Definitely, and I always state that I'm referring to the Marvel Bronze Age when I use Conan #1 as an example. I also feel that the Bronze Age emphasis of each company was far different during that era, and that Marvel made the more concerted effort to "try something new" while DC more evolved their existing characters, while also dabbling in a bit of the new stuff.

During this whole debate, I must have read 50-60% of the marvels from 1970-72 and I find it laughable that Conan #1 is not part of any serious "Start of the Bronze Age" discussion. I started out on another angle (Marvel Try-Out's - Spotlight, Feature, Premiere) but the more I read and the more information I gathered, Conan #1 stood out like a sore thumb. Once you realize that many of the popular characters that came after (like Wolvie, Punisher, Deathlok, etc.) are basically "Conan with Claws" or "Conan with a Gun", the link becomes even more clear.

Sure arnoldt, there will always be differing opinions, but I think what most people are saying it to keep the choice within the accepted boundaries of time and space. No science fiction "visitors from the future", no mysterious time machines, no worm holes, etc. Translation: 1975's Giant-Size X-Men 1, while an important book, could never have started the Bronze Age simply due to its late publication date. Unless of course, you only want Ms. Marvel, Nova, Devil Dinosaur and ROM as your top Bronze Age books/characters.

Just pick any important book from 1970-72 or so and you've got my vote. ie. Not the johnny-come-lately Giant-Size Xmen.

Well there was Fusion, the twin midgets from ASM, along with the Man-Killer (?), one of Korvac's tiny cronies, from GS Defenders when they took part in another of the Grandmaster's games (and he later appeared in a Thor Annual). Puck's the only 100% human, non-mutated, non-alien one I can think of though.

Squadron Sinister: Avengers 70 Squadron Supreme (alternates): Avengers 85 And yes, due to the Wizard listing of Avengers 85, I think avengers 70 is a supremely undervalued book.

Join the CGC love fest I've tried Darth, but there is just something inherently wrong (and dangerous) going on here. I just can't do it, and it's very similar to those slasher flicks where you just know if that babe walks into the dark kitchen for a snack, she's gonna get iced.

Just because I think paying 20X-40X pre-CGC prices just for a number and a plastic slab is patently insane, doesn't mean I have a negative outlook on other things. In fact, I think it's just the opposite.

Darth, the reason I don't swamp EBay with my extra is simply because it's too much work for not enough return. I could take some after-hours consulting and make far more per hour than selling funny books. Plus, it's nice to see those boxes stack up to the ceiling, and all you Byrne X-Men investors better hope I never do release the hoardes. :>

No joke, and you have to be careful on what you bid on these days. It's a really freaky market right now, and no price is seemingly too low for some books. I'm still thinking about that Werewolfby Night 32 CGC 8.5 I just won.... A Cream-Paged 8.5 went for $65 a week or so ago, and noting that the auction had a reserve and it's OW, I tossed up a $54 bid just to test the waters. Bingo, I'm bidding against myself (no other participants...) and I hit the Reserve of $53. I pay my bills, and it is a very nice price for a CGC VF+ Bronze Key, but in some ways it's $53 less I have to spend on the 9.2-9.4 copy I'll eventually end up buying.

You're missing the obvious one Darth.... I'm not saying you should, but it's still pretty lame to toss your arms up in the air and just state that you mass-submitting Moderns for CGC 9.8-10.0 copies, then selling them off, is a process as inevitable as breathing.

As for speculators and investors, some may know what they are doing, some may not, but it is still a free country to do as they choose and see fit, barring any illegalities. If you are as patient as you say you are, then bear these folks no ill will and wait until the crash arrives and snap up all the books you want to collect. That's a good motto is you're talking about JP and his insane spending habits. That guy has deep pockets and almost deserves to get fleeced to being so ostentatious. My problem (as I stated before) is that while I know a crash is coming and I know I'll be able to snap up CGC books for minute percentages of what they're selling for now, but I still feel bad for the bozos who swallowed the "CGC Investment" angle hook, line and sinker, and are primed for a serious loss. What goes around comes around, I always say, which is one reason I try and walk the straight and narrow.

Even though you might be one of the lamers who hammered my rating at the start, I gave you a 5 since you whined so effectively.

My only question in this is: Did Metropolis divulge ALL forms of restoration to Mr. Cage? For example, there is a statement that Cage knew the Cap #1 was tear-sealed, but what about the color touch? That's a huge difference to me personally, as I hate color touch and think it's the lowest form of resto. I'm not saying they didn't, but I'm hoping to get clarification.

Well, for his latest two pieces of tripe, Lucas was missing a main protagonist, a villain, a story, a -script, a director, capable actors, the list goes on and on. At least Ang only has one strike against him.

..............maybe with ang lee ditecting they'll be some martial arts action.......... Ang Lee is about as far away from martial arts as they get. It happened to be in Crouching Tiger because the material required it. I think this is the same guy who directed Sense and Sensibility and The Ice Storm, and I can't recall any kung fu hijinks in either of those. From what I'm gleaning, this looks to be a more psychological film than an action one. From my initial impressions, it looks like: A Beautiful Hulk Mind... with Lotsa Tanks!

From what I've read there doesn't seem to be a villain. Looks more like an origin story like the original Superman movie. Bad move in this day and age, as kids don't have the patience for that , and it's a risky move in a feature film.

Speculating on the possible storyline - Bruce Jones recent run on Hulk v2 #34 and up... And about zillion other "return of the beast" storylines in Hulk. It's amazing that some think this is something new or innovative. He's always gaining/losing his intelligence, becoming more/less violent, etc. though this time he's... drum rolll A Hobo! Wow, give that Jones a raise!!

We all know how the X-Men movie jacked the price of Hulk 181 and Iron Fist, 14, how Spider-man made ASM 121 and 122 into household words, and that Daredevil hype is driving DD 131 and 168 into the stratosphere. So what's the key story element of the upcoming Hulk movie that translates into a specific issue? Is there a key villain or character that will take off?

That's what I tol' you boyz, this is the time to blow off the high-grade extras for some cash.

Now if you can just get me a 9.9 Hulk 181 for 20 bucks I'll be a happy camper! Patience grasshopper, patience. Plus, I'm a bit hesitant to point you to any high-grade comic that has a Marvel Value Stamp in it. Heck, maybe you cut them out just to get sympathy.

I have a list of vavorite sellers on e-bay. These are people that will work with me to resolve any problem that comes up in a transaction. There are many of these sellers on e-bay. Maybe you should use them insted of "rolling the dice"? Just a thought. Once again, I do quite well on my EBay purchases thank you very much (Yo, Scottish, I could use some verification here! ), but I am also starting to realize that due to the growing capital on EBay, it is actually more economically viable (in some cases) to just buy a portion of your comics at shows rather than EBay. I have always "bought where they ain't" (which is why I'm buying Bronze Defenders now for fire-sale prices) and I was able to find some amazing deals at the last show I went to this summer. I even passed on books that I should have bought in hindsight.
