   I don't think it could have been said better and I imho a lot of buyers are going to wake up one day soon and all do the "what was I thinking dance" why didn't I pick one up at 30-35k? When the same crowd that is paying 2k for a NYX 3 9.8 realizes how undervalued these major historic keys are watch out. Regardless of what many members of the "old guard"  feel there has to be some major market adjustment at some point. The astronomical prices being paid for bronze/copper age books is pulling everything up and lets be clear here we are not talking about irrelevant characters ie cowboy books when that group figures out we have been sleeping on Jokers, Cat woman, Caps, Bucky and Capt Marvels first appearances they won't care about those purple labels a lot of us still turn our noses up at. PS using todays standards at this point anyone who thinks Cap #1 can't be defined as rare should look at print runs on moderns, copper and bronze books and then come talk to me because the new crowd now looks at the "population" of 3k NM 98 in 9.8 & thinks wow that's all there are of those?

100% can't agree more on this, it's just a matter of time before the market makes a correction on books like BM 1 & Cap 1 with resto.  The old guard ( the  I remembers when BM #1 wasn't really all that rare) mentality is going to be a thing of the past on those two books and a few other iconic GA keys imho. For example I bought BM #1 3.5 resto years ago with a great looking cover ( yes it has a purple label & its trimmed "oh god noooooooo":) my intent was to upgrade but the right deal never came around & non resto BM1 are out of this working guys budget. I have valued it at about 25- 30k for several years, thinking that was a fair price based on the market However two weeks ago I was offered 35k & some trade (I  declined) as I know I am not going to be bale to replace it & regardless of it's value, being trimmed and having resto it is a dream come true to own & a highlight of my collection.

Hi, could you take the time to give close up pics of each book front and back, give the page quality and please note any and all defects including the number of checks on all spines of each issue & if your not 101% correct I will either want a 50% partial refund or hold you hostage with as negative feedback.........damn I thought this was ebay, sorry I am only looking to rip honest sellers off. I would agree & should have been clearer & said complete except the cover, meaning not missing the often gone insert page, ads or parts of pages.( as I noted we are in an era where panels cut from pages of the big 5 and some SA books are now commanding real money). I think a few Tec pages hit something like 10-15k or so not to long ago on Heritage & was trying to avoid going into that arena

     I think it's fair to say that we have now reached a point where many collectors are priced out of owning a 100% complete high/mid/low grade example of any of the top 5 GA Superhero books. 

     Assuming you don't want parts & can live without a cover complete/coverless are the cheapest grail entry point. So if your looking to join the club, what is a poor mans example going to cost you?

 nooooooooooooooooooooooo I have become the remember when guy!

   I have a local guy who has been selling me comics and toys for almost a decade( a quick flip guy, with a lot of hustle) & over the years he has found some amazing stuff from FF#1 to NYX & everything in-between, I am always honest with him on what the stuff is worth and we go from there. It's not often we can't come to deal that works for both of us. He recently ran into a nice solid early Marvel vf-ish Bronze age collection of mostly ASM & Hulk (137 books total). At some point the books had been picked as most of the heavy keys of the era were gone but whoever hit the books left a lot of stuff because I assume at the time those books had very little value. Anyway I started going over the lot tonight to come up with a fair offer and I am blown away by what just common VF/VF+ bronze are doing these days! HULK 131 is now a legit $30 book?  ASM 112 & 149 are $40 books? I am either getting really old or I am just out of touch because not one book in the lot is rare, hard to find or anything close to a major key with the best 2 book being a Hulk nm 141 & ASM 135 vf & I am looking at dishing out some real money here for what I consider nothing more then common bronze age filler books, I might even have to pass if his number is to high as moving these at those crazy prices seem like it might take some time.

Damn straight it's a cool book, we are in an era of ( panels from this book being sought after, not pages panels) so having an extensive resto Action #1 in your collection is pretty bad @ss . I wonder would cgc grade this book? If so the current owner should do so regardless of the potential for a lower grade.

No that's not it at all if your going to come on here and point out the data in a way that is helpful....that's great. However it only gives you so much insight ( its real simple in 2009 I bought 300 raw copies of Gi Joe #1 from a closed comic shop for $900 the are sitting in my closet at the store how do they play into you GPA data?)  Anyone claiming the GPA is enough data to make any conclusions knows nothing about data... or conclusions. .

Anyone using GPAnalysis as there only source of data would make that statement. For example can you tell me the print runs for NS copies of NM98 vs direct copies? Or can you give me some insight into how many high grade ungraded copies of NS ASM #300 are still sitting in collection? I guess we just have different standards when it comes to data.......................... or conclusion

I don't think there is any hard data on NS being more rare, but having grown up buying a lot of my comics off a spinner rack at the local 7/11 I know there are less high grade News Stands out there. There is no doubt it's harder/rarer to find NS 9.8

I also think based on some of the posts here some collectors feel like its an either or kind of thing, meaning if you collect heavy in the Bronze or Modern age your not a fan of the Golden or Silver age era, which is just silly. The reality is all the action right now is in Bronze to Modern era because to some extent its where a lot of collectors can afford to get into the hobby (& damn it's a lot fun right now). Keeping this post on topic I would again reference Archie TMNT #1 as an example the reason it's now a 1-2k book is because TMNT #1 First Prints have now been priced out of the range of a lot of new or younger collectors but collectors still want to have a TMNT key in their collection & be part of the club. 100% NM98 or ASM #300 in 9.8 is a lot of cash for a lot of people ( myself included) but 9.0 is not and for $800 bucks you can get a key with a character that is very relevant and popular & you don't care how many old timers say "but do they know how many are out there"?  I mean how cool is it t own the first appearance in comics of Bebop & Rocksteady if your 25 yrs old?

It's almost like some collectors want to see the bottom fall out to say see I told you so....its the same crapola I have herd for almost 4 decades of being a collector.

"I don't need anyone to grade my books", "I would never pay that for a comic", "I only buy what I love", "I don't buy my comics for investment".

No that's not my theory its a fact & what's laughable is just because you don't happen to know any 40 year olds who are putting down that kind of money you assume it's not happening. I mean this sincerely let me know if you want to get in touch with a few of them and you can look at there collections, I know a guy who is 44 yrs old and last week dropped 90K on a Jordon collection and another buddy of mine who is in his 40s (a Dentist) dropped 100k on a prototype Bobba Fett Action figure recently. Another fact is TMNT #2-4 ,Ralph, #3 variant (2nd & 3rd prints) and any of the Gobbly books have all had substantial increases over the same time frame as #1 first print better yet  just go take a look at the TMNT Archie #1 these days ( this was a $1 bin book not to long ago). I mean its just crazy for anyone to assume this is not real or its some dealer/auction house manipulation. Drop in on Heritage recent sales & take a look at Nintendo sales, Magic the gathering or the big dog Pokemon. I guess that's all the 60 year olds who just happen to be part of a Pikachu investment firm?
