  1. @Joe Peck I'd just take a step back from the boards for a day or two. Seems like you've let the ribbing get to you. You do post a ton of threads, which can be annoying on any forum. But it's cool you are so excited about comics. Maybe choose one of your threads as a catch all for some of the questions you've had. People likely would respond more positively to that.
  2. This is impossible to answer because everyone is biased toward what they personally like. The only real answer is to collect what you like, and dabble around to find out what that is. But don't get in a rush. Take your time, don't jump in and spend a ton on this character or that title or this creator or that era only to figure out too late that you aren't really into them. Then you gotta waste a bunch of time selling what you've got to start over.
  3. what an incredibly goofy thread. I need a recap of which boardies I'm supposed to loathe and which ones I'm supposed to revere.
  4. Just arrived today! This completes my Bronze Age X-Men run. I’m down to eleven issues needed to complete the Silver Age run. I can smell it.
  5. When I got my art degree, late 90s to early '00s, whenever Lichtenstein came up the comics from which he stole were not really discussed. I think we were vaguely aware of where he'd been "inspired", but we were certainly never taught the names of the original artists or about their work and medium. He did nothing for comics, certainly not romance comics and the artists who worked on them. I don't know if there is greater context included in modern art schools when Lichtenstein is the subject. I hope so, but wouldn't be surprised if nothing has changed and he is still lauded as anything other than a thief.
  6. I could get down with something like that. And in this case, like with Venom, it's a clear cut one panel appearance. And both speak I believe, right? more panels than that and ya it can quickly become a gray area. Where would be the line between a brief first appearance/cameo and a full appearance?
  7. Seems like "First appearance in cameo" would be a pretty accurate description vs "First full appearance." Makes sense that 180 was way undervalued for a long time, and is starting to catch up a bit.
  8. This is the worst logic imaginable! No you DON'T, Steve! JESUS
  9. That's fine and dandy, but at the end of the day he copied someone else's composition, their art, claimed it as his own and never bothered to mention/credit the artists he stole from as "his" art was and continues to be hung in prominent museums around the world. Seeing those panels recreated in a different medium, in the large format they are presented in, IS interesting and thought provoking. And that is the tragedy, as well. Screw him, honestly. He deserves any derision he gets. I have a useless art degree from a prominent university so I am an expert.
  10. The thread is 38 pages long. There's been nonsense, some good stuff, more nonsense, some other good stuff. It's 38 pages long. It has something for everyone.
  11. I think it’s common for one’s eyes to glaze over when scrolling past pinned posts.
  12. I wonder which recently banned and disgraced poster is responsible for this travesty of a troll attempt
  13. I've gotten in trouble with my wife for the number of packages that've showed up lately and promised I'd be good and now this. And now this. great.
  14. Enjoy your comics however you want. But also most people are just trying to save you some money AND have you keep enjoying your comic. The book isn't anywhere near high grade. it's a nice enough copy, and it's cool you are excited to find it! If you want to grade it for sentimental reasons or even to practice your grading vs CGC standards at the moment, go right on ahead. I like my comics raw, some people only collect slabs. Ya it's your money, do whatever you want.
