Yes, but does it really make that much sense when history has shown us time and time again that these movie amd media related hype books that are driven up into the stratosphere for a short period of time in almost every single case falls back down to Earth by the time the movie comes out.
Have to disagree, I remember when the 1st Deadpool was announced ( Ryan did the mini promo). CGC 9.8 WP jumped over night from $300/400 to $800/1000+ With high grade raw's selling for as low as $50/100 in my shop one week to $300 the next. After the movie & the hype as expected it dropped, but not back down to pre movie levels but to around last years pre Covid norm of about $750/800. This tends to be the trend, look at the IM 55's sales history and numerous other books that jumped due to "movie hype" Yes there is pre movie high but in most cases the books settle at a significant higher price then their pre movie hype number. I also suspect we will see the same trend with todays crazy hyper market, using DP as example again if pre Covid a 9.8 avg was $800 & today the book is trending at $2800/3000.....I bet it settles in at 2k when life get back to being somewhat normal for most of us, which is still a big jump from pre Covid prices, but that's just 100% speculation, if enough NEW money comes into the hobby and stays in the game who the hell know ?

Some of those Valiant Nintendo books sell for a ton in high grade. There's someone on the Facebook Valiant Buy/Sell group selling up a big batch of them right now.
I upgraded my 9.0s to 9.6 this year and posted the extra here with no takers at $75, sold it on ebay in a few hrs at $99. I am sure it's not the same for everyone but I am finding that I am getting faster sales even when priced higher on ebay (I try and give the board members the 20% or more I am paying to evilbay) as I would rather sell the books here.

MY QUEST IS COMPLETE: NYX 3 in the house Not sure if all the books/post belong here if not sorry. But for the most part I have been & continue to be a GA/SA collector/investor (ie book I think will be worth more than I paid in a decade but have no real connection with) My real passion & interest is much cheaper & in specific runs/artists from my youth ie Simonson Thor, Byrne FF, Xmen, MOKU, Rom, Micronauts, Conan, Miller Daredevil/Batman, Cerebus. I have no interest in there future value & most are VF/NM raw & the reason I love hunting at local cons ( pre Covid). But about six months ago I decided to INVEST in a few modern/copper keys that I considered to be characters or books that had long term growth potential IMHO (10 yrs or more) & this week I completed my list with NYX 3.....................So here is a pic of that book and the 7 books that were on my list, the only one I want to upgrade is a Voldemort 9.8 first Spider Gwen that was so cheap I had to buy it $300 BIN. Total cost of all 7 books was apx 10,400 over six month. ( mid Ocober 2020)

It’s irrelevant wether you care or not . Comic books have changed . Pop culture has changed . We are no longer geeks collecting and sharing our hobby with nerds underground . This is full blown modern Americana pop culture .
You know what I find so ironic is you can go back decades at this point and its the same statements in one form or another over and over" I would never spend that much on a comic unless I loved it" "There are to many of them out there" "I would buy a rare golden age romance before I bought a modern" I am in it for the love of comics" blah blah blah. 20 years plus of a world wide internet market bringing in millions of new collector that is continually being fueled by TV shows, movies & social media has not convinced some collectors that it's not 1985 & Overstreet is still relevant.

That is his main point... new card money does not care about our old comic rules. They don't care that comic old guard worry over census population.
I can't agree more and after looking at many of the posts here by many of the " old guard" it's hard not to see his point of view...."I would only buy it if I like it" "I am not in it for the money" I can't understand how any can drop 2k on a modern book"

I'm not going to watch the video. Based on the title, I'm just going to assume it contains a bunch of footage from the mid-90s.
No it contains a point of view on WHY THE BIG CRASH many people on the board expect may never happen.

if by "these days" you mean for many years now, then yes, WP command higher prices in all books "these days."
Hi, maybe I wasn't clear in what I was trying to say when I said " larger prices" ie WP commanding even more then in the past, 100% WP have always been more sought after but looking at the current market trend many Bronze age keys with WP seem to really be commanding a higher % premium than in the past.

He makes some great points. Assuming his theory of sports card money being the primary force driving up comic prices is correct, I don't see a crash coming. It would take almost all that same new money wanting to bail at the same time and undercutting each other for it to crash. Otherwise if only some bail, the other new money will buy it up at the selloff rates and the market will remain largely the same.
His comparison to population numbers follows logic too, especially his point at the end about the ones that will forever remain in PC's no matter what the price is. The comic world definitely seems to have more nostalgia and sentimental value attached to their collections.
How many NM 98 9.8s are actually available right now? Maybe 10% of the census? When someone could sell their Jordan rookie and buy 20+ of them, it doesn't take very many of those happening to drastically impact the market.
I think new money wins the battle and stays a dominant force in the market.
I think its hard to gauge right now as everything is up but what impacted me more than anything about this video was his comparison of what the comic community considers a large census # vs how new people entering the hobby view those same numbers. When I start to think of it in terms of historic character impact vs census # for a book like 9.8 Hulk 181 or even a NS 1st Harley I think he makes a valid point that many book might just be way undervalued right now? I agree with your Jordan statement 100% yes it's extreme but the point is dead on! ( how many people need to get into our hobby to have a big impact on a book like NYX #3 9.8 if she becomes the next generation Wolverine?). If anything he also does not take into consideration that in MOST cases comic characters have a infinite longer collectable life span vs 99% of sports cards ( most cases Mickey Mantle is Mickey Mantle, Jodan is Jordan etc) Who was Don Mattingly?

And off white to white sold for $6,300 snap that is tempting
White Pages seem to be commanding a larger premium these days in all grades.

Sorry for the typo the book being sold is the 182 pictured not a 180. I assume you wanted 180 & want to void the purchase, just let me know either way. The AV #83 is the 8.0 pictured in the listing.

I love the Aardvark and have a complete run up to the Mid 200s ( jusy got to wacked for me) & I treasure the early issues However regardless of comic value WOLVERINE is the king of the Bronze age hands down. What I find so funny is there was a time in High School when I had the same conversation (1986) if it was Punisher or Wolverine.
