  1. I sent a large batch of books to CFP for pressing back in September (they are currently pressing books received in early June). I have a feeling these books will be pressed and received by CGC before my books received by CCS back on 4/11 (currently sitting at 194 business days). Since CCS hasn't even charged my credit card for these books yet, I have zero faith they'll be pressed anytime near their current 197 day TAT. I'm bracing myself for a 50 business day jump in their TAT's any day now.

I have not heard back from them as of yet.

My concern is that since they eliminated quick press, they may decide not to honor the $8 quick press charge for books delivered prior to late June. They may just decide to provide the $3 discount from $15 to $12 for regular press.

This pressing order delivered the same week as your's on 4/15 went to GEI on 12/22.  I do not remember the delivery date.  Invoiced on 12/3.

Also...I was charged the new pricing for this press even though it was subbed before the July price increase, something to watch out for.

Thank you for the info. Did you call them and get the pricing corrected?

The TAT for non-FT Economy subs was estimated to be 140 days on 11-21-21, shortly after CGC announced (with great fanfare) that they had eliminated the backlog of comic submission parcels waiting to be opened.  Yay, right?  Not so fast, Sparky!  (tsk)  That same TAT is now estimated to be 152 days:whatthe::whatthe::whatthe:

That's right, the TAT has increased by 12 working days in the past 12 working days.  lol

I think a lot of us were hopeful that CGC opening packages upon arrival would expedite the turnaround times. However, even though the 2 plus month wait time between delivered and received has been reduced to less than a week, the TAT's have actually gone up.:tonofbricks:

    Just got this email notification:

The saying "Hurry up and wait" sure comes to mind.  Honestly, they should make the form take 100 times longer to complete so that submissions are slowed down, not accelerated.

I honestly haven't had issues with their current submission forms. (shrug) It's like trying to fix a garden hose leak while the dam is about to break.

When were you charged for it?

    Also when was it delivered?

I have one delivered yesterday that hadn't checked in, I want to see If I finally get a fast treatment that has been rumored in the past month and evidently happened to you.

Although it's a 20 book modern slow sub

I was hoping 1 of my 2 recent subs received on 12/6 would hit the lottery and get the expedited treatment, but alas, they both went to SFG. :sorry:

I had 5 marked received at CGC on 4/7... 1 already made it back to CGC and has been sitting at GEI, but the other 4 have been sitting at CCS in process since sept/oct... and now they are gone...

Yeah, unfortunately, they reached the 8 month mark and can't be viewed on the CGC website anymore. It doesn't mean there's any movement.

My CCS pressing order marked received 4/15 went into "Process" last week...finally got the bill for it and surprise surprise...$15 each.  These were subbed before the July price increase...should be $12 each.

That's ridiculous. Has this happened to others as well? If so, then this is false advertising. So basically CCS announced the price change to give people time to send in their books, but ultimately winds up charging the full amount anyway?! That makes no sense. For example, I sent in 4 submissions via quick press back in March (well before the price change). Then 5 more in April when the price change was announced. This is 225 books. I better not get a bill for $15 each because I would've never used CCS if I knew I was getting charged the current pressing amount. That's over a $1,500 difference. I really hope this was just human error. I would call to fix it.

I've thought of doing this myself, just don't have the time.

For me it's also about maintaining the enjoyment of factor of collecting / selling. I love going to the comic shop and sifting through books and then going through them in detail when I get back home. This is all fun and relaxing for me. I get the feeling pressing my own books will give me zero enjoyment.

There's enough info out there to learn to do it yourself, just takes the right equipment and a little practice/patience.

Not if you're clumsy like me. :) I can't tell you how many times I've had tape stick to the front cover of a book (as I pull it out from the mylar), or have stacks of raw books slide off a table when I'm not looking.

Find a local presser if I plan to submit books, lesson learned.  Everything I submitted has already gone from hot to cold.

100%. After the price change I submitted a large stack of books to a 3rd party presser. Too bad I still have 9 separate submissions sitting in CCS's que, that were mailed back in March and April.

    Shipped 04/15/21
    Received/checked in by CGC 5/28/21
    Charged by CCS 09/08/21

CCS in process ever since to this day

The one positive about CCS is that I haven't seen any non fast track submissions skip the line yet. On the negative side, I'm super worried that CCS hasn't even gotten to the late April/ early May submittals (after the price change) and they're still currently sitting at a 196 business day turnaround time. Can you imagine the log jam when they start tackling these submissions in a month or 2, especially considering they were only charging $8 per book for quick press vs. $15 for new submissions. I wouldn't be surprised if CCS takes the same route as CGC and start expediting pressing for new submissions because of the higher charge fee.

How does this work with the different tiers and fast track?

My comment was only referencing the slow modern tier. In the past, some submissions would jump the line by 1 or 2 weeks, which is completely understandable. However, CGC needs to provide some sort of explanation why they've moved on to grading books received in August, while a bunch of ones received 2 months earlier are still sitting in limbo.

just got a reply from support saying it will "probably be at least a few more weeks"

I just wish that CGC would come forward and say that since they received tens of thousands of submissions back in April/May their sequencing for grading books based on day received has been an issue. It would also be good customer service to provide a 10-20% discount for books received back in June, especially if they've already moved on to grading books received in August.

Still haven't gotten back submission that went straight to CGC, no CCS, and was received 6/1 (made mistake of going economy for that one; simultaneous standard submission was returned back in June). Also haven't gotten a reply to my last inquiry about it. Shouldn't have to relinquish possession of collectibles for 7 months just for grading.

My gut tells me that even the isle shown in the gif is not available for CGC personnel to walk through.

I sent in around 100 Modern books to CCS in March and April of 2021, and they all still say 'Received at CCS'.  With  current turnaround times at CCS and CGC, when should I expect my books?  August or September of 2022?  Also, my CGC membership ran out in October of 2021.  Am I going to have any issues with billing since my membership ran out almost a year before I receive the books (more than 6 months after I sent them)?  I have a few hundred silver age books I'd like to send in, but with the membership length being only a year and it taking almost 2 years between sending books in and getting them back, I really don't want to make things confusing and super costly.  Are there any better, cheaper options I should be considering?

I was going to ask the same question. I submitted books to CCS back in March 2021 when I renewed my membership. If CGC doesn't get around to grading these books by March 2022, will they still honor the 10% discount included with the submission form, or will they charge the full price (if I don't renew my membership)?

My submission, received in March 2021, went dark because it's been in the system for more than 8 months. When I enter the order number, I get the message

details will be available when the submission is at the "Scheduled for Grading" status.

So I'm facing a black hole for months until they deem my books are ready for grading.
