  1. Production covers were very common in many of the Marvel reprint books of the 1970s (Marvel Tales, Marvel's Greatest Comics, Marvel Triple Action, Marvel Adventures, etc) which often reproduced the Silver Age cover (many times with edits and enhancements to the art). What they did was created a photostat of the original art cover and affixed it to a new cover which may or may not have had changes or edits made to it. I own a couple of these - Marvel's Greatest Comics 42 and 47, which are the reprints of Fantastic Four 55 and 64. Both MGC covers are 99% stat (some house artist extended some of the image in about 1/8 inch of the border I guess to fill the cover out because they had to reduce the stat to Bronze Age smaller art stock vs the twice up of the 1960s). The MGC42/FF55 cover is pretty much the same image, whereas you can see in the MGC 47/FF 64 cover that they made a lot of art changes to the Sentry Sinister's back and torch is now shooting a fire blast instead of a fireball in MGC 47. I do not know the story as to why a stat was used for the Hulk 121 cover, though. Maybe they liked an interior image better than the original cover Trimpe provided and decided to go with that? Steve
  2. Auctions end tonight. Thanks for all who've looked and/or bid!
  3. In this month's current ComicConnect auction ending next week, are the complete issue color guides to the following stories. I hope you will check them out. Silver Age color guides are rare as single pages, much less a complete story from the Jim Steranko Nick Fury portion of the comic (12 pages). Of course, X-Men 141 and 142 are two of the most iconic storylines in the Marvel era. The guides themselves (22 pages each issue) are absolutely stunning!! 7. PRICE DROPS MADE - See New Listed Prices - THANKS!
  8. That's all for now - thanks for looking!
  9. Sea Devils 2 G 2.0 A solid “beat but complete”. PRICE: $15 NOW ONLY $8 $5.00
  10. Green Lantern 15 G 2.0 Another book that looks nicer but each page of the comic has a tear in the margin that runs between 1 to 1.5 inches. Otherwise solid and complete, with just general wear. PRICE: $15 NOW ONLY $10 $6.00
  11. Tales of Suspense 35 Watcher Prototype VG+ 4.5 This book looks nicer than the grade due to a small piece out of the back cover bottom left corner (see pic). Otherwise a nice solid book with general overall wear and light creasing but no major defects. The best book of the bunch! Pre-hero Marvels are so much fun and this one does not disappoint! Would YOU have accepted the challenge of ZARKORR????? PRICE: $70 NOW ONLY $50 $42.00
  12. Adventure Comics 300 “Tales of the Legion of Super-Heroes” Begin Fair/Good 1.5 but looks VG (missing a coupon that does not affect story) Nice low grade minor key issue. Overall general wear, including cover detached at one staple, some tearing and small piece missing on bottom right corner of cover, small piece out of bottom corner of 1st page (but is still with the book), and coupon missing from stamp ad (does not affect story) – see pics. Looks nicer than the grade, for sure. Great opportunity to get a book with decent eye appeal for a fraction of the cost. PRICE: $ 35 NOW ONLY $20 $12.00
  13. Fantastic Four 8 G+ 2.5 Heavy overall general wear but no horror show or deal breakers (ie no tape, writing, etc). Biggest noticeable flaws are upper right corner tearing around price circle, ½ inch spine split at bottom, detached centerfold (in fact, I would have graded this a G/VG 3.0 if not for the detached cf). Light water staining on upper back cover. Otherwise a very solid and complete book, featuring the first appearance of Alicia Masters and the Puppet-master. Classic Lee/Kirby storyline and a super fun read! PRICE: $140 Now Only $100 $75
