  1. Pretty sweet Yu variant with her on the cover. I'm in for a couple Yu variants-- not for speculating, though. I'm just Asian and happy for some representation
  2. I'd forgotten all about Constatine being in this! The mysticism set-up definitely goes there. Who knows, maybe the failed Guillermo del Toro JLD project will be a CW project instead Worst-case scenario ... we get Detective Chimp.
  3. Clone supposedly on track for a feature film ... http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/david-schulners-clone-getting-live-action-adaptation?utm_campaign=david-schulners-clone-getting-live-action-adaptation Probably due to sheer disbelief in its success, eBay isn't quite up to date yet ... but I'm hanging onto my sole copy of the Adlard #1. (Not to mention all those 5th Anniversary variants. ARGH!)
  4. Don't let her do it she'll want you to sell the collection next What's a backyard? Is that where kids play when they aren't reading comics?
  5. I'm 25. I got into comics when I was 8 or 9 with the kids' magazine, Spider-Man Magazine. I begged my parents to buy a subscription for me, but they didn't budge, so I tried to forge a check from their checkbook. That didn't work-- and my mom hid her checkbook pretty well after that Growing up, I read most of my comics through trades at the library. I never did get to buy a comic book, except for the odd Archie every now and then, until I started working at the box office in college, which is when I started buying digital comics with Manhattan Projects #1. Then I started buying physical comics with the #0s in the New 52, got my first slab with a Lee-signed Daredevil #2 in 2013, and the rest is (a very short) history. I'll get off your lawns now!
  6. Well, there wasn't a board in the bag, so it made it more difficult to open the bag without damaging the book-- even if I had scissors handy. Seems like an oversight to me, but maybe it's not as big a deal to other people.
  7. Bought comics from Dave and Adam's Card World and they were bagged, no board, in top loaders, in a FedEx envelope, in a cardboard box with packaging peanuts. That wasn't the problem, though. The problem was instead of tape, they used a DA Card World sticker to tape down the bag, resulting in a bag virtually impossible to open without damaging the book, especially considering there was no board. I ended up cutting the bag open, being extremely careful not to accidentally trim the comic. Heartstopping. Guess I should have known from the name of the shop that they wouldn't know how to work with comics ...
  8. Except the artwork is bad. The art may leave something to be desired, but they're not exactly aiming at the J.H. Williams III fans ... The lowest price I'm looking at feebay right now is $21.95. $14.99 and under sold out quick.
  9. I used to have all those and I gave them all away I still have a bunch of these boxed up with my original NES and games. Are they worth anything now? The #1 is still pretty popular on eBay. I haven't seen many Fun Club issues. Maybe not quite as well known or liked?
  10. Got my Nintendo Power magazines graded as a gift to my cousin, who introduced me to comics, videogames, and the whole concept of "mint condition" in the first place. Ironically, for a guy who was so into keeping trading cards and comics mint, his eight-year-old self didn't do a great job with keeping his Fun Club and Nintendo Power #1 issues mint Full story at the Nintendo Power thread! And apologies in advance for the low grades for CGC's first NP issues graded ever. We were very very young.
  11. Hey guys, just wanted to update with something awesome: CGC graded my Nintendo Power issues! Someone from CGC called me telling me that they would absolutely do it, which is good, because I was this close to going to the competition, ... and the books came back today! I only wish that CGC's first graded Nintendo Power books weren't so low-grade ... but what can ya do A little background on these: when I was a tyke, I was super shy. I barely talked to anybody, and I preferred to stay indoors than to go out and play (mostly because going out meant I would have my face pounded into the cement). One particularly bad summer, my older cousin, David, came to visit, and brought with him two things I'd never seen before: a Nintendo Entertainment System and some Japanese trading cards (which he insisted on keeping in mint condition-- the foundations of my collectorhood were born here!). It wasn't long before I was totally indoctrinated into these pillars of unrepentant geekery, and suddenly, I had something to talk about-- and someone to talk about it with. Years later, when I entered high school, David bequeathed me his collection of Nintendo Power magazines, saying I'd have better use for him than he did-- which was quite the gesture. And though we've fallen out of touch lately, I thought it would be an almost-as-nice gesture to send him back two of his earliest magazines-- along with one from my personal collection. Here they are! Sorry for the bad scans, I have a tiny scanner. And sorry about the low grades. We were, what? 7 years old? Sue us Send in your Nintendo Power issues! CGC is taking them. And hopefully they make for a great gift to a cousin who introduced me to collecting
  12. That has to be a store. I guess they opened them all and are selling the sketches on eBay and selling the regulars on the shelf unbagged. I opened 10, all regular. The O Malley should have legs when people see the cover. I opened three myself-- regular, of course. I also bought out the O'Malley. Going for $9.99-$14.99 on the bay.
  13. Hey guys, I'd like to send my signature series forms in to a facilitator to get some autographs done. Specifically, I want Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner on an Avengers book. I notice that on the Signature Series form there is a "Date Signed" box. Now, obviously I won't be able to predict when the facilitator can get them done, maybe on separate dates, maybe on one day-- so what should I put on the "Date Signed" box? Also, when should I check the "Additional Signature Same Show" box? I wish there were footnotes on these forms ... And finally (three questions) when should I check Photos and Sketches Submissions? Do I have to check that if I'm having, say, Dustin Nguyen draw a quick sketch on a blank? Thanks in advance!
  14. Off the top of my head, I can tell you that he charged me $500 for a shoulders-up, not on a blank, but on bristol. I think the cheapest sketching started at $200. I wish I still had his price guide handy ...
  15. What an incredible LCS find on that $300. My LCS doesn't have anything close to cool stuff like that! (I'm guessing living in Silicon Valley means the high rollin' techies have cleared out all the local LCSes.) I guess I should visit Arizona!
  16. Yes. Kamala Khan's got her fingers in everything, but there's plenty of boardies who are hoarding the ANMN Point Ones. It's the #17 2nds that are going for 300+ on eBay right now. And I guess the Adams (sketch) variant on Ms. Marvel #1. I can't recall any other second prints that have gone this crazy lately, actually.
  17. I accidentally sent my Nintendo Power magazines to CGC because I found out they graded magazines. Total rookie mistake-- I was too excited when I typed in "graded magazines" in Google. But really, I wish CGC would grade these. I'm pretty sure Nintendo Power has entertained as many, if not more, boys and men as Playboy
