  1. Here's a question for Mad Magazine Collectors. I own a Mad 139 CGC 7.5 Gaines Copy that I bought on a whim for the princely sum of $24 in a Heritage auction in 2004. Well the book is perfect but for the back fold-in was folded. The fold's are all non color breaking and, I think, could easily be pressed out leaving a 9.6/9.8. Does anyone think that pressing is a good idea or does the fact that Gaines himself may very well have done the fold in hold any collecting value? Not an expensive book but a really iconic cover IMHO. Fold in was pictured from a raw copy.
  2. So true. A little more devastating than let's say Chuck's 30,000 square feet fully engulfed!
  3. Bought this Norem Savage Sword 46 preliminary at a recent Heritage auction. Love it.
  4. Was there on Saturday with my son and all I can say is wow. Totally overwhelmed by the amount of beautiful books and art for sale. Not sure if the dealers were making any money but the con was very well attended. Really wanted to check out the Berk collection at Metropolis but went to the Big East final at the Garden instead. What a day.
  5. Not gonna get there until 4. Save a few books for the rest of us,please.
  6. Don't know much about these other than they are foreign made, 12" x 18" or so and beautifully reprint the color Buck Rogers strips. If anyone has more info do tell.
  7. Thought I'd match up your awesome front cover with the back cover to war heroes 3. Funny how 70 years can change your friends.
  8. This one (or two) immediately came to mind.
  9. Certainly these boards, amongst other reasons, will make my grading company decision simple when I start to get books graded.
  10. Needed a slicer for my coffee shop. Used nearest first to search for one. Bought one and it was my next door neighbor! He threw in an awesome pair of mountain skis too.
  11. The Norem Savage Sword cover went for about what it sat on ebay at for months. About the same as a much earlier cover went for in the last HA auction. Both were nice but this one was masterful.
  12. What's really peeving me off is that I was offered a piece for 5k four months ago that I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on thats already selling for more with time to go.
  13. If you see a guy there with a 100 dollar bill wrapped around a wad of singles stop me and say hello.
  14. Back in the day I found the best way to move books like that was to make a pyramid of high to low value (saleable) books or lots to sell on ebay and start them all at .99. The more desirable books will draw eyes to the lesser books and offering combined shipping will lead to more sales. Rotate the higher end books from a previous month at buy-it-now and best offer listings. Use prior sales data on ebay to insure your lots will sell. My guess is you will get at least 50% fmv. Can't lie though, 15 years later I'm seriously missing some of the gems I sold.
