There is a reason why Mattina came to NYCC and Gabs who was rumored earlier in the year of making the trip stayed home. They freakin HATE each other.......you won't see them anywhere in the same zip code..etc I do think Scott's is still repping Gabs but as you stated they are going full Mattina right now and that is probably going to affect business moving forward.

I was pleasantly surprised as they were very nice people manning their booths. I've also ordered online with them and it took me opening up a dispute with my CC before they shipped out my stuff. It's a shame cause they have top notch stuff but their online customer service department is a disaster. I was lucky to get their early enough on Thursday to pull books I wasn't expecting to be there tossed around in various boxes. Even better, I got some sweet deals $$$ for multiple books. I got the owners number just in case I want to deal with him directly in the future....again very nice people and they did recognize their shortcomings with their online system. Let's hope for better experiences moving forward.

Where you the one next to me searching in those boxes? It wasn't an ideal setup and books where just thrown in boxes without bags and boards. Lucky to pull whatever I could but I wouldn't submit without a press that's for sure.

Sometimes they are sought because some of them are virgin covers which isolates and highlights the art without the usual trade dressing. As a fan of Dell Otto I would always choose virgin but of course that doesn't necessarily equate to more valuable. Also If you are a fan of signature series then there is obviously more negative space for a nice sig or remark.

ONE CGC 9.8 GRADED

I had a ASM 678 that had 3 distinct color break spine ticks on the cover and it came back a 9.6. As Kev mentioned, moderns do well and with that lenient grader you have the makings of at least a 9.4 and a outside chance of 9.6.

I think a press can potentially bump this up to a 9.4 based on those notes. I remember 9.4 sold privately last year during NYCC for about 4400 pounds which comes out to about $6k thru Scott's Collectibles. If I had this book, I would probably go for Dell'Otto signature along with a press. I would never try that with a 9.8 but with this grade it would probably be the only one in the census with his signature. The other I remember was Stan Lee and somebody else. I know some are not fans of CGC SS but that's just me.

Loved it when I saw a sneak preview of this more than a week ago...finally get to see new art instead of using his older works. Now let's see if they how many versions of this will pop up...

I'll myself collect some of the older Gab books especially the euro panini stuff that is not easily attainable. I myself have set a challenge of getting a high grade of one of my favorite characters, this Phoenix euro. I have one already which would probably max out a 7.5 but I do have people on the lookout for a higher grade.

Don't forget the 1:25, 1:200 1:4999 editions that are happening or in the works. If it was disclosed all up front I wouldn't have an issue but my original red wonder woman, which I had very high hopes for, will unfortunately remain just another raw copy.

Bro I'm losing track on these Gab variants. Such a beautiful cover to be somewhat diminished by multiple printings. This is not only bulletproof but everyone else is doing it. Impossible on my end to determine what version to buy, get signed and also hold collector value.

They did use a sketch version of that book back in 2007. I also have two copies of the Panini version that both have that scratch in back upper left...tough to get a decent grade on those.

I was thinking 7-11 also...how odd. It sort of reminds of the days when you can get a haircut and also pay your beeper/mobile bills. I know..sort of dated myself with that comment.

Seems like the only people getting the books are the dealers on Ebay. So much confusion with them.

Doesn't sound like him from my experience. To be fair, he just wrapped up a con at DC so he is probably a bit behind on his admin stuff. You should PM Polirer (Fred) here as he also does consulting work for them from time to time.

I just started my refund on their 797 books. Absolutely no return emails including FB messages. I can't believe what a mess these guys are.
