  1. heck ya it is If I ever found the original art for this I'd sell important things to get it
  2. Did someone say scantily clad? Not my copy. I was too lazy to get it out to scan. So I spent more time looking for this one on the internet than it would have taken to just scan my copy. What a cover!
  3. With all the above being said, I'd certainly agree that there just seems to be an edge to everyone all the time in our modern culture. People do not treat others respectfully, with patience, with dignity, as they'd like to be treated. I don't have any answers for why that is, but I can see how it gets old. Gender has little to nothing to do with it, though. People are mean to people. They might be mean differently depending on who they are dealing with, but that's it. Stop sucking, people!
  4. I try. And I fail. My collection has no rhyme or reason. I wish it did. Maybe it will one day. The only thing I've managed to do so far is keep from having way too many comics. that will probably change by the time it is all over, too.
  5. yes, OP's own logic dictates that we view him with the same level of distrust and suspicion of dishonesty he is expecting from sellers. Of course most of us would never do that without being given a reason to, and maybe its something he can't help.
  6. I don’t know what else to say, comic books aren’t new cars. And you are consistently insinuating that sellers are dishonest if you as the buyer discover, months later, hidden flaws in books you bought from them. This rather than accepting that mistakes happen.
  7. I think you are still somehow missing the solution. If a seller doesn't say anything in their listing about hidden flaws, you can do two things: 1) ask before you buy the book. This gets the seller on record regarding the matter. then... 2) inspect the book as soon as you receive it and if you discover hidden flaws, immediately take it up with the seller. You do not need to give up on buying raw books at all. This is an over reaction that is completely unnecessary!
  8. Not sure if all this talk about low standards for sellers around here or whatever is necessary or warranted. I just make it a habit of checking every comic I buy to be sure there isn't an issue. even cheap ones. Why not? You are going to read through it anyway, aren't you? Aren't you? So count the pages at the same time!
  9. Unless you are being sarcastic, this really is an overreaction. Plenty of reputable people out there to buy from. And even on ebay as a buyer, they bend over backward to protect you.
  10. Just saw the news on Twitter. May he rest in peace. A jolly human who seemed to truly love what he did, the fans he did it for, and life in general. Glad I got to meet him a couple of times and got some sketches that I'll now treasure even more. And only 67. Just way too soon
  11. Isn't the lady in the first picture the seller herself? I don't know who the second lady is, but don't think this is a good example of what the OP is talking about. The lady in the third picture just seems to be a human with a nice smile showing off a comic book. What am I missing here?
  12. If this happened to me, I would consider myself to be fully to blame. It would have been I who did not inspect the book as soon as I received it. It would have been on me to contact the seller as soon as possible about any issues I found with the book. Sellers make mistakes, sell books with flaws they missed, and should be given a chance to rectify those instances but certainly within a reasonable timeframe and not after several months and the book having passed through multiple hands.
  13. Is it the best Super-hero film? I guess that's debatable. I don't think I'd rank it as tops. I loved it then and I still love it now, and it was greatly responsible for everything that's come since. Not solely, but in large part. But what will always make this film truly special, and what ensures it's place at or near the top of super-hero films for me, is how I felt sitting there watching it. After all the anticipation, the excitement over a serious take on the Amazing freaking SPIDER-MAN, there we all were sitting in a theater with buckets of popcorn, sodas, our candy, just being absolutely, fantastically, unforgettably entertained by Peter, the Goblin, MJ, Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and all the rest. Ya there have been better super-hero films since. There have been better Spidey films since. There have been better D.C. films since. But none of those ever made me feel the way I did watching the first Spidey on the big screen for the first time. X-Men for me is very close, though. I was far more of an X-Men fan when it came to the comics themselves, and the movie blew me away. The first time I saw their powers being used on screen I got chills every single time. And I absolutely agree that X2 is the best of those films. Avengers came close. Guardians of the Galaxy is up there if for nothing else than the sheer rip roaring experience of seeing the first time on the big screen. But man, Amazing Spider-Man was and is just special. How lucky did we get? Over twenty years now of comics on the big screen! Love em, hate em, argue about em, cry about em, shout about em. At least we got em.
  14. What an awful experience. Really feel for you that you had to, and are having to really, deal with this. Hopefully Paypal doesn't perpetually handle your account this way. is it possible to speak them directly and show them this thread or something else to change your account status? I'm guessing no, just musing out loud.
  15. Then let's see it. I'm confused about what you are waiting for here. Write the date on piece of paper, with your name, take pic of both together. post to forum. Easy.
  16. 8.5 ish for me. Nice looking copy. The bottom right crease probably keeps it from being higher than 9.0 with the addition of the spine tics.
  17. Nice! Was that after press and clean? Before I saw the reveal I had it at a solid 7.0 to 7.5 with possible improvement by a half grade. Looks like it worked out very well!
