I love this thread — hard to see these days… threads like this (and members like esquirecomics) were one of the main reasons which made me decide to join the boards, over 10 years ago.
Agree and…I think many of us could say the same about YOU.

Sorry to hear about the income freeze.
What I remember most about your posts is your artistic eye for unusual stuff. Hope you get to throw more funny money at funny books again sometime soon.

THIRD ITEM:
IF BOMBS FALL!
For this I have a comparable. Heritage sold one of these last October under this listing: "If Bombs Fall! #nn (Review and Herald, 1942) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Off-white to white pages. The first copy we have ever offered of this scarce book. WWII Air Raid Manual with illustrations by Milton Caniff. Not listed in Overstreet. CGC census 9/23: 1 in 3.0, 1 higher." It looked like this:
The copy I'm selling looks like this:
The interior of this looks good:
Heritage sold theirs for $528. This is an air raid manual with a cool cover of bombs exploding and a bomber in the midst of a fiery crash, and some illustrations by Caniff and others. But its mostly text. Digest sized. Because this one has some paint I think on the cover (see the white spot), I believe Heritage's is better both back and front. So I'm willing to let this one go for a lot less. PRICE: $100.

So if you want to make an offer, make it quick and don't be surprised if I wait a bit to see if I get a "take" first. If you really really want an item, just say "take."Buyer pays actual shipping cost including insurance for full purchase price. If you have your own collectibles insurance and want me to ship under your shipping label, that's fine. For this auction, I anticipate that all shipping will be by USPS flat rate medium box. You can propose an alternative shipping means, but I get a right of reasonable refusal if I'm uncomfortable with the means.I prefer payment by check, m.o., wire, Zell or equivalent; however, I am open to other options.I will generally take a return if notified within 3 days of delivery.FIRST ITEM:A 1944 Dick Tracy cover (6" x 9") by Chester Gould showing a bare-bottomed Hitler and Tojo getting bombed until they sing?Does that exist?Price: $40. Could be made more pretty as cover shows some texture. Interior is the music for the songs on the cover. PQ is in IMHO off-white to light cream at worst. Staples show oxidation with minor transfer to center sheet music. None of that matters to me, as the image is cool, and the inexpensive price reflects the condition issues. Items like this have no comparables because most comic fans are still learning that this kind of stuff exists. In a CGC world, more and more will figure it out.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Unless I am subbing for a math teacher, I'm pretty much just a glorified baby-sitter.
I mean...you're in pretty good company...

Agree with all of the above comments. If somebody is looking for a low or even mid-grade copy of this book - this is the one to snag.
Also - what were your poor kiddos doing while their substitute teacher was looking up GPA stats?
I picture you in the classroom like this:

YEEAAAAAAAAAA, BOY! I saw this and thought of you. Glad you nabbed it!
Such a fantastic run of books in so many ways. The OG “Dr Von Chilla” initially turned me onto the series with his original owner books that he gifted me like the kind man he was - and I have forever had a penchant for the series because of it.

You might want to start a thread in the General section to get a lot more forum members to see about these stamps.

Hello!
I picked this FF41 double-cover up off the boards this morning and am VERY curious to know if anybody here has any ideas about the custom MMMS name stamp that appears on the cover with the member's name, as appears here for "Willie"? (of the Willie Cosey variety; not the Willie Lumpkin variety)
Thanks in advance for any help!
-
Hello,
If any generous and savvy boardie out there knows more about the CUSTOM MMMS name stamps - I’d love to know more (of the Willie Cosey variety; not the Willie Lumpkin variety).Signed,
In Search of Willie

Ha nice - ya torrential downpours here in Santa Barbara, …so I feel you over here on the other side of the globe, re surfing work.
nothing like a convention to get the blood flowing
and I also have no doubt your stuff will move. I’m just an impatient little preacher, that’s all.
