  1. Got these today from the recent CC auction with busted corners and cracked cases. Thanks for the spiffy $17 packaging! But I digress. Cool books at least.

    Update. CC won't do anything for busted cases besides telling you to take it up with the postal service. Very disappointing for a company I admired and buy a lot from. Just a warning to you and a little griping from me.

  2. Hope I won’t incur the wrath of retro, but Sir Tundra has inspired me to push the parameters of the thread to include verses spawned by stories as well as art. Impressed by the suppleness of FT’s ‘long line’ I took a try at it… (Oct 1955 Galaxy)

  3. The pen is mightier than the axe;

    Try saying that after forty whacks...

    Retro, it’s nice to have a clean bed;

    Should have bought her a vacuum instead.

    Excellent Retro. (thumbs u

    To build upon what sir Calhoun has wrote. :headbang:

    The good man's name was Mr. Chips

    no other snack would he entrust to pass his lips

    so those who ate crackers and created some crumbs

    would receive their due with bone cracking thrums.

    On the sheets where she then fed

    Hiding crunchy crackers in their bed

    His wrath of finding crumbs she dread

    She should have quit while she was ahead! :shy:

    Thanks! I enjoyed the extra crunchy additions!

    Her love of crackers was second to none

    And lost her head because she couldn't eat just one!

    Doctor Styx get in a fix

    Mere leagues above the planets fiery core

    Stirred a legend; ere was thought to exist no more

    Deeply entrenched in lava's lair

    His minions toiled under furnaces glare

    Eons passed and mountains wept

    But still the prisoners the dungeons kept

    Raking the coals and hammering with sledges

    keep up the pace, dour denizen's of the trenches

    Then a maelstrom swept the placid earth

    waking Lucifer from forlorn scorched hearth

    Rose the demon through miles of rock, as volcanic eruptions grew

    He reached the surface, direly intent on what he could subdue

    Ignoring nearby cities crumbling and grim

    The demon spotted Dr Styx, and lumbered ominously towards him

    "Hey" bellowed the man of fire, "is keeping peace up here such a chore"?

    "My gang below cannot concentrate, due to the din of world-wide war."

    You sir have a Vikings spirit with a gift of the old time lore. Good job!
