  1. Finish buying my golden age dc want list Expand my golden age want list Start buying a more equal amount of golden and silver age dc books. Go into poverty
  2. Haha, yeah, I'm terrible at remembering to post pick ups online. I'll have a couple more nice ones to post soon once they arrive!
  3. Here's to a good year of collecting golden age and credit card bills! I finally hopped into the golden age market last year and am glad I did.
  4. Last minute take per PM You're welcome everyone. I took one for the team snagging this beauty!
  5. Yes, I am. Seeing people's pickups here and auction houses are how I find books that interest me. I generally don't post anything but a pick up now and then because I don't have much for comic book story knowledge to contribute. I appreciate the cover art and the characters (from more of a nostalgia perspective) as opposed to the written stories. I prefer other forms of entertainment in my free time.
  6. As a mid 90's millennial, I love collecting comics because of my memories of the action figures, cartoons, and movies growing up. I don't give two craps about reading comics to be honest. I've only read less than 50 probably in my life and don't really enjoy it. I just like the characters, the covers, and the nostalgia. I know I'm just a single case, but I imagine there are a decent amount of others with a similar mindset out there. I would speculate that it will be more from the current kids/teens as they grow up with all of the superhero movies recently and, hopefully, have more disposable income than the average person in my generation. I think collecting is still a big thing for my age generation: magic cards, digital video game libraries, books, records, etc. I see it a lot with people and friends. I think lots of people are more limited in income in my age range, so they may not collect items from the more conventional and generally more expensive collector markets. I do see lots of major collecting of more conventional items/markets in those with higher incomes at my age. I'm not saying there will be enough to replace all of the older collectors (I don't know about that myself), but I think there will still be a decent market for it in the years to come. Just my opinion at least.
  7. I did some 4th of July shopping! Very happy to have the first appearance of my favorite superhero growing up.
  8. I think finding slabbed DC SA non-major keys at GPA or less is reasonably likely, at least from my experience at both local and large conventions. I haven't been able to find a >$1000 DC key at FMV for a while. I don't look at Marvel much anymore, but I imagine it's way less likely.
  9. Thanks! Definitely my favorite cover I own and I thought the Shade was pretty cool, so that's a nice bonus.
  10. Here's to hoping this post is long enough that the 122 makes it onto the next page if it works that way! Edit: Awwwwwwww
  11. Some non-10 centers-purchased this year. Very happy with finding a nice 140 finally
  12. Even though the page quality is less than ideal, I was very happy with how the showcase presents! Anyways, I've been on a Flash buying spree the past year.
  13. When I was in high school 4-6 years ago, I used to collect mostly the 'highest graded' keys from the later Bronze Age through more recent books because I wanted the "best of the best" for my books and I couldn't afford super high grade silver keys at the time. When I looked at what I had when I stopped collecting due to college starting, I realized that a lot of what I had was a bunch of comics that I spent stupidly too much money on that didn't care for. I sold them off, kept the mid grade, older comics I enjoyed having, and still don't regret it.
  14. I got out of collecting before college started and sold a lot of it for living expenses (and magic cards :P), but these are a couple of the favorites I kept. I'm graduating soon and am finally getting back into collecting, so I went through the pictures I had saved on my computer. These were the only 10 centers I think I ever had, but they are two of my favorite covers.
  15. I prefer not buying signed silver age books. They never look as nice to me for some reason. I like the look of signed bronze age or newer books, so I don't really know the reason. This applies to all silver age books unless it's signed by Carmine Infantino... I've always been tempted by that Showcase 8 signed by him
  16. I prefer 4.5-5.5 if the book is $1000+ in that grade range. Otherwise, I aim for 7.5-8.0. My sweet spot is 9.2 if I can afford and justify it for my favorite 10 or so books.
