  1. Of all books, they chose this one to adapt? It was ... not the best. But hey, if people are willing to buy my copies ...
  2. I adore Cliff's art, but I feel for Joelle, too. LADY-KILLER is aces. Also, finally got around to reading PAPER GIRLS #7. That panel where both Erins scratch their head after they hug each other made me smile.
  3. I had the same thought. But great trailer! The Wonder Woman trailer also looked great! GL's going to be ENTIRELY CG this time around. They figured last time the problem was that only the suit was CG.
  4. Brie was great in "Pilgrim." Haven't seen her in anything else. But I'm sure she's got the chops. Rousey must be sobbing in her ice cream somewhere.
  5. So THAT's how they're going to make Barry/Iris un-incestuous.
  6. That price is certainly higher than GPA. I just lost out on a blue for $1500 too. How I long to be part of this club ...
  7. Nice tip, although what's your source for her entering the 616? That page is from Avengers: Ultron Forever #1, yeah?
  8. Managed to sell a #7 at 110 this morning. My spare is going up ASAP because I'm betting on the first full instead of the cameo ... this might actually make me feel better about all the dented WoP variants I have of #7
  9. I managed to sell a II7 at 110 this morning. I have one more II7 slab left that I'm putting up later today, though with that CBR article I assume #9 is going to be the big one since it's the first full. Those are going straight to CGC now
  10. I grabbed those II7 for the quick flip, no thought at all of submitting. However.... Ok looks like we may have two shrill bidders on the Invincible Iron Man 7 That went for $142.50. One bidder bid up the price 3x. In addition, It looks like 52% of one bidder TOTAL bids on ebay is to this same seller. Plus, in the past 6 months the bidder has had 3 retractions. Another bidder has 100% of their TOTAL bids on ebay is to this same seller. False demand so actually it is 1 bidder. Speculation sites that don't notice this suck. You are welcome. Hey, nice catch, catch21. Actually, I was that bidder desperately trying to actually win the auction, which is extremely embarrassing now that I know those were shills ... it's nice to know I had the wool pulled over my eyes (and also nice to know that, well, I didn't end up actually winning). Tricky tricky ebay
  11. IIM 7 is a first appearance. The market doesn't care about the extent of the appearance with modern books. Content doesn't matter anymore. In the past a reader might value a later appearance of a character over a one panel teaser in a previous issue but that doesn't apply these days. A person with a genuine interest in the Riri Williams character might personally value issue 9 or 10 more than issue 7 because those issues flesh out the character a bit, but that person is in the buying minority. Those issues have no incentive variants. They have no reprints with lower print numbers. Thats because the modern flipper doesnt read comic books today. I agree with the IM7/IM9. To me issue 9 AoA variant has the biggest potential, the AoA was a 1:1 variant not a 1 :10, 1:25 etc... It dont hurt to get issues 7 to 10 for Riri fans. Issue 9 will organically grow where as issue 7 only is in demand because is a pump and dump book. Way too many new people learning the ropes in this hobby trying to find that next kamala/x23 book, that new hot #1 series. We got people buying and praising Lois N Clark 1 as being new superboys 1st app, then turn around the next week and say superboy 19 is the "real" 1st app, when this are clearly 2 diff people like someone once said "that speaks volumes" as to where people are today when it comes to comics. At the end of the day people can spend their cash however they please, and the new boys in the hobby should do some research and learn it that way, but is good for them to get a few dents along the way and follow that weekly flavor of the week, just dont fall asleep with those books on your hands. Anyways, enough of that. Pre heat pis for IIM 7/9 AoA I disgree since it is a 1:1 ratio. The regular issue has her on the cover drawn by the creator. The issue to have is the regular. Plus, if you look at ebay sales Before the last two people were buying the regular issue not the variant. They may have been 1:1 but nobody ordered them that way. I have built 2x sets and they are not easy to find in the wild, went right over the head of most LCS's. I see your point, and I agree that the AoA wasn't ordered that way, but a first appearance without the character on it isn't going to beat a first appearance with the character on it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the guy on AoA is Rhodey, because here's what Riri's armor looks like-- note the Optimus Prime-like antenna: (I'm happy to be wrong though because I have three copies of the AoA lying around )

Plus, if you look at ebay sales Before the last two days, people were buying the regular issue not the variant. Midtown sold out of those this morning as well. (The #9 regular cover.) There's still a couple of other books around, mostly on eBay. I gotta agree with Catch21, though. The regular issue is a Riri fan's jackpot: full body Riri in new armor, with "INTRODUCING..." caption, AND if you read comics (as any real speccer should), Riri's in the book in armor as well. Meanwhile, the AoA variant doesn't even have her on it. Isn't that Rhodey? (Riri has an Optimus Prime-style "antenna".) I emailed CGC this morning and I got this reply: "After reviewing the issues in question, Invincible Iron Man #7 will be labeled as Riri's first appearance in cameo on last page, and #9 will be labeled as her first full appearance." So it looks like both books will have a bit of value, though obviously #7 is the current hotness right now.
  13. There are too many symbiotes... I can't keep track of them all! (I'm embarrassed though. )
  14. Last page of VENOM SPACE KNIGHT #9. Yes, it's yet another symbiote. Yes, it's a cameo. But stranger things have happened. (That said, I'm still reeling from going heavy on Toxin. Yikes, talk about a bad spec.)
  15. what does 'squicky' mean? Is it a Chinese word? like PF Chang? This wasn't funny.
  16. It appears issue #7 is a last page cameo unless something was missed. Issue #9 features her in costume on the cover and both in and out of costume on a couple of pages inside of the book. She is mentioned by name in issue #9 also so this looks to be a more apt comparison to CM #17 than #7 for the cover appearance. Is she in any other pages other than this in issues #7 though #9 ? Yeah but nobody will care about 9 You're probably right. It just occurred to me that this would be opposite of most modern hot books though some cameos have recently been getting attention. If a person were inclined to spend that kind of money on a cameo of a new character, what might this be worth ? 1st James Rhodes CGC 9.8 While not a modern, certainly relevant to the discussion don't you think ? Not really. You're link is to a Bronze age 9.8. Books that were released well before "tombing". Today people submit for their tombing the minute they have it in hand, never to be relegated to a long box for potential damage. I'm playing devil's advocate. The relevance was in the character styling if not characterization itself. The fact that one of these books is a tough find 9.8 while the other will be very easy to obtain. Mix that with the fact that at some point, people will read the books and go "oops!". People paying over half for a book with a spec character who may or may not be of long term significance, will probably end their purchase by regretting paying that much relative to the original character who appears in Marvel movies. The character probably is worth watching but even then, people should open up the book and see for themselves what they're buying. No, it's definitely a fair point. But I think with Bendis' recent interview (sorry, I can't find it right now, but he explicitly promoted Riri Williams as a "karmic balance" for War Machine's death) and with the rise of characters like Jane Foster!Thor, Kamala Khan Miles Morales and other diversity-minded characters, we're all on the lookout for the next teenage star. So it doesn't strike me as too silly a move to buy this book for $142.50 (well, I still think it's MOSTLY silly) when CM#17 2nd print ... well, we know about that book. I mean, I'm a Chinese man, so I feel how squicky this is already. But them's the breaks.
  17. I posted this on preheat, but since the raws are now listed at $15-20 (or $5-7 for the slowpokes), I think this is relevant. I tried bidding on this because I happen to like the cover, but it quickly got out of control. No, I didn't end up winning. People seem to have a lot of faith in Riri Williams... hoping for the X-23 / Kamala Khan effect I'm sure. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322161781347
  18. If this is S/S Kirkman and Adlard along with O'Malley and Hung, I'm totally on board!! If not... I guess I'll take it anyway How much would it be to get Marjorie Liu and Nick Dragotta on there too, since their names are on the covers?
  19. Okay, I bit my tongue and continued to bid on the variant, and it ultimately ended at 2.5x the last sale on GPA ($45). No, I didn't win. Is there something going on with Riri Williams I don't know about (like an ongoing?? say it ain't so!) , or is this just someone who really likes this cover? http://www.ebay.com/itm/322161781347
  20. If you're talking about the standard cover, from GPA: $250 90-day average, $280 if Fiona Staples, $316 if BKV, $470 if double S/S. RRP is a whole other story of course.
