Ha, that is awesome. Didn't even realize it said that in my exuberant glee yesterday!

Mine ain't a whole lot better and I'm glad to have one too. Great snag!
It's the only one I've actually held in hand! Maybe it won't take another decade to get an upgrade.

Good stuff, guys! I will be starting another contest in the next day or two. This time I may offer up two covers to choose from. Last one was a blast!
-
That's a cool cover and one I have never seen before. Now I have to troll around for one!
-
Update. CC won't do anything for busted cases besides telling you to take it up with the postal service. Very disappointing for a company I admired and buy a lot from. Just a warning to you and a little griping from me.

Holy smokes!

This just in from a fellow boardie!
A nice blend of scifi and horror!
That's an awesome cover!

I enjoyed your epic poem too frozentundra! We have some talented contributors to our little thread!
-
Hope I won’t incur the wrath of retro, but Sir Tundra has inspired me to push the parameters of the thread to include verses spawned by stories as well as art. Impressed by the suppleness of FT’s ‘long line’ I took a try at it… (Oct 1955 Galaxy)
Hope Pat doesn't take offense but I wanted to share with everyone this work was accepted to be published and he deserves some congrats! Classing this joint up!

I think of him as being dissolved in acid and those eyes are disturbing!

There is all kinds of weirdness going on here! I like weird so I'm in luck! Good work Pat!

The pen is mightier than the axe;
Try saying that after forty whacks...
Retro, it’s nice to have a clean bed;
Should have bought her a vacuum instead.
Excellent Retro. (thumbs uTo build upon what sir Calhoun has wrote.
The good man's name was Mr. Chips
no other snack would he entrust to pass his lips
so those who ate crackers and created some crumbs
would receive their due with bone cracking thrums.
On the sheets where she then fedHiding crunchy crackers in their bed
His wrath of finding crumbs she dread
She should have quit while she was ahead!
Thanks! I enjoyed the extra crunchy additions!
Her love of crackers was second to none
And lost her head because she couldn't eat just one!
-
A short but sweet one
Please don't eat crackers in bed
I don't recall how many times I said
Please don't eat crackers in bed
I warned of the path that it led
But still that fat face you fed
Anger boiling, face bright red
I grabbed your hair as you read
Thrust that ax and removed your head
Blood soaked crumbs from where you bled
Told you not to eat crackers in bed

Awesome! Thanks for giving the thread a little bump. I've been swamped this week but it is in good hands with work like that.

Doctor Styx get in a fix
Mere leagues above the planets fiery core
Stirred a legend; ere was thought to exist no more
Deeply entrenched in lava's lair
His minions toiled under furnaces glare
Eons passed and mountains wept
But still the prisoners the dungeons kept
Raking the coals and hammering with sledges
keep up the pace, dour denizen's of the trenches
Then a maelstrom swept the placid earth
waking Lucifer from forlorn scorched hearth
Rose the demon through miles of rock, as volcanic eruptions grew
He reached the surface, direly intent on what he could subdue
Ignoring nearby cities crumbling and grim
The demon spotted Dr Styx, and lumbered ominously towards him
"Hey" bellowed the man of fire, "is keeping peace up here such a chore"?
"My gang below cannot concentrate, due to the din of world-wide war."
You sir have a Vikings spirit with a gift of the old time lore. Good job!

No poem tonight, just a super thank you to retrocomics for his generous prize for this thread!
Thanks out to all who voted too, glad you liked it!
I got the Wonder Comics in today and was so excited that I let her go for a little carousel ride with some new friends!
Glad you like it,Jayman. Now I'm at a lack of scantily clad, futuristic girl wielding a space age fencing laser while battling a derp eyed part dragon\lizard\loch ness hybrid monster while future Errol Flynn looks on covers!
