  1. the lower staple looks very rusted, which would worry me that there might be water damage. I'm at GD/VG, give or take a half grade. It's a nice looking copy, GL with it
  2. A kid in high school did this during class; I was looking right at him when he did it. I think he stuck a paper clip in the socket. It was during typing class, and I watched him fly out of his chair and onto the floor. His hair was standing up, and he just sort of sat there dazed for a moment before saying simply, "woah." I thought our teacher, Mrs. Layton, was going to have a stroke. She took him to the school nurse and he came back shortly after with his hand wrapped up and grinning. It was the dumbest thing I've ever witnessed anyone purposely do. One of my cousins also tried this, but I wasn't there to witness it. I myself once peed on an electric fence but luckily didn't get zapped. A few times, my friends and I engaged in stupid games that involved grabbing and holding an electric fence for as long as possible. Not quite the same as sticking a fork in an electrical socket, but shocking nonetheless.
  3. I've been trying to find a nice Hulk 144 for ages. Figures!
  4. Awful. Hopefully some of the books turn up. If they were taken months ago and have already been churned back into the market then it'll probably be a long shot, but here's to hoping.
  5. Amazing Adventures 17 - 8.5 OW $22 TAKE
  6. The sock puppet appears to have been removed from this thread and the site, so I don't see any reason for a lock!
  7. I am incredibly disappointed. You linked to a now twelve year old, poorly written blog rant that, while yes makes Liefeld out to be a total and a jerk, offers no evidence or proof of anything truly nefarious. I'll admit that I didn't bother clicking the first link you shared.
  8. I've never been a whale and likely never will. I did smell something in the air late last year and got serious about acquiring a copy of X-Men #1 for my run, and I'm really glad I did. I picked up a few of the other bigger silver age keys I needed for the run, but prices have finally gotten to where I had to stop. I'll keep working on the filler issues, no one is buying those. And I'll keep working on all the other runs I chip away at: Tales to Astonish, Amazing Adventures, Incredible Hulk, Tomb of Dracula, Marvel and D.C. horror, etc. etc. Plenty of stuff out there that's super affordable, and probably will always be. If the market does bust, or if there is a serious correction, maybe I'd be back in to track down one or two more of the bigger books I'd like to have like Hulk #1 and ASM #1, but for now and the foreseeable future no way, Jose. It's high grade copies of Marvel Premiere, Creatures on the Loose, House of Mystery, and Uncanny Tales from the Grave for me.
  9. I listen to his podcast. I enjoy his enthusiasm for the medium, his anecdotes from throughout his career, etc. I never thought that I'd ever, ever say "I enjoy listening to Rob Liefeld's podcast," as I do not at all enjoy his art now (though as a pre-teen and young teen I probably didn't mind it), but I do. XyzABCjklmnop hasn't actually given anyone any "real" reasons to dislike Liefield, regarding his alleged screwing people over, but I'm all ears. I doubt it'll prevent me from continuing to enjoy the podcast, but it might add more context to some of the things Liefeld talks about or claims there.
  10. I'm guessing there is going to be plenty of bargains on pretty much all non key stuff, and even alot of smaller keys. The crazy train is only pushing a tiny % of all the comics out there. But if you are only after those bigger books then ya I can see it being a bummer.
  11. You can basically just throw a dart and buy whatever it lands on (please don't throw a dart at the actual mag).
  12. I have no idea, but good luck. Do you need the money for something urgently? Are you retired/ready to travel/something similar, etc? With the way the entire X-Men run has exploded and keeps going up, I can see it being tough to justify hanging on to it much longer. I'm only halfway through collecting the silver and bronze age run, le sigh
  13. X-Men 94 in 4.5 just sold today for 1200. wut https://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Men-94-CGC-4-5-W-New-Team-Begins-2nd-App-Storm-Colossus-Nightcrawler/353441558501?hash=item524ac22fe5:g:JXIAAOSwNp1gZ7gU
  14. We couldn't begin to list all the examples from throughout time when people were paid far, far less than they deserved for doing incredibly hard and/or dangerous work.
