Why not? We have all seen some really taped up, sun/dust shadowed rip rags that have been slabbed. This one has a ding in the corner and that's not too bad. My question was just tongue in cheek. My Whiz run is raw so there's no need to slab it. I like flipping through them when I can. Oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to sound awn'ry. I lean toward conservation, so...... I love the tactile experience as well. What a great hobby. I wish it were practical to PDF my books and get them all slabbed. I see nothing but disaster attempting something like that.

We have run out of ideas and have drawn ourselves into a corner" along with DC's "Throw it harder! Maybe we can get it to stick!".

I finally completed my Wrightson Swamp Thing run last night with this: and this: That No. 5 was harder than I thought it would be to find. There aren't many high grade CGC examples available and the ones I could find have the 20¢ circle cut off which REALLY clashes with my OCD. There are tons of raw issues available and it doesn't seem like a lot of them made it to CGC although I haven't checked the census. Very happy to have both of these books.

So jealous... Grats! It's been entrenched in my top 5 most wanted books for years, but I just can't find one I can find them I just can't pay for them!

Good call! Nice book! The late 300's early 400's Detective books are really surging. Especially with both Adams cover/art We should probably get them while we can still reasonably afford them. My cut off is 9.0, but in the case of Bat 222, I would go 8.0 or 8.5. I can't afford $800 for a 9.4 or 9.6. Sadly. And that's just Adams cover with the Beatles take!

Ah yes. I see the little nail, now. Good stuff! I should have known Cap and Bucky had more common sense than to run down the street and up 6 flights of stairs with a twelve foot ladder! Imagine the cornering!

Really nice book! I must admit I have to laugh when I see these covers from an adults perspective. Is the Human Fly really going to hang around long enough to see Cap and Bucky showing up with a ladder no less? How far did they lug that ladder? Looks like at least five stories if not more. What are they leaning it against? A water tower. BOTH Cap and Bucky are climbing the ladder? How far up did Bucky think he was reasonably going to get climbing up the tower side of the ladder? "Agh! I find myself under the tower, Cap! Scootch over! I'm coming around!" All that work only to be outdone by the Human Fly simply tipping the ladder off the tower. Since they were so easily vexed, the Human Fly is off to pour hot candle wax on his beautiful victim or attempt to blow torch her to pieces only to be interrupted by Captain Marvel Jr while fighting Captain Nazi! I'm sorry. I know they were drawn for kids by then. I just can't help analyzing some of them.

It's a grand book no matter how you slice it. Maybe with a high grade book, getting the sig on the bottom of the 1st page would be prudent if it has to be signed. I love sig books myself. I think once the artists are gone, they will actually add to the provenance. I wouldn't turn down a hi-grade Kirby sig on the cover of a key book, you know?

Pretty decent 8.0 I thought! I tried to get a copy that had as much of the sitting Native American on the far right as possible. Plus the Adams Sig.

Probably my favorite Haney/Aparo BATB story. Great cover! I loved Aparo's style during the mid seventies. Too bad it changed so drastically.

Awesome thread. I have a copy of Batman 234 with the complete banner showing with space to spare. That was REALLY hard to find! This cover sports not only the whole 20 cent circle, but Lings complete left foot as well.

I bid for the Sig Series 9.0 in the last auction which eventually went for $500. I was surprised it fetched so much. As I say, I spent $150 for my 9.0 ow 3 years ago. I see many of these for sale on ebay but most of them have no bidders. Really high prices being asked. I wonder what they are actually selling for and if this is just a bubble or a bunch of greedheads trying to cash in? I like the book a great deal, but there are no shortage of copies available. Any of you folks have real sales data?

I always liked that book, with the emotional 'war orphans' cover. That's a terrific looking 7.0. Thank you. Esquire Comics had a CGC 9.0 for sale for the longest time and I would drool over it. Think Mark wanted $3200 for it. Pretty reasonable price, I thought. It eventually sold and I'm glad now that I didn't get it. This one means more to me because of the back story.

Not the best graded copy, but it is from an original owner collection. His family had to sell his boyhood comics to help defray his medical bills. Very poignant I thought. It has an arrival date on the cover as well which I actually like as long as they aren't out of control. I think it adds an air of provenance to the book. Plus this is the 1st time Superman and Batman appear together in a story. This seems to be an under valued series as well as under appreciated. My next All Star book will hopefully be #12 or the Grundy classic cover. #3 or #8 will simply be out of the question for now.

Got this yesterday from CLINK. I'm perfectly happy with it. Many of the 9.4 and 9.6's don't look miles ahead better than this and are several hundred dollars more. Black covers are hard to deal with. Thank God for Denny and Neal!

Here's mine: I HAD a Bat #3 CGC 8.5. I had to sell it last May to meet payroll. Major bummer. My wife had to have a serious operation and I needed to fund a part time employee until my wife was well. It all turned out dandy and I had some cash from the Bat #3 sale left over and bought this book.

Here's mine. Paid $150 for it 3 years ago. By the looks of things on ebay, maybe THIS will be my retirement book! ! Why the sudden spasms over this book?
