If there was no FMV limitation in place, and we're living in a complete dream of an alternate universe, sure there's a chance that even a small collector like myself could be convinced to trade for one large famous piece. For me it would likely be the quadruple cover to Jim Lee's X-Men 1. That piece would be a top 5 all time nostalgic favorite for me as well as a valuable and liquid piece that can be moved easily should the need arise to sell in an emergency. I don't want to start another new thread just to say this, but can we just give another shout out to Felix for all that he is doing as a rep. Never mind all the questions he answers, the extras he provides, the great pricing representation and commission availability. What about just the little things that go ignored by a lot of other dealers/reps? Case in point, I just received a Christmas card from Felix. A handwritten card. The dude has a family, hundreds of customers, business interests, and yet he still took the time to do holiday cards for the business. Props! I just wish a number of other dealers/reps would follow suit in at least being as prompt at answering questions and shipping as quickly as Felix does. Sometimes you spend thousands with a rep of a prominent modern artist and yet are still left scratching your head at how you can't get a simple e-mail response from them after all that patronage. Hats off to Felix for his tireless work in promoting the hobby and making it more accessible than ever to new collectors!

Like many Image books, Outcast definitely reads better in trade form. Individual issues had a very slow pace. Brigg's Land is surprisingly low, but it feels like something that's a prelude to the show, an accessory that won't stand on its own. Recent Vikings books I've read are similar, quality written and well illustrated but a side note to the TV show.

Compared to the Black Friday $50 Mystery Box from two years back, this MegaBox is a bit of a downgrade. The old box had: Four t-shirts 1 exclusive comic 2 bonus comics 2 bonus misc items This box has: One exclusive () t-shirt 1 exclusive comic 1 pin 1 black Negan that can't even be displayed in a blister package 1 plastic Lucille keychain ($4 value) 1 Super Fight mini deck It's great for exclusive items for collectors, but it doesn't pack the same punch as the old box.

I had this happen at Emerald City with Jason Shawn Alexander. $200 commission was paid with Square via Credit Card and promised by the end of the weekend. I had no reason to doubt him considering he had a short list of three names and was whipping through his pieces. Of course he didn't finish on time and tried to book it from the con by noon on the last day. I was able to catch him and was promised the piece by the end of the week. Then it became two weeks, then a month. Then it was promised by the end of two months, at which point he stopped responding to e-mails but still had plenty of time to post on Twitter about fun art he was illustrating at parties and for upcoming exhibitions. Credit card chargeback and a Square report got me my money back, but lost Jason Shawn Alexander a customer for life. I recycled his Empty Zone TPB out of disgust. Point being, even if you try to minimize risk and get a verbal contract that a piece will be completed by the end of the show, still make sure to use either a credit card or other method where you're protected.

Greg has posted some new pieces on his website at capulloart.net and has lowered pricing on some previously posted pieces. Does anyone have any insight as to who inked Greg's pencils on his run of Spawn? Although early issues (16-20) were clearly marked as Dan Panosian and Art Thibert, later issues seem to have had a variety of inkers. Even within the same issue, I've heard some people say that inkers varied from Todd McFarlane to others. If anyone has any information about this, it'd be greatly appreciated!

It's very frustrating to see sharp declines in some of the Image series as a result of these Marvel/DC variant issues. Over their last five issues, some of the best world building books on the market (Lazarus, East of West, Black Science) have suffered 2K+ declines in their sub-20K print runs. This is truly a bummer since the stories are just getting better.

Definitely, that page 21 has a lot of great classic Adlard detail behind a zombie fence. IIRC 22-23 is a DPS with Rick's damaged face, a rare super detailed close-up.

Not a lot of art or detail to look at, but then again most of Walking Dead is about the characters and the writing. Still, a very memorable last page to the first omnibus and the double meaning proclamation to " WE are the Walking Dead." The piece was also visible in the 10 years of Walking Dead video published on the SkyBound site. I'd thought about this piece for a long time prior to this, but the lack of visible faces and large dark shadows were a deterrent.

This series looks so good framed!

It would be understandable if the title could not continue due to low sales, serious illness, or something else that drastically impacted the creators' ability to sustain themselves. But this is a title with a solid following, some of the better selling Image TPBs, and Comichron numbers ranging from 14K for Issue 9 to just under 12K for the latest one. These are very decent numbers unlike other recent series like Five Ghosts where the sub-5K monthlies justifiably impacted the creators' ability to continue. Very disappointing to hear this news and just an additional reminder that some creators fail to realize that their past behavior may haunt them in future pursuits.

Just came back from ECCC and I was surprised to find a new exclusive McFarlane figure there. Didn't take a picture, but it's the same card shape as the current available McFarlane Walking Dead exclusives: Ezekiel, Jesus, Alpha, Michonne. This is the new post-127 version of Rick with the closely cropped hair, and similar to the other figures it comes in a standard or bloody version for $25 each. Also, finally got to meet Big Clutch and quickly chat with him about original art. Really great personable guy, don't see too many vendors smiling after three days but there he was happy and helpful. Tell Robert Kirkman if he wants Platt art he knows where to find me .

Joe S had it priced at $1100 + shipping and I figured it would sell very quickly at that price. Not too many Governor action pages, especially with a sword and several prominent characters. I'm not into the smaller art pages but that was a great example.

One of the best issues to date. It still surprises me how much of the original art is still available for purchase. Owen Freeman has been killing it with the covers and the Poison TPB cover is reminiscent of a movie-styled poster!

The Lake Arts Festival just had a charity auction that may have gone under the radar. Four bidders were willing to pay at least 3200 GPB. I believe this would have fetched more in a publicly advertised US auction house.

It's a solid Absolute edition. The binding is firm with very little gutter loss There is no dust jacket as the edition sports a glossy cover with new artwork, while the internal pages are matte much like the Deluxe Vertigo hardcovers. Usual bonus materials in the form of covers, sketches, some other backmatter replicated from the Deluxe hardcovers. If you already have the Deluxe hardcovers, the only upside is larger pages. But as far as gifts go, this a great all encompassing volume.

In all honesty, the first TPB has been available for over two years at the Image intro $9.99 price. If someone hasn't had a chance to catch up to the series, or even try it out, it's more by their own hand and nothing that will be affected by the hiatus. The series is a blast and three volumes are available to enjoy. No reason not to try it unless you don't like the genre. Plenty of great recent series like Sheltered, Zero, and C.O.W.L. have had similar shorter runs and are still incredibly fun reads.

The comic itself is superb, and the $9.99 TPB price point is a great bargain to attract new readers. When I figure a series is a long-time keeper worth multiple future reads, like Chew, I'll grab a deluxe hardcover and the larger page size is a nice bonus that amplifies that pages closer to their OA size. Most Image hardcovers have been so nice that it's easy to become spoiled. You see something like Wayward with 50+ pages of extra bonus materials and you start expecting everyone to provide that for the higher price. Lazarus was one of the best hardcover values out there and I ended up triple dipping. Not only did it provide all the variant covers, but it had a ton of back-matter published in the comic.

Has anyone gotten the Deluxe Hardcover version that just came out? I already have the regular issues but typically grab the deluxe HCs for the bookshelf. However, this one looked quite underwhelming at the LCS. Looks to be the same dims as the floppies and TPBs, not oversized or any other special treatment like Chew/Revival/almost any other recent Image deluxe version. Kind of bummed since I like to reread the stories with larger paper stock for more visual details.

Poison Part III is out today! Here's a great write-up from cover artist Owen Freeman on his creative process for this issue's cover. I had a chance to see the original art at a show prior to publication and noticed how the gun had changed positions.
