 Did you find these in Halifax? The Batman 59 looks like a "Wanita" book from a collection that Strange Adventures had several years ago.  I wouldn't mess around with the staples.

Best for last: The Vault of Horror # 19. Nicest looking FECA book I have ever held in my hands. Tania and I could barely hold in our excitement when we first saw this one. 

The Vault of Horror # 16. Some spine nicks on this one, but again white pages.

Now for the real gems. The Vault of Horror # 15 from Superior. This one is high grade with white pages. Looks like it just came off the racks. Register is not too bad, but there is a definite mis-cut.

Western Adventure Thrillers # 22 from Bell Features. Guessing that the cover is a re-used splash page. This book includes all John Wayne stories.

Western Riders # 15 from Bell Features:

Two Gun Kid # 5 from Bell Features. Sadly, the centre wrap is missing 

The final book that has heretofore not been catalogued: Broadway Romances # 4 from Bell Features. The GCD only has issue # 1 of this series noted, so it is likely that Bell Features published at least issues 2 and 3 as well.

A Date With Judy # 17 from Simcoe. Also not in the GCD:

Just getting back from vacation in New Brunswick, where Tania and I stumbled upon a small collection of 9 Canadian FECA books. Three of the books are not in the GCD (I will add these to the GCD later today, so please refrain from doing so before I get a chance) and we were very happy to pick up three high grade calibre issues of The Vault of Horror (filling my desire for Canadian books and her desire for PCH). These weren't cheap, but were well worth it.

First up: Teen-Age Parade # 5 from Bell Features. The cover is a re-used splash page. It contains several Candy stories. This book is complete, but has a detached centre wrap and several pieces missing from pages.

Great write-up, Stephen. I remember there being some debate about the significance of Victory when it came up for sale on CLINK. One thing that seems to be overlooked is that WECA affected much more than just comic books and actually targeted the pulp industry to a greater extent. The result was also the same. An excellent book on the subject was published in 2004: True Crime, True North: The Golden Age of Canadian Pulp Magazines by Carolyn Strange and Tina Loo. From what I understand, Dr. Strange spent a great amount of time studying Canadian pulps at the LAC. She is based in Australia now, but if anyone can shed additional light on Victory (and whether or not there are other pulps that may be significant for comic collectors) I think she would be the person to ask.

Indeed, the mylites hide the water damage well. It's unfortunate that these have the damage you mention. They're still interesting and underappreciated books. Cool find.

I've encountered other books that were done by Ganes that do not have his name on them. In all cases, the font, design and general look follow a similar pattern. Though, some of his comics are minis (such "Saves Lives," "Radiation and Man" and the Chex hockey books). It's almost a certainty that A Question of Survival and the Alberta book were by him. I'd love to see close ups of the covers of both of those books to confirm.

I love "The Swamper." I have a copy that I was planning to add pics of soon. It's got a very strange message about how the Canadian government wanted to engage in conservation in order to promote tourism amongst American duck hunters. Definitely worth a read: the message it is trying to convey is a real head scratcher,

I've never seen "Alberta Land of Freedom and Opportunity." Is it a Ganes book? Also, I've been aware of "A Question of Survival" for a while and suspect it's a Ganes book too, but haven't been able to confirm. It'd be great if you could put this one to rest for me.

I hate it when I hear people talking about back issues and then realize that aren't talking about comics!

This is the third copy I have seen, including the one that is currently on the GCD. I think yours in in the best condition of the three.

Great looking book. I wouldn't get too hung up on the census, though. Only a few of us actually get our FECA books graded.
