  1. Let's see 'em I don't even list them on ebay anymore since gijoed bought my quad cover defenders 51 4 years ago. They go straight to the source. You know, some of us do outbid gijoed now and then.... Any of you guys can feel free to PM with what titles you collect or if your interested in the 3 I have right now. I'll keep an eye out for you. I've just gotten into the habit of sending them to gijoed. Its a super long story, and I don't know all the details.....but he sold a bunch of his books at one time. Well they ended up making it down south, and I've been basically helping him buy back books he already owned at one time. And at the same time selling him the ones I find in collections....
  2. You find one in about every 200/250 comics! (worship) If so I have got to be the unluckest person alive as I have been collecting comics for like 33 years and I have owned well over 20,000 comics and I have only ever found 3 Double Covers in all those comics and I have looked in every one of them. I have found some MJ inserts as well. So you have found some more Double Covers? what have you found any Spidey's I hope ? (thumbs u I would guess you are probably right about books after the 1990 being less likely to have Double Covers seems like I see allot less of them than the older ones. Need some help looking through those 300 boxes? I guess I should clarify that its 200/250 unbagged books (95% bronze) that are worth grading for me to sell. (ie a chance at $5) That's not counting bagged books, that I will only check if the weight feels "wrong". I did a preliminary sort and made 40 or so boxes out of the 300. So I guess this numbers only apply to unsorted bronze age stuff. I don't have the time to check every book. All of my books go to the same person. (see post above about what I have now) I have 2 spideys but I'm keeping them for my spidey collection. I don't really find that many after 1990, but that could be that most books are already bagged and boarded and they never get checked. Terry-- you always welcome to come down to atlanta to and shop the storage area. Tons of good stuff. But I am down to my last 50 or so boxes to sort. I'll warn you ahead of time though that these books are originally from Atlanta so there won't be any variants (at least I haven't found 1 in the first 250+)
  3. Let's see 'em I don't even list them on ebay anymore since gijoed bought my quad cover defenders 51 4 years ago. They go straight to the source. The books I found over the last few weeks are Champions 13, Freedom Fighters 11 and Mars Patrol 7. The later being supernice on the inside. But the other two are vgish outside and probably f/vf or a little better inside
  4. Has anyone done any research on how many of these seem to exist? I'm in the process of sorting/grading/pricing 300 boxes and I seem to find one about every 200/250 books I actually grade (not $1 junk) or unless I suspect a double cover by "feeling extra weight" . Wish I had time to unbag all the junk and check. I find alot of MJ inserts that way too, but you would be surprised how one can tell something is up with the book just by being a little heavy. I'm guessing books after 1990 are actually rarer as a double cover as the printing process tightened up? Or is that an incorrect assumption?
  5. your guess is as good as mine. wow at least use the same font for the "35" as the variant And only other double cover variant I had was a 35 center Inhumans (I think) Regardless cosmic won it off ebay about 3-4 years ago.
  6. Kudos to Blutobc for a great JIM 59 for the ole pre-hero collection.
  7. These auctions are ending in a few short hours ... looks like people are starting to care about condition now? Nice return on Ms. Marvel and Conan though I wasn't going to complain . I keep meaning to dig up those MC issues- I'll check and see if I have any this weekend. Thanks I'll send over a PM shortly.

  9. Not that great considering it came from the same place that 230+ other 35 centers were found. But it was buried in an Archie box and turned backwards. I got quite a shock when I flipped it around. I did make a color copy sign of the cover for my $2 boxes. But only cosmic and 1 other fellow variant collector have even noticed it at shows
  10. Has any more copies of Kid Colt 218 (35 center) surfaced? Or was the one I found 3 years ago holding strong?
  11. Every oversized (glued) comic I've seen that have had a double cover (only about 5) have all been loose. I too would be worried if both covers were attached on a book like this
  12. I won one of these on Ebay and sent it back for a refund. It was never mentioned in the auction that the outer cover was not attached. It looked legit but I did not have enough proof. Someone could have easily just taken the cover off one book and placed it around another. The seller appeared legit and everything but it wasn't enough for me. I have no idea how CGC could verify this. If it is not glued on, then how could it be attached? Not sure about that one. They probably check for the same cut and other characteristics that should be indicative of a squarebound double cover. At the very least, I assume they would check to see if there was any evidence of glue on the first cover. It seems intuitive that it would be next to impossible to take a cover off an existing book without the presence of glue detected. At any rate, I was really happy to to confirm with CGC that both covers are indeed attached. Not sure about this book, but for the DC 100 pagers, the outer cover should not be attached. It makes more sense to me that it shouldn't be attached for any of the glued on covers. I would think it would be tough to fake too. How would you get another cover off a book with the exact same cut, staple indentions, etc. Heck how would you get a glued cover off period without damaging it I guess it would depend on the production process... Was the glue applied directly to the cover and then cover to book ? or Was the glue applied directly to the book and then cover to book? Anyone know?
  13. This should answer your questions... NDS/MJ Insert Comics Jim It sure does. Thanks. If you want I can confirm my remaining 3-5 Mennen ads. I know I have one of the western's you don't have an * on. Just let me know.
  14. For what its worth.... I purchased a small 150-200 book collection from an individual who grew up on a base in Germany in the 70s. About 80-85% of the books contained MJ inserts. Only normal sized comics, even though larger books did contain the same "star stamp" A smaller % (maybe only 10 books) had the double cover type ad with 2 different variations. I also won a lot off ebay awhile back in which a high percentage of books had MJ insert. I emailed the seller and he did indeed purchase these while in Germany as well. This collection included some early books like amazing spidey 97 (which I still have) and 101. There were no double cover ads in this smaller batch. The question I have would be where the double cover ads came from. Are they specific to certain books or yet another slice of the print run received them?
  15. Thank-You. I'll keep an eye out for other legion appearances.
  16. Glad you like them Let me know if I can help you find anything else.
  17. Enjoyed working with you Remind me after New Year's if you want the rest of them.
  18. Right back at ya!!!! Now if I could only find the time to scan the other 25,000 books I could probably make a little money
  19. Should have read everything before posting. Just got back from Chicago. I will NEVER make that drive again. Thanks to greggy for another smooth transaction from Canada. Now if I could only sell these HOT books to someone in the states I've got UK and Canada down.
