  1. Did Jamie take Oathkeeper with him? Or was it left with Brienne?

    One other old, nagging thought:

What was the story with the guy that gave the dragon eggs as a wedding gift to Dany in the first place?

It always seemed too glossed over to me.

  2. Sticking to the developments in this episode, I can't believe there isn't more angst being expressed about

    Spoiler

the death of the second dragon AND Missande. I am royally :pullhair:

As to getting to an un-rushed satisfactory ending, they have two and a half hours left. That's a complete movie. And they don't have to use time explaining motivations, or developing characters. They've had 7 years of that. The stage is set and the audience is properly educated.

...And they'll leave loose ends for the prequels and Martin's (quixotically hoped for) books.

But again, Dany is not the tactician that Tyrion, Jon and even Sansa can be. So to her, a head-on charge was all she knew and saw the dangers ahead of her. So maybe this also demonstrated her weakness in dealing with a larger threat?

Let's face it; when it comes to tactics (and to some extent strategy) Dany is an insufficiently_thoughtful_person.

That she's so headstrong (has she really listened to anybody's advice throughout the series?), is a disturbing thought thinking of her as a supreme ruler.

  4. I thought

    Spoiler

It was hard to watch, but I'm certain that was the intended effect.

I thought Arya killing the Night King was near perfect. (I actually let out a 'YES' when he crumbled to ice.) My only nitpick is that it didn't involve the weapon Gendry made for her. From the time I saw the plan, I thought its purpose in her mind was to specifically kill the Night King.

A little disappointed that the dead in the crypt were raised. I thought only those recently killed could be raised by the Walkers. A little suspect I think.

What about the other generals? I would have thought they would be independent of the King; being different "beings" from the masses of zombies.

Sorry to see Jorah killed, but it was a good death.

    Same for Theon.

Yeah, read that when it came out very early this morning and posted it a page back with the other reviews. But had also posted his follow-up to that where he had noted

But no worries. Now he made up for it even more. :insane:

As negative reviews go, that's not very strong.

    "Absolutely sticks the landing"   ?

It's more like praising with faint damnation.

Don't really see the appeal to this, personally. If anything I would prefer the labels to be smaller and less obtrusive; your eye should be drawn to the cover of the book, not the label.
