Nice books Andy. Google UK is equally unhelpful on the matter of Mr Crouch's history (I'm sure that search results differ by country) - just passing one line references here and there. I've often been referred to as a Crouch myself funnily enough (get your 'c' word jokes in now) due to the surname resemblance. I'm guessing Phil is long gone, was probably paid a pittance for his work, but loved what he did. We'll never know, eh.

I thought it was because you're really tall. :nyah:

@AJD Nice looking copies. Have you got the #1? :wishluck:

The oar propelled balloon made me laugh, they surely didn't do that....did they? On a related, similarly implausible note I watched The Aeronauts this week. Not a bad film, quite gripping (literally) in places but with a fundamental disregard for the amount of oxygen needed to keep a person alive.

The book has come back much better - 0.5 bump I think.  Split is the same.  Back way way cleaner.  Corner bend bottom right through entire book completely gone.  Stacking curl gone.  Pressing shouldn't damage a book unless it was in a bad state anyway.

    How did Giles not impress..?

Didn't remove the NCB corner bend that I specifically asked him to remove. Basically spent £20 on a trip for my book to Wigan and back. Hope it saw the pier!

Well, the split looks a bit longer in the new photo, I'm not saying it is longer after the press, but it looks it, so I'm revising my initial estimate to a 6.5.

I hope I'm wrong, but does that split look a little larger now to you..?  hm

    I thought that as well.

I didn't really think it needed cleaning & pressing, I hope you haven't damaged it further.

I've used Giles before, being in the UK he's the only 'professional presser' we've got, and whilst he didn't damage the book I wasn't overly impressed with the job he did either.

Yeah - that map was done years ago, so now I'm down to about 2.5 long boxes of just Marvels.

I could probably just PM you with a private sale, as no one seems to have interest when I post them in mixed.

Most of the books have been posted before, but I do have about 50-60 new ones, that are of the more collectible bent.

I will see what I can do, as I just got done with a massive time-consuming crunch in my non-comic life, and have settled back into my inventory project.  I've also got to get some info to TOT on some DCs he wanted.

I remember your last SA/BA sale here, it was glorious...well for me anyway. (thumbsu

Me too. Huge the Who collection was. If only we had a time machine and could go back Harry...

    Hey, hang on...

I've been slowly rebuilding the collection sans the toys. Do you remember the 'Gareth Thomas' Tom Baker figure? xD, I had that as well. But it would be nice to have kept something original, you know. I'm really quite envious of Unca Ben's book and all the memories it must contain.

In addition to labeling the boxes, you will find many titles filling partial boxes, or mixed in with other stuff.  I have been missing my main Conan 1-18 for the past 10 years because I don't know what box I put them in to fill it up.

So for me, I do label the boxes, but keep a separate, and highly recommended "BOXLORE" reminder of what short titles may be filling up boxes.

Additionally, and highly recommended, is mapping your collection.  In the example "West Right Wall", the short boxes are two boxes deep on the shelving, so I can't see the labels behind.  I have to use the map all the time to locate boxes, even those in front, as they are not in alpha order.  Note the boxes are listed in clusters of two in each column.

I am currently in the process of inventorying and bagging the last 15 -17 years of modern comics, so I feel your pain.

That's a lot of Marvel sale boxes you got there, Mike. Any chance they'll be seen on the boards?

  8. The Tiger has a serpentine look about him in the first panel of the story. That aside, the majority of the jungle action is very good indeed.

The Crimson Comet looks vaguely disinterested on the cover. Was he saving golden girls in distress from gas-mask wearing thugs all the time?
