  1. And as Kevin said it was cool to pitch suggestions, here are some: -Game of Thrones cast (especially as the final season will be airing in 2018, and I seem to recall some previous cancellations...) -Westworld cast (specifically Thandie Newton - new season of this show comes out in 2018) -Prison Break cast -Current and former SNL players (worth noting, TCU gets current ones for their students frequently on Friday evenings, in Sept. 2017 they had Cecily Strong and Pete Davidson, and last Spring they had 2-3 others on Fridays as well) -Famke Janssen (Was at Fan Expo Canada) -Kelly Hu (I know she attends conventions, plus she was in X2 with Famke!) -Ernie Reyes Jr.
  2. That means almost 1/3 of the announced celebrity guests have canceled.
  3. Yeah...this is really bad, especially this close to the event.
  4. Just wanted to toss this out there....a Westworld Experience like NYC has would be really cool. (And so would Thandie Newton as a guest) https://www.facebook.com/pg/WestworldHBO/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1959510957651621
  5. No CGC at Dallas is a huge mistake...especially considering how wild it was this past year...
  6. Here's a question, with Kristian Nairn in attendance (and hopefully other Thrones guests too (and I definitely hope you guys get some big Thrones names for Fan Expo next year, as it will be right before Season 8)) - will there be an Iron Throne for photographs at Fan Days?
  7. Hey Kevin, at this time are you currently pursuing guests for Fan Expo 2018? I recall last year you asked for suggestions....after the full slate for Fan Days is announced, is it ok to make suggestions in the FXD thread? https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/412968-fan-expo-dallas-2018-april-6-8-dallas-tx/
  8. From Dallas Fan Expo: Batman Mask of the Phantasm signed by Kevin Conroy ("I am Vengeance, I am the Night, I am Batman") and Mark Hamill (Ha! Ha! Ha!). Edit: Thanks to all of the very hardworking CGC witnesses that weekend. I appreciate you guys.
  9. Michael Bleach Victoria Atkin Emilio Rivera Peter Mayhew Henry Ian Cusick added.
  10. Charlie Cox Pom Klementieff Geoffrey Cantor This is a really awesome lineup, Comicpalooza. Three out of the four Defenders, in addition to many of their other cast mates...I hope Dallas is paying attention, because it really doesn't compare to Rocky Horror.
  11. Saw this article today and all I could think about is how well this concept would apply to the high profile signings and potentially photo ops at conventions like this. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/universal-orlandos-jimmy-fallon-ride-eliminates-the_us_58e7b56ee4b06f8c18beeb2b " The Official Universal Orlando app allows guests to make a reservation for “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and reserve a spot in the virtual line. Nothing new here. Disney pioneered this system with FastPass+ that allows you to reserve spots for attractions through its MyDisneyExperience app. With Universal’s Virtual Line, when your turn to ride arrives, you head to the “NBC Studios” entrance, and that’s where Universal got really clever. You enter “NBC Studios NYC 30 Rock” facade, receive a colored Peacock card, and continue along on your Studio Tour. The color on your Peacock card corresponds with lights throughout the studio. When the lights change to your color, it’s your time to board the ride. But what do you do in the meantime, stand and wait in line? Nope. You’re free to wander about the first floor Memorabilia Hall filled with props and artifacts from each and every era of The Tonight Show ..." The latter half of that is just like wandering around the exhibition checking out vendors. And to address the phone signal issue...why not have WiFi available? And phone charging stations too...phone charging stations are a given at most major gatherings nowadays.
  12. The incentive is you'll receive an immediate notification to come get in line for your picture/autograph! I didn't use the app at all this year. That would be a reason for me to use it.
  13. In addition to TVs, an app with push notifications would be nice, although I know not everyone has a smartphone. There were times where simply going downstairs was a problem...I had to wait in line to go down the escalator, which was a bit ridiculous.
  14. I didn't mean to suggest I had an issue with those specific guests, I didn't. I'm glad people who did had them resolved. I was just pointing out the reviews keep coming in, and they're not good. I was referring to the general issues with crowd control, overselling the show, poor use of space/venue, etc. You can't seriously be suggesting Fan Expo shouldn't be recognizing/acknowledging these things publicly? I saw many comments on Facebook from people who said this was their first and last con experience. How is publicly pretending the event was a success the right course?
  15. Day 3 since the Con...still no public acknowledgement there were any flaws or problems. Meanwhile... http://nerdsworld.tumblr.com/post/159124589113/fan-expo-dallaswhat-in-the http://www.comicsbeat.com/con-watch-an-angry-crowd-formed-when-jeffrey-dean-morgan-and-norman-reeedus-departed-early-from-fan-expo-dallas/
  16. It's nice to recognize this, Kevin...and I think it would be helpful if the Fan Expo Dallas social media accounts recognized that there were issues too....so far it seems like they're pretending everything went perfectly, asking for feedback to be emailed, or remaining silent. Something like 1. Apologizing for overselling the event (I feel like we're not gonna get this one), and/or 2. Recognizing there were issues with crowding, organization, vendor/exhibitor placement, etc. 3. Promising to better use the space next time - I think it's clear more halls need to be used, and some only for autographs/photo ops. All this would go a long way with people. The frustration is real and palpable out there.
  17. North Texas newspaper comments on some of the various problems... http://ntdaily.com/the-dose-dallas-fan-expo-2017-was-an-enjoyable-mess/
  18. I hope the team is aware of the frustrations, because the Facebook comments are definitely piling up.
  19. If they moved autographs and/or photo ops to another floor, that would definitely assist in the foot traffic. I experienced numerous traffic jams today where people walking routinely came to a halt. Whatever decisions are made for 2018, it has to involve something like this, or a change in venue. Period.
