Here are some Double Detective pulps. These all feature the Green Lama before he was in comics. There aren't many Green Lama issues if memory serves me well.

That seems to be the consensus. I now tend to agree. It is kind of weird that so many artists could draw in the same style. Also most Disney stuff doesn't seem to be dated. Walt ran his company with an iron fist. I worked at the studio for a short time and there were a lot of rules. I was a bit of a rebel and didn't fit in too well...

Yeah, I look for comics, toys, premiums, robots, pulps, advertising stuff, political pins, sports ect. Have found some great stuff in Addamstown, Kutztown ect. Always fun to hunt in different areas. Out here I know all the players. There, everything is fresh and different. Do you still find any GA comics out there? Oh, a Zoomer is a good one! I've got a couple in my robot picture.

The price went up and the collections disappeared. I can still find Little Lulu, however.

 

All but one of those was from the flea markets. Did you used to search for robots in PA? I knew a guy that did that. I asked him about the robot I had as a guy and he called it a "Zoomer".

OK, Kids, here is another Baker oddity. Record Book of Famous Police Cases Giant WITH the Mexican version. Can't be many of these out there. This weekend I delved into my Giant/Annual boxes. I forgot how many St John annuals I had. (I think I am missing only 2). I used to buy every one I could because I loved annuals and Matt Baker did most of the St John ones. They aren't all Romance though. I've got to put them on my photobucket. Any you would like to see first?

No, very little. They take up too much room. I do have a few wartime Superman's and some Betty Boop sundays I thing somewhere.

Those "low graders" would be fine with me! I take what I can get on this stuff.

Here's one to get you started. It ain't the best copy but I'm glas to have one at all. I think tricolorbrian started a thread on this and got very little response. I wasn't on the boards then so it hasn't been posted. I don't have much else in sci fi annuals.

I've got a couple of those. Just haven't dipped into the sci fi boxes yet. I pulled out a bunch of annuals and giants this weekend, Also did some misc GA stuff and pulps. I have my stuff by publisher and genre. My aim is to put up stuff that most people haven't seen. Most comics have been shown here many times so I will look for ones I think are a little more obscure. So I will get around to it.

Hi TomYeah it is a scarce one. I only personally know of one other. I got it from a collector in England years ago. I traded him a U.S. 1940 version for it.

Thanks for sharing!! Most people have never seen the Superman Great Britain pinback button. I know of only two examples and this might be the third depending.

Great photos Cat! I wish I took more photos but I spent most of my time buying as many funny books as I could and partying. I do remember Kirby and Lee sitting by the pool at the El Cortez signing autographs, drawing schetches and playing to their adoring fans. Great guys and times. I remember Kirby usually had a big cigar.

I present to you the ATO McBomb pinback button. Something you don't see everyday or most likely never. Interesting little button. I found it years ago and liked it's look. Thought it might be comic book or radio related. I have seen 2 over the years in Ted Hakes auctions. He wasn't sure either but listed it as a comic book. Then lo and behold, I was thumbing through the all Matt Baker issue of Alter Ego magazine and found this. Looks like the strip might never have been produced. The buttons were probably promo items never distributed. Too bad he wasn't a dame! Sorry, the photo looks a little distorted. The button is 1-1/4" round and is a cello covered metal. Enjoy!

Next up is a neat piece I got at an estate sale. It is a hand drawn/inked get well card. Probably given to some one who worked at the studio. Judging from where I got it and the clothes of the woman in the drawing, looks like mid 1940's. Can any one tell me who the artist might be? Looks like Barks maybe. I know a lot of artists worked there and they had to follow the "house style". It is signed by someone, but I can't figure out who it is. Just curious. Any help would be appreciated!

It was raining all weekend so no flea markets for Robotman. He did use his time wisely and took a bunch of photos for the bucket.

First up is something for Richard. The Yellow Kid Pin Cushion is late 1890's. I got it on eBay way back when I started around 2000. My wife found it listed under "Black Americana" so I got it for a song.

The Amos and Andy piece is a heavy pot metal painted paperweight. I was told it was a gift from the studios to special people. Probably from the 1930's and cool as all heck!

Very cool cover for a western. How come I never see cool westerns "out in the wild?

Hi Cat. That ship puzzle is awsome. I love those early pieces. The printing is so vivid. My wife gets those from time to time (not like yours). The Marvel Mystery painting is breathtaking. It is one of my favorite MM covers. Is it a Schomburg recreation?

The nice copy you snagged is probably the officially licensed art print. It was produced in two forms, the signed/numbered limited edition, and an unsigned version. I believe the signed editions were limited to 300 and the unsigned we're limited to 1500 each (Alex did three licensed prints of popular Timely covers from the many cover recreations commissioned in the 70's & 80's). Of course, this is from memory, I'll have to do a fact check to verify numbers and provide info. on the art-print's publisher.

I was talking about the original comic. Those prints are Kewl too!
