  1. Had a lot of fun selling at the show and meeting fellow boardies! Looking forward to the next one already. Thanks @HouseofComics.Com for another great event!
  2. It depends on the vendor, some will take card but cash is your best bet. We take cash, card, PayPal.
  3. This. With all the doom & gloom talk of SDCC, it's a con that draws the best books in the industry to a single place. The breadth and scope of the books at SDCC is amazing and unlike any other cons I've attended. I find this to be common at multi-day shows. The comic book collectors who come to spend money tend to show up on the first day, while the stock is fresh. Many don't return once they've done all their buying.
  4. Here's a little sneak peek at some of the books I'm bringing. I hope there are some L.B. Cole fans out there Lots of nice GA, including a gorgeous set of Fawcetts I recently uncovered from a collection in the Pacific Northwest that's been in storage for decades. And for those who couldn't make it to SDCC this year, I'm bringing a bunch of variants and exclusives (Mark Brooks, Dell'Otto, Parillo, Adam Hughes, Adi Granov, more) - many of them signed (I got them signed personally at the show). Will also have a box of more affordable SA/BA books in the $5-15 range. And of course, some really nice GA slabs and keys Note: this is NOT a for sale post, it's just a preview of what we're bringing. These will not be for sale until Saturday at the show.
  5. Triple full back?! I'm trying to figure out what to do with my dad's silver/copper age books at the moment. He's got some Dell's which are wider than the silver age books. This is probably the route i'll go (except i'll probably only go one full back instead of 3) Yep - nothing will bend these books. It may seem overkill but some of these are 3 and 4 figure books...I'm not taking any chances. When I see an expensive book in a poly bag and one board, something inside of me dies.
  6. I put all my raw GA into Golden Age size MyLites2 with triple Full-Backs, then into a Super Gold 4-mil Archive sleeve. I went this route after not finding a suitable toploader to fit my bag & board setup (minus the Archive sleeve). The only one that fits is a magazine size toploader, but it's too wide for my liking, and wont fit into CGC boxes (too wide). SA bags & boards fit into GA size toploaders perfectly, and that's what I do with my SA and newer books. You can fit a raw GA book into GA toploaders but it won't fit with a bag & board.
  7. Sold a four figure book to Patrick - smooth transaction. Thanks!
  8. Picked this up at SDCC. Highest graded. Next highest is a 6.5.
  9. As a CA resident, the tax has kept me from bidding on HA auctions. With the BP (already factored into the bid of course) it just gets even worse with an almost 10% more on top for CA (and NY, TX, IL). The only way I'd win is if a book somehow flies under the radar and my final price after BP + tax comes in at or under FMV. So basically I never win anything and never bid.

  11. Looking forward to having a table at this show! Bringing some nice GA goodies
  12. To put it simply: yes. The beauty of SDCC is that there's something for everyone. There is not nearly enough time to do everything you want during the 4.5 days of SDCC. I'm a GA collector, and I travel to many cons just to buy comics, but oddly enough I spend most of my time at SDCC doing "everything else" that I'm into: attending panels, getting creator signatures, artist alley and small press. Just chasing down creators to meet them or to get sigs takes up A LOT of my time, especially since a lot of the creators have fixed signing schedules and not everyone has an artist alley table that they sit at all day. There are also SO MANY panels to see. This year I went to a bunch of creator panels including Jim Lee, Geoff Johns, Humberto Ramos, and Adam Hughes, as well as panels for Marvel Comics and DC Comics (comics panels, not movies). I also tracked down a lot of modern variants and SDCC exclusives. So as you can see, most of my time was spent doing things other than digging for vintage comics. SDCC is the king of all cons, but if you're only interested in ONE thing/activity (i.e. only shopping for vintage comics) then it's not worth the time, cost and effort. However if you're interested in multiple things (comics, art, panels, artists, sigs, celebrities, events, artist alley, small press, exclusives, cosplay, pop culture, whatever) then it can't be beat. I look forward to attending every year. Everyone should experience it once, especially those who've never been yet somehow manage to have an opinion on it
  13. Sorry, sorry! An honest mistake, must have gotten distracted and typed #3 instead of 3.0 - apologies.
