  1. A little bit of online reading (reliable?) suggests that plot lines in the strips were different than those in the books ... for example, one source I read indicated Sup marries Lois Lane in the strips ... what I think is way cool is that the 135 is 4 years removed from Action 1, and Siegel and Shuster's names are there ...
  2. These pics are from the other side of the Sup 46 ... Tracy, and likely the paper from which they came ... as well as a pic from the 72 ... date provenance?
  3. Yes ... seems to be ... I think that origin strip comes from 1942 ... I have 18 in total, dating back to 1940 ...
  4. Odd ... wouldn't allow me to type the word in without spaces in between the letters ... the powers that be have Gulagged that word?
  5. Trying to type in the word D E M O C R A T!!!
  6. What city had as its paper "The "? Cool pin
  7. Superman Strips Can anyone provide some background to the Superman Comic strips of the early 1940's? I have come across a few ...
  8. I think in the 9.2-9.4-ish range ... didn't notice anything major (but then again, I only made it to the round of 64 in the grading tournament, and that was after a bye!!!) ... nice book ... my copy looks similar in condition ...
  9. Oakman ... apologies ... probably my lack of knowledge re. size of pics as we transitioned to the new boards ... will work on fixing ... all the best in the tournament ...
  10. Has a shot at an 8.0 ... pressing candidate?
  11. If only grades were based on front covers ... that back cover brings it in the 3.0-3.5 range ...
  12. Iif the tear is not there ... 6.5 ... otherwise, I'd agree with the 6.0 ...
  13. Some spine action happening to the right of Joe's head? Beautiful book ... 7.0ish ...
  14. Picked up a collection last Sunday; these were some of the books found ... Was there ever any resolution on whether the $5.99 price was a Canadian variant of the New Mutants graphic novel #4?
  15. Thanks for the link J&J ... I did read through this thread from a few years back ... it is interesting how the type of ink Stan used changes every now and then ... says to me the signings did not happen all at once ... the condition is likely somewhere between a 7.5-8.0 ... wondering if a press and clean may move the grade a little higher up the scale ...
  16. Picked this book up from a recent collection, and while I've seen it many times, I've never seen one with Stan's signature, coupled with an edition # (811/2000) ... any thoughts?
  17. Thanks for the ops ... book shows really nice ... some of the ticks toward the lower half of the spine seem more like streaks ... I would be more than happy with a 6.5 ...
