  1. If you squint they ain't so bad
  2. I bet we can go quite a bit further back than that as for when Polonsky should have been paid. This dude is unbelievable
  3. We are gonna be here all weekend at this rate.
  4. Did you or did you not agree to pay him back via paypal if the check didn't arrive by a certain date?
  5. This is completely ridiculous. And a real shame to see. how absurd to now claim you don't have the paypal address that has been posted at least twice now IN THIS THREAD. holy crud
  6. I have ADD, like actually have it not "pretend to have it on twitter for likes" have it, and this story screams ADD to me. super cool books, though. Good luck in whatever the next thing is that grabs your attention!
  7. They will come for your Schomburgs, and your Namors, and anything else that gets caught up in this new moral panic. Hopefully it ends like all the moral panics of the past, but in the meantime my eyes are tired from all the rolling and need a rest.
  8. also here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/dr-seuss-books-deemed-offensive-will-be-delisted-from-ebay-11614884201
  9. I'd be very surprised if the Dr Seuss books in question are still on the shelf of a single Barnes and Nobles.
  10. I'm at around a 2.0 as well. I don't think a press and clean will do anything for the grade or value. It looks really good for the grade. Slab it if you plan to sell it. Keep it raw otherwise. Slabbing it is pricey. Great copy!
  11. the cover doesn't look completely split to me? Looks like it has some splitting there below the bottom staple. If you are considering it detached and even partially split, along with the other issues and overall look of the book I'd agree with 1.5 or so. It presents decently well, there aren't any pieces missing or big rips or super ugly flaws. As for price, I don't think 5,500 is crazy to ask for this copy based on the market right now. But it seems a little like you are asking us to talk you into buying it, and that's a troubling feeling. IMO, it's better to not have a big book that I'm unhappy with just for the sake of having it. If that isn't the case, if this is the book for you and you wanna have it for a long time, then go for it!
  12. I was being mildly facetious. I know eBay is inconsistent with what gets yoinked (snicker) and what doesn't. If they were to begin pulling listings en masse for items caught up in cultural hysteria moments, books etc, then that would be pretty problematic. It doesn't appear that they are, and this case was just the usual "got reported by a prude" so it got pulled.
  13. Which is infantilizing and not the kind of governmental overreach anyone should support. I know England has a long history of nanny state censorship regarding film as well, not surprising it extended to other mediums.
  14. If we can sell Cherry Poptart comics on Ebay, we can sell anything. Until the new morality police come for Cherry, too. Ebay as a selling platform shouldn't be in the business of judging why someone sells a certain item or why someone else might buy it. And historically, apart from barring obviously problematic items like body parts, they haven't. But this is 2021 and the western world is in the grip of a moral panic and cancel culture is rampant. Hopefully stuff like this doesn't creep more and more into our daily experience, but it's a troubling anecdote for sure.
  15. I think we are all more being tolerant of each other's views than we are necessarily agreeing with each other. But the result is the same; a pleasant conversation is occurring.
  16. Heck ya. Love that cover. here’s mine
  17. Enjoy the cultural revolution, everyone! Seriously though, dismiss this quickly blooming moral panic at your own peril. It was ridiculous years ago. We are well past ridiculous now.
  18. I made this point. He's got a lot of money in books on his ebay page. Enough money for many people to retire on, much less get out of a small debt. This is incredibly dumb. Maybe some of the book aren't his, are on consignment, but come on man. Come on. Come on. Come on.
  19. yeah, we have all read the thread and despite any subjectively "snide comments" it remains 100% clear that Polonsky is still owed his money. TopCity agreed to make him whole within a certain timeframe and we have reached that line.
