  1. Thanks for taking a close look at this, James. Since I have a bunch of these, I tried comparing the original book to a second in the specific spot that you highlighted. Three possibilities: 1. You have an eye like an Eagle 2. I am as blind as a bat 3. My photos were misleading I’d lean toward the second option although given what I paid a few years ago, I would be surprised if someone touched them up. A second book: Dan
  2. Yeah it seems difficult to justify the extra expense at 9.2/9.4 prices. And if history is any indication, I am no better at grading comics than I am guessing PSA grading for my cards! Thank you
  3. Thank you. I saw that and was surprised by the run up in prices. Then again, I see that my hulk 181 is up over $8000 now. I thought about listing it but decided to hold Would you invest in grading these?
  4. Let’s try some new photos maybe overly optimistic with 4.5
  5. Oh ok....that must be why I got 14 of them for $100. I now see that this is 1988. The limited was 1982 right? I need to read comic book collecting for dummies! Thanks coco
  6. I picked up a bunch of these when I purchased my Hulk 181 (9.4) three years ago. Are they worth grading? Guesses on this? The others are comparable.
  7. Just now received the magazine back. The crease was indeed a killer but the book still came back with a universal grade of 5.0. I am happy with that. Thanks to everyone for their input!
  8. David, I definitely do not feel misled and feel your advise was solid. btw, the screening fee was 1% of market value, not $10. Its all good here. Hopefully, I will receive a grade of 4.5 + and I will be happy. thanks for your input. Dan
  9. For me, validation was never considered an issue. Just as restoration is not a concern.
  10. Just heard back on the screening and they indicated that "the magazine did not require pressing services and will be held to transfer for grading." I guess that I expected more details but we should see soon enough.
  11. This seems like the most rational couse of action! As you suggest, I spoke with the office and they will be screening before anything else is done. Thanks for your insight and words of wisdom.
  12. Thank you. I will be sure to deliver the news.....good or not so good!
  13. Thanks so much for this input. I called CGC this morning and they can intercept the magazine and have it pressed prior to grading. Of course, this will take an extra 8-10 weeks but it seems well worth it. Stay tuned.....
  14. Not looking to sell it. I was responding to his question where to sell his 90's magazines. I agree about the risk which is why I was trying to balance downside risk with the upside. I think that at worse, I break even with a 4.5. My guess was a 6.0 on the magazine but we'll know in three days.......I will report back regardless. thanks
  15. I think you are correct but wish you the best of luck in finding the right market!
  16. For $3700, I might get a little upset. ? Not an expert in this space but tried to do my homework before committing. An 8.0 could get me $9000. Prices continue to trend higher. At the risk of stating the obvious answer to your side note....ebay?
  17. The reprint has a recantangle in the upper right and three staples. The original has a square and two staples. By all accounts, this would seem to be an original.
  18. I sent the magazine off to get graded on Saturday, paying roughly $150 for grading. Did I fail to take advantage of any obvious opportunity to improve the grade? What would be you advise at this point. CGC is scheduled to receive the book on Wednesday. An 8.0 would be awesome!
  19. Based only on the photos shown and assuming they are an accurate reflection of the overall condition of the magazine, what is the lowest grade that you can see? Trying to manage downside risk. thanks
  20. I figured it had to be at least a 5.0 which would probably allow me to break even so I took a chance. Why do you say that "it cant be"? The purchase price? I will send it off to cgc next week and i am guessing that paypal will cover me if not legit. It loks correct though, doesnt it?
  21. I just purchased this on ebay. What is your best guess on the grade range? thanks dan
