  2. Minor Edge/Corner wear, numerous stress lines with color break... 6.5 FINE+ (FN+): Back to Top Fits the criteria for Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount. 6.0 FINE (FN): Back to Top An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose.
  3. Welcome To The Boards!!! This should have been posted in... https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ However, since we are here, that crease is at least 1" long and it breaks color so you would probably take a big hit on the grade. I do not have my books graded so I do not know how big of a hit CGC would give that crease on an otherwise high grade book. According to the Grading Standards... 9.2 NEAR MINT- (NM-) - A 1/16-1/8" bend is permitted with no color break 9.0 VERY FINE/NEAR MINT (VF/NM) - An 1/8" bend is allowed if color is not broken 8.0 VERY FINE (VF) - An unnoticeable 1/4" crease is acceptable if color is not broken. 7.0 FINE/VERY FINE (FN/VF) - Minor cover wear beginning to show, possibly including minor creases.
  4. Welcome To The Boards!!! Exactly what was stated above. Here is another example of a book that is faded from the sun, was it on display in/by a window in a comic shop?
  5. Welcome To The Boards!!! I would suggest you take clear pics of the book(s) showing the defects and open a thread in the... https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ Here are the grading standards, you can see that very small imperfections in higher grade books make a big difference, especially if they break color. https://comics.ha.com/tutorial/comics-grading.s?show=comicdefinitions
  6. 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): Back to Top The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable. Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies. Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1" spine split. Staples may be discolored. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple.
  7. Just to throw it out there, hopefully it is allowed... There are numerous Facebook groups related to comics, some of which are sales only, some are sales and discussion groups and some are discussion only, no sales allowed. I have sold books on Facebook without issue, you need to post pics, post an asking price, shipping cost, payments accepted, etc. I only accept PayPal Goods and Services and ship everything Priority Mail which would be $8.00 for a Priority Mail envelope or $15.00 for a Medium Flat Rate Box, includes Tracking and $50.00 insurance which you may want to increase depending on the book. The other key is that when you ship you have to be sure that the books and packaging are secure so the books will not be damaged during shipping, we can get to that if/when the time comes. Here is some other info for you that may help... https://comics.ha.com/tutorial/comics-grading.s?show=comicdefinitions http://www.teako170.com/terms1.html http://www.teako170.com/terms2.html http://www.teako170.com/terms3.html http://www.teako170.com/terms4.html
  8. Pre-Code/Pre Hero JIM (1 - 33, I have 11 issues between 1- 33) and ST(1 - 42, I have 14 issues between 1 - 42) are the only runs I have not completed. I stopped trying over 12 years ago, the prices then were getting out of hand. I have no problem with "Well Loved" books (PR 0.5, FR 1.0, FR/GD 1.5) but even copies in that condition were selling for $100.00 + and as I have gotten older I can no longer see spending that kind of money for a comic book. So, basically, if the prices continue to rise it will benefit my kids when they sell my books after I am gone.
  9. Welcome To The Boards!!! The book does appear to be better than a VG 4.0, possibly a VG/FN 5.0 since the stress lines are all I see, however, with only one pic... If you are new to comic collecting and want to learn about grading I would suggest you invest in this or the 2016 edition. https://www.gemstonepub.com/en/the-overstreet-guide-to-grading-comics-6th-edition Also, you can work on your grading skills by grading some of your own books and then posting pics of them in the... https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ and see if your assigned grade is the same or close to what the group thinks, you can also view the books others have posted and see if your grade matches what others think, if yours does not agree, ask how they determined their assigned grade. Remember, with higher grade books, very minor defects lower the grade whereas lower grade books may have multiple defects that do not lower the grade. If you are on the fence about the grade always go lower, it is better to undergrade than overgrade. You can also use this... https://comics.ha.com/tutorial/comics-grading.s?show=comicdefinitions
  10. The books looks nice overall... 4.5 VERY GOOD+ (VG): Back to Top Fits the criteria for Very Good but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount. 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): Back to Top The average used comic book. 11. The book presents well and I do not see any major issues such as spine splits, pieces missing, etc. With the creasing and indentation I would give this book a VG+ 4.5. 4.5 VERY GOOD+ (VG): Back to Top Fits the criteria for Very Good but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount. 4.0 VERY GOOD (VG): Back to Top The average used comic book. 12. I do not have my books graded so I cannot tell you what the total cost of having books graded actually is, having said that... None of the books listed are a high demand/high dollar book (other than 28 if the cover is really nice). To help others help you can you tell us... What are your plans for the books, why do you want them graded?
  13. I also use CIS and have had my collection insured through them for 12-13 years.
  14. Most folks that grew up with Harvey seem to still Love them, the newer generation never heard of any of these characters.
  15. The only Harvey books I collect are Sad Sack Titles (and Harvey Hits featuring Sad Sack), most are Gold, here are a few Silver Age Books.
  16. IMO, this book is better than a VG 4.0, it could be a VG/FN 5.0 (hard to tell with only two pics), when undecided I always drop a grade so... VG+ 4.5 5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): Back to Top An above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. 17. They are $11.50 + shipping/handling for 50 Current Fullbacks on the E.Gerber site. https://www.egerber.com/catalog_fullbacks.htm
  18. That is a very nice copy. Most of the wear I see is on the edges and corners, there does not appear to be any issues with the spine or staples. Not having the book in front of me for closer inspection I am hesitant to grade to high so... FN/VF 7.0 - VF - 7.5, could this book get a VF 8.0...? As far as cleaning, that is not something I am familiar with so I cannot answer.
  19. Welcome To The Boards!!! To get estimated grades post the books in the "https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/" section, one book per post. Remove the books from their bag/holder and post numerous/clear pics of the front cover (spine, edges, corners, staples), rear cover, inside covers, splash page and centerfold. As far as your signature, unless the signing is witnessed by CGC and the book is given to the CGC rep at that time CGC cannot and will not verify the signature as authentic, it will be viewed as a defect and the book will receive a "Green Label" designation (graded as if the signature was not present) stating that there is a signature on the cover.
  20. 2.0 GOOD (GD): Back to TopShows substantial wear; often considered a "reading copy." Cover shows significant wear and may even be detached. Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases completely absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present. The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is likely. May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Moderate interior tears may be present.
  21. 1.5 FAIR/GOOD (FR/GD): Back to TopShows substantial to heavy wear. Books in this grade are commonly creased, scuffed, abraded, soiled, and possibly unattractive, but still generally readable. Cover shows considerable wear and may be detached. Almost no cover reflectivity remaining. Book-length creases, tears and folds may be present. Rounded corners are increasingly common. Soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing is generally present. Up to 1/10 of the back cover may be missing. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are increasingly common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is common. May have a spine split between 2" and 2/3 the length of the book. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Staple tears and stress lines are common, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown and may show brittleness around the edges. Acidic odor may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Interior tears are common.
  22. With only the two pics provided and grading as if the markings were not present (CGC Green Label), IMO this book is a FN 6.0 - FN/VF 7.0. Again, how much of a deduction for the markings, VG 4.0 - VG/FN 5.0?
