I was told I should be out of CCS by end of june. I'm holding them to it, I was received begining of Feb.

I'm a little concerned with CCS turnaround times after the price change. I know I sent in 1bout 120 books to be pressed at the lower rate earlier this month. That being said, although the TAT's will likely go up, hopefully it won't impact books already in the que.

  2. Since my 12/21 MST press submission is at 102 business days, I assume that CCS does not take the wait time between delivered and received into consideration when determining TAT's. Either that or the books have been pressed (I was charged 3 weeks ago) and ae sitting in limbo between pressing and grading.

I'm no rocket surgeon but maybe they should hire a few more folks to deal with the increased volume.

Especially if it's just opening the boxes and recording the items inside. Some additional temp workers for a 6 month period should suffice. This is not like training someone to grade books.

CGC is almost certainly at fault for not catching the box and then they refuse to fix the situation because they don't have the resources to find a box. This is crazy town, right? You shouldn't be running a business like this.

That's why I mentioned previously that they should've waited on increasing their prices until they were caught up with the TAT's. Now they're completely overwhelmed.

I honestly feel that CGC's approach is to increase the turnaround times so much, that if in a few months when they go back to what they were pre price change, people will actually be relieved.

It reminds me of a story I read as a kid where the town judge tells a couple complaining about the size of their home, to move all the farm animals in with them. At the end when they've reached their breaking point, he tells them to take out all the animals. Afterwards, the couple is content and feel like their small home is spacious.

I am pretty naïve to how the whole pressing thing works, but do they really revert back to pre pressing condition in such a short time? Because that sounds horrible.

As I noted above, if pressed by professionals, the books will stay in the post pressed condition. This is one of the reasons why I don't buy my own presser. I don't trust myself to do a good thorough job.

I always wondered about pressed books as well. If I have a comic pressed but not graded for another 3 to 5 months, do I not run the risk of the book reverting back?

It depends on who presses the books. If done correctly by professionals then it will not revert back. Even for quick press I imagine the process taking a few minutes, but the books left in the presser for an hour or 2 to take shape.

  8. I get the sense that a lot of sellers will be extremely unhappy come this fall / winter when the seller's market eventually slows down, and all the books they sent in to be pressed/graded just sit in their inventory. This is not CGC's problem, but if you're quadrupling the amount of books you send in to take advantage of the hot market, it's really deflating when you don't get the books back from CGC until later this year.

Wow. 71 working days for Standard Fast Track? Do these numbers include books already in the pipeline? That's a crossing-the-Grand-Canyon kind of jump.

My gut tells me they're bracing customers for a 2 month wait before books are officially received. The books already in the pipeline will likely get graded sooner.

I can just see CGC's tag line a few months from now. "We promised to bring down our TAT's with the price adjustment and additional staff, and we've managed to accomplish that. The current TAT's for MST grading are only 65 business days compared to 110 in late May. Our new system is working. Therefore, we've decided to expand our in-house signings to 18 per week."

  10. I do think that something has to change with the grading and pressing TAT's within the next 2 months. If they continue to go up, even after CGC raised their prices and hired additional staff, then they have to scale down on the signature series line to catch up. Also, by catching up I don't mean the TAT's doubling over the next 2 weeks and then going back to what they are now. Ultimately, they need to get down to 25-30 business days for MST grading and 60-65 for pressing. Also, receiving the books needs to go down to 5-7 business days again.

Anything close to or over a year should be grounds for theft.

Sometimes it's good to forget about the submissions for a bit, which makes the time go by faster. I completely understand it's easier said than done. For instance, I have the one submission (from 12/21) that I'm really looking forward to getting back, and find myself checking its status 5 times a day. However, I feel like time is moving a lot quicker on my other 10 submissions since I don't think about them much. I can't believe 5 of them were received over a month ago, which doesn't feel like its been that long.

I want to say pressing was 85 days when I sent my books out. Obviously that's changed but I wanted to know if I still fell in that time frame.

It would be somewhere in between, depending on when your books enter the pressing room. For instance, for books just received by CCS, the turnaround time is likely close to 142 days. For books that were charged recently, I would say the turnaround time is closer to 105/110 days. My books are currently sitting at 97 business days.

Maybe they're catching up?? Or just wishful thinking

I almost wish they would've postponed their decision to raise prices until they caught up a bit with the turnaround times. Now I feel like their inventory got a lot bigger with everyone submitting their books before the price change. Hopefully they'll catch up at some point, but for the people that sent their books to be pressed earlier this year, it'll be an extra long wait.

I have a CGC shipping box with a UPS ready to ship since 4/16/21. No movement and told they are really delayed. Been charged for that already.

I have some that were received back on 11/19 (for signing) 11/23 (regular graded and I think one pressed). Also have 12/30 (Eastman signing and a regular graded).

No movement on those either. I'm wanting to send in about 10 more but I am not looking to get these back next year.

I am hopeful they are working on this delay, but could really use a weekly update as to how CGC is catching up.

My gut tells me it'll get worse over the next few months before we see CGC catching up. I can imagine everyone and their grandmother shipping books before the June 28th deadline to take advantage of the discounts. I think MST will likely hit 75 business days before the TAT's start coming down again, while 200 business days for modern pressing is likely not out of the question.

Been received since Feb, still waiting for pressing charges. I call them a few times and the lady while very nice basically said whenever the charge drops. I'm just hoping it's soon because that's three months just for pressing before the turnarounds really jumped. I am still holding on here.

Definitely. The recent increase in TAT's won't help matters either. As an example, my 11/16 submission was charged on 3/23, with the books received by CGC on 4/8 and shipped 4/16. If the same holds true for your books, then you're likely looking at a June or July for when your credit card gets charged. The good news is that it appears that CGC expedites the grading part for books with long CCS waits.

Thanks dude, My order received on february2nd hasn't been received by cgc yet, Hopefully i hear something soon. Thanks again .

Sorry, I meant if they're to be pressed, then they should show up as received under your submissions. This means that CCS received them, but CGC entered them into the system. I would definitely call if they're not even shown as being received.

Did anyone's February order go to pressing ??  Modern tier .

Sorry, not sure what you mean by go to pressing. Books to be pressed will generally be received by CGC about a month after delivery, and they go directly to CCS. The next time you'll hear anything is when they charge your credit card, typically a few weeks before they're graded. For instance, for my 12/21 received submission my credit card was charged on 4/20.

  18. With the recent news of upcoming price changes, the TAT's will likely get worse in the short term before going down to something reasonable. I can easily see modern pressing go up to 130-140 business days as more people send in their books to take advantage of the $8 quick press fee (vs. $15). Hopefully, in 3 or 4 months, those TAT's will go down to 70-80 days (at least I hope). Not sure how MSL grading will be impacted short term. The price changes are not that egregious to show a vast change in TAT's. Hopefully the new staff CGC is hiring and training will bring down some of those TAT's.

  19. Just mailed out 162 additional books for modern slow track grading and quick press on Monday to beat the looming price change deadline. Looks like this will be it for a while for me, since most of the books I send in for pressing typically sell in the $65 to $70 range.
