  1. How 'bout some Comic bound volumes? The Wings set I got from George Tuska and he signed it inside the front cover. It is #1-12. The Disney set is a two volume set of all the Donald Duck Barks one shots. Also got Scrooge 1-40 in two volumes from a local guy that bought them from Cherokee and had them bound. The 9 has a $6. pencil price inside the cover! I love bound volumes!

  2. Hi gang. Thought you might find this fun. Last night on my way home I noticed a house on my street with a huge dumpster. The old couple died a year or so ago and I guess the family was cleaning out or remodeling. No one has lived there since.I knew they had kids about my age so it got me to thinking.. Soooo I walked down the street with a flashlight and walked into it. Lots of trash and but I did find a small pile of non-key SA comics, a Man from Uncle Lunchbox and some old 50's light fixtures (sell real well at the flea markets). Also a cool '50's "sattalight"" clock. No body was there but I am going to try and hook up with the kids when I see them and see what else they ahve to throw out. JUNK! Wasn't the first time 'ole Robot Man has dived a dumpster nor the best find but hey you gotta take the chance... Any body else ever do anything like this?

Also, would love to hear stories of other's "finds". Post 'em here. It's all about the thrill of the hunt and discovery. I know you guys have stories (especially Mitch). Don't be shy or embarrased, let's have so fun!

  3. Hi BB: You know the one thing I don't really have any more of is fanzines. I never really kept them. Like my Buyer's Guides, I would recycle them after a while because they took up too much valuble space. I thing I do have a few old RBCC's, Bill Thailing, Rogosky ect catalogs somewhere but that's about it...

  4. Hey Howard! Good to hear from you man. Yeah, when you collect for a while and hang on to stuff you're bound to end up with some cool junk. Hey some of my hoard

Has even come through you. Next time you're in town you should come by with Randy.

Yeah, that was sure a score huh? I couldn't believe it when he came by my booth. He had no idea. Just dumb luck. Going through the stacks was fun. You never know what the book below the one you are looking at will be. Randy is a bro and I didn't want him to get screwed. Besides, they were just crappy SA! Trouble is, all it did was create an other competitor!!! Hey I've got some cool stuff from him too. Stay tuned I have a few more things to show when I get the chance...

  5. Wow Cat nice ax!!! Do you play? I don't think I'd want to play that strat. Kind of like a slabbed book, what good is it??? But it sure looks purty. I have a '63 Gibson SG that my daddy bought me used for my 15th birthday. I once had Pete Townshend sign the pickguard. But it was a player and I eventually wore off most of the signature. I was too stupid to change the pickguard.

  6. OK, it's beginning to sound like all here. I love the fact you want me to post whatever I feel like. Takes the pressure off a little. I will try to mix it up and post a little everything each time I do it. A lot of my stuff is in a lot lower grade than you guys so if I don't have to post my vg book next to one of Cat or Richard's 9.8 CGC copies it makes me feel a little better. Unfortunately, unlike most of you guys, I'm a working stiff so I will do it in spurts when I get the time. Maybe the mystery of what will pop up will keep it a little more fun.

A little story about low grade vs high grade. I remember going to Diego one year and finding a book I had wanted for a long time. It was kinda low grade but I was stoked to get it at all. I was showing a dealer the book and gushing over it. A guy walked up and said: "Oh yeah that's a cool book but I have the Mile High copy" Wow, what a "spoon" wilter. I felt like saying something but I just put it away and slinked off. Now, I know you guys are true lovers of this stuff so I won't feel bad putting up anything. The GA crowd is really where it's at. I don't think I've even been over to General since I started this thread. Besides, I'm kind of a little scared of them anyway...

So hang in and I'll try to make this fun.

  7. Nice run of This Mag is Haunted! Yeah, that #3 is real tough. I've got the run too. #3 was one of the first ones I got so it didn't seem that hard at the time but I soon realized that I never saw it again. Isn't Worlds of Fear #2 similarily tough? I know they are both impossible in grade because of the paper stock they used in that month.

  8. OK gang. This has gotton a lot bigger than I thought it would. I pretty much assumed that this being a comic book board, that is what you guys wanted to see. I am a little surprised at the reaction to the other stuff. As you can see, I love everything. I am pretty focused on the catagories I collect and pretty much only hang on to the vintage stuff.

My question to you boardies is how would you like to see this thread progress? I can't show you everything as I doubt I'd live that long. So, would you like say a few comics, a few pulps, a rack, a few premiums, a few toys ect or feature a larger "category" of stuff at one time? I have limited time to do this. I work full time, have a family, and lots of interests other than collecting. I obviously like spending time running down and finding this stuff. So it doesn't leave me a ton of time for this. I will have to pull stuff out and photo it ect. Looks like I will have to do this mostly on the weekends and post a bunch of stuff at once when I get a bunch of photos. So your patience and opinion will help.

Also a few have said, post everything in this thread. That will work for most of it except the comics maybe. Shouldn't I post Baker books in the Baker thread or precode books in the precode thread ect? Seems like they all belong together. I don't mix them all together in one box. I guess it is the OCD in me being a collector. I like organization. Sounds like maybe you want a thread like Bang Zooms? Now that was the best thread I ever saw on the boards. When he posted All American Comics up to #15 we all held our breath and then that beautiful #16 rolled out. Wow, that was fun! By the way, were is Bang Zoom? I hope he didn't burn out or get pissed off and I don't want to go that way. I'd like to do this slowly in some kind of order. Let me know your thoughts and glad I can make you guys (and gals SHARON!) happy.

  9. Mutant: VERY cool rack! I would want them both! I've got a bunch of PB's that would look great in your rack. But, I'm with you, the comic one would be my preference. I've got an old 1950's DC table top rack and a neat wall mounted Little Golden Book Rack. I love advertising and store display stuff. If it's comic related even better.

  10. Porcupine: Yeah, I've got some rock 'n roll stuff to. Some cool Beatles stuff and Filmore Rock posters. I've got a huge vinyl record collection but not too exciting visually. I like your icon. Are you a Felix the Cat fan? I've got a pretty respectable collection of 1920's-1930's Felix toys. Any interest? Would you rather see one at a time or just a large photo of a bunch of them?

  11. Glad you enjoy my stuff. Yeah, the Tales of Terror Annual is one of my favorite books. At the time I bought it it was the most I ever paid for a comic. If I told you you would laugh now but at the time it made me a little queezy. The reason I had to have it was because it contains the first issues of Tales from the Crypt, Haunt of Fear, Crypt of Terror and Weird Science #2. (contents vary on these). I got it from Moondog when he first started on eBay. Yeah, it a pretty nice one but like all my books, sometimes I'm happy to have one at all...

  12. You bet Mitch! You were a handsome devil back in the day. Still got those Timely's? Us geezers gotta stick together.

Hey guys, I just did something none of you have been able to do. Have Mitch show us some of his comics!

  13. OK, a couple more. First up is my meager comic load from Brimfield, MA a few years ago. If you haven't been you gotta put it on the bucket list. I go about every other May. The Spy Smasher, Marvel Mystery and Wonder Woman #2 were bought in Addamstown a few days before at Retinggers. A guy had a huge pile of paper from a house clean. Got 3 BLB's and a Capt Midnight manual as well. Everything in the pile a 10 spot a piece! The comics were at the bottom. You gotta dig. The Mickey was from a doll shop my wife dragged me to. I think the lady felt sorry for me and pulled it out of a drawer and sold it to me. The other stuff was from the fields in Brimfield. I loved the Planet and Scoop.

  14. And lastly, I found some cool shots of a young Mitch! These were taken at an early San Diego Con. Looks like Mitch was smooth with the ladies. Great shots of a young proud collector with his prizes. Wow, Daring #1 and Cap #3 were even hard to find back in those days. Nice hair too although I believe mine was close to my belt in those days. Glad to see you are still collecting and loving comics Mitch. These young wippersnappers sure missed out didn't they?

  15. Next up we have the legendary Leonard Brown with a recent buy. I love this stuff still wrapped in bundles like they were ready for the trash. That wall of BLB's was mindblowing. (all top condition!)

Here is his and Richard Olson's buisness card. you can tell how old it is because they were only buying comics up to 1962! Hi Rich!

And last but not least, if you were one of the "chosen few" you could get into the vault at Collector's Book store with Malcom Willits. Nice stash of Batmans don't you think? (in multiples!) A side note Vinnie wasn't the first comic dealer to wear a tie althought he probably wears one better than Malcom. (Never did trust comic dealers in suits)...

  16. Thought you might enjoy some photos from the "ole daze. First up we have I believe David Belmont. He used to be a part of the American Comic Book Co. crew with David T Alexander and Terry Stroud. Back in the day, these guys were buying up collections like drunken sailors. Wonderful stuff coming in the doors everyday. This was from a party after a big Marvel buy. (Check out the stacks next to a hammered Belmont:

Here is an identified partier with a big pile of ECs!

  17. Richard Love your Dell rack. I like how it folds flat. I have one similar that says: "Hey Kids! Comics!" at the top. I use it when I do the flea markets and put cheap comics for kids in it. They love to bend them just like well did. Funny story about your rack. I saw one like yours at a toy show once just as Theo Holstein was buying it. Damn! I bump into him all the time at shows here. He's a character but real cool to talk to. He, like many of us still "loves the stuff". Now don't bite my head off gang, I love everybody!
