  1. Still have a couple spots left for Preview Night Comic Swap if anyone wants to get in! Just DM me. We've got someone coming with their late uncle's collection - nothing but vintage and first time being sold. So, get ready! -Gene
  2. A couple updates: Less than 30 tickets left to receive a free con exclusive t-shirt! Unfortunately, Kevin Eastman has to cancel his appearance due to existing contractual obligations with a competitor that prevent him from participating in Shortboxed LIVE. We're working on bringing another legendary creator (or two) to the show!
  3. That would be a bit difficult to manage since Shortboxed is a marketplace and all the books are listed for sale by owner - we don't manage the inventory ourselves. Only a select few books get posted on our IG each day, and there are hundreds of new listings every day. Obviously this isn't something we can manage and do at scale, but I'd like to help out if there is a specific book you'd like to purchase or make an offer on. We can purchase the book ourselves on your behalf and just invoice you for the book plus cost of shipping. Feel free to email me at gene at shortboxed.com and we can work it out there.
  4. Hey there! We're currently available in the US, and to buyers in Canada and UK - for now. International rollout is very complex, especially for a mobile app with various international laws and requirements we need to design around, so we're running a beta with Canada and UK to iron out any kinks before opening up to more regions this year.
  5. This has been updated. As Terry already mentioned, Desert Wind will be set up at the show taking CGC submissions. If you haven't worked with them before, they are amazing and very professional and easy to work with. They will handle your submissions with utmost care.
  6. We're four weeks away! If you haven't bought your tickets yet, I highly recommend doing so as there will be a long line to get in for those who are buying tickets at the door. If you purchase your tickets ahead of time, there will be a separate line for you. Also, if anyone still wants a $40 3' table space for Preview Night, email me at gene at shortboxed.com. We have a few spots left. -Gene
  7. Thanks @BitterOldMan for the post - you beat me to it! We're obviously very excited about this show. We take a lot of pride in the strength of the Shortboxed ecosystem, and many of the top dealers in the industry buy and sell on Shortboxed, so we decided to bring them all together for the ultimate one-day show. The dealer list is strictly by invite only, and some of these guys have never done a show in the Bay Area, or rarely head west for shows. I really wanted to put together a dealer lineup worth traveling for, and I hope we've done that. Details and tickets area available now at shortboxed.com/live but I'm happy to answer any questions here as well. Hope to see some of you there! -Gene, CEO & co-founder
  8. Hey everyone! Gene here, CEO & co-founder of Shortboxed. Thanks for all your replies and insights, especially any critical feedback as it helps us continue to get better. As OP mentioned, our support team got back to him and the issue is being resolved - looks like it was a simple account setup error. If you would allow me to clarify one point, as far as seller payouts go, if there aren't any issues, most payouts get processed automatically within 24-48 hours of a book being delivered; not weeks, or even months as some platforms and auction houses do. Payout methods include direct deposit/ACH, PayPal, and physical check. Our entire team truly does everything they can, as fast as they can, to resolve any customer issues - it's something we take a lot of pride in and celebrate internally. I'm happy to answer any questions or concerns anyone might have about buying or selling on Shortboxed. I prefer to be as transparent as possible, so please consider me a resource. -Gene
  9. Hey everyone, a few friendly reminders- Preview Night Comic Swap There are still a few spots left for the Sat evening Preview Night Comic Swap! Each 6' table is shared between two people, so one spot = 3' of table space. This can fit 3 short boxes side-by-side. $40 to reserve table space. Just DM me or email me at gene at shortboxed dot com to reserve a spot. You don't have to get table space to attend, but if you want to attend both Preview Night and the Main Event, you need to purchase a ticket for both. Hotel Rooms Hotel rooms at the discounted convention rate are selling out quick. Fri and Sat night only have about a dozen left, and Sun night only a handful. We'll try to add more rooms at the discounted rate, but not guaranteed. Tickets and hotel booking link are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cal-comic-con-2023-tickets-394110915357 CGC Submissions Desert Wind, an authorized CGC rep, will be taking submissions onsite as well as witnessing signatures from special guests.
  10. Hey everyone, Gene from Shortboxed here. As Terry mentioned, we're helping produce this show - the best comics-only show IMHO You can expect the same experience as all the previous years, and it's in the same hotel as last time. We'll also be hosting a Preview Night comic swap on Sat Feb 4th from 5-8pm in the hotel after the dealers finish setting up. Even though the comic swap isn't in a brewery anymore, there will be a bar and we're still picking up the bar tab during the comic swap Tickets are officially available now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cal-comic-con-2023-tickets-394110915357 That is the official and only link to purchase tickets to Cal Comic Con. A few important details to note: There are VERY limited hotel rooms available, even less double rooms. Once double rooms sell out, only single rooms will be available. If you only see single rooms left and want a double, you can book the single room and call the hotel to ask if they can switch it to a double if they have any available. This way you can still book under the convention rate. There are only 100 tickets available to Preview Night, and you must purchase a "Preview Night + Main Event" ticket to attend. We're limited by capacity, and with Preview Night attendees plus all the dealers and staff, we'll be around ~150 people. For context, last Preview Night had <100 people total and the brewery one before that had around ~75 people. If you want a table during Preview Night, please email me at gene@shortboxed.com - don't DM me. There are only a dozen or so tables left (about 30 total) and I'll be assigning them on a first come first serve basis and will keep a backup list in case people drop out. As with previous years, tables are half-size 3' table space, which can fit 3 short boxes side by side. It's not a full booth setup. Tables are $40. If any dealers here are interested in setting up at the Main Event on Sunday, unfortunately there aren't any dealer booths left - virtually every single dealer from previous years is returning, and Terry has a long waitlist. I'll continue to post more updates in this thread as we get closer to the show. So happy it's back!
  11. Hi everyone, Gene from Shortboxed here. We'll be set up at Fan Expo SF since it's in our backyard - our office is just a couple blocks away We'll have a massive booth Can confirm that Harley Yee, Brad Sloan (FVF Comics), Cape & Cowl Comics, Bunky Bros are more will be set up. A few more dealers from SoCal are planning to make the trip up as well, but I don't want to say in case they haven't officially signed on yet. We're working directly with Fan Expo to make sure that comics are represented heavily at this con via dealers and creators. Since this is a local show for us, and we haven't had a proper con at Moscone in years, we want to make sure it's successful. We're also making sure that all the comic dealers are placed in the same area, prominently; i.e. not stuck in the far back corner. Looking forward to having a con at Moscone again!
  12. Looking forward to meeting you all at the show! Already had the pleasure of meeting @1Cool. Don't forget, if you're free this evening, come to our meetup! 7-10pm across the street at Pratt St. Ale House - open bar, food, and swag giveaways. Just be sure to RSVP at www.shortboxed.com/baltimore
  13. Shortboxed booth 1009. We'll have slabs (from all eras) and free swag. Please stop by to say hi and introduce yourselves Reminder to RSVP for our Fri meetup: www.shortboxed.com/baltimore
  14. Hey everyone! Shortboxed will be setup at the show, and we're bringing a lot of slabs (got some nice GA and PCH). We're also hosting a meetup for Shortboxed users after the con on Friday, from 7-10pm. Open bar, free food, and swag like t-shirts, stickers, and a few of these custom Jim Lee backpacks to give away. A couple quick points: A "Shortboxed user" is anyone who has the app installed and created a free account, but if you've bought or sold anything on it before, you'll have priority access in case we reach capacity. Max capacity is 30, so we'll likely fill the room. As this is a private meetup, we are following the Baltimore Comic Con COVID-19 protocols and requiring proof of vaccination or negative PCR test within 72 hours. RSVP for the event here: www.shortboxed.com/baltimore Hope to see some of you there! At the very least, stop by the booth and please introduce yourself
