  1. That Barker's Komic Picture Souvenir cover is amazing? What is the interior like?
  2. That low grade copy of Suspense #8 went for $122.74 : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=70&item=6537423575&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  3. Wow! Nice book... Thrilling Crime Cases #49 is definitely in my Top 10 of Cole covers, along with Contact #12, Captain Flight #11, Mask #1 and #2, etc.
  4. As you know, these Continental books are very susceptible to brittle spines. I'm not sure why the damage is often focused on the spine area, even when the majority of the cover is still in very good condition. My personal copy of Suspense #8 looks great except for a brittle spine.
  5. Great Strange Tales cover! Got any more by Anderson? The skeleton is showing his support for breast cancer research by wearing the bracelets
  6. This isn't my book for sale on eBay, but I noticed it and think that someone may walk away with a steal. It's a Suspense Comics #8 in poor condition (tape on spine) with a minimum bid of $99, no reserve. Based on how tough this book is to find, this isn't a bad deal at all, and the cover image is in good shape. What do you guys think? I have a copy, but if I didn't, I'd consider pulling the trigger. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW
  7. Yeah, that's real "funny"... getting shot with an arrow.
  8. Thanks for the kind words. I'm such a big fan of these Farrell books and don't understand why more people enjoy them as much as I do. It will probably take me a while to complete this run because it is hard to find these books in mid-grade. I'll probably start going for the rest of the Farrell books in about VG. It would be foolish to put together beautiful runs of Voodoo and Fantastic Fears when a Voodoo Annual in anything higher than VG would be almost an impossible order. And the Fantastic Fears #5 goes for a mint... I don't feel like paying more than what the VG goes for.
  9. I have another addition to my Haunted Thrills run... this one is issue #7 in about F+ condition. I'm really happy with this one since I love this cover. This is the highest condition copy that I've seen in the past year. I'm still looking for these issues in 5.0 - 6.0 condition: 3, 4, 11, 13-18
  10. Wow... I never saw that cover before, but am very familiar with the Misfits cover. Great stuff... I would never have noticed it in Gerber.
  11. The COC #7 cover is great.... I never noticed that one before.... another reason why it's a big help to see scans instead of only seeing the books in Gerber.
  12. There's no bigger fan of that cover than I am (and I was salivating over Jon's Cole recreation of it), but I have to admit that a lot of Cole's "poster color" covers (Mask 1 and 2, Contact 12, Capt. Flight 11, etc.) need to be seen in person to get a full appreciation. Bright, flat copies look truly amazing.... and the colors are a big part of it. Cole used a lot of flat color without shading (a good example is Contact 12), and some people may consider them to be somewhat plain. However, I think that the simplicity is what makes it so eye-catching. When I pulled that Mask 1 out of the box, I imagined what it would look like on a newsstand. Put that up against other run-of-the-mill Fawcetts and DCs of the time period (1945) and tell me which one gets your attention! I'm a real cover hound (as evident by my pre-code horror collecting habits and love of Jim Steranko's 60's Marvel covers) and this cover is possibly my all-time favorite. Even if I had to sell off big chunks of my (small) collection, I don't think I would ever part with this one.
  13. I showed a friend my copy of Mask Comics #1 the other day and was surprised at how bright the colors were.... I was so used to seeing my lame digital photo (pre-scanner) in the initial post in this thread. I thought I'd post a scan here to give you a real representation of the bright colors on the cover...
  14. Scrooge, unfortunately I don't have a 112 yet... I have a Blue Bolt 111, 114 and 115. Keith, good question... I am far from having a comprehensive collection of Star books... but if I get a chance, I'll check out some of what I have.
  15. I agree about most of the Star interiors which are usually reprints. That particular issue, Blue Bolt Weird Tales #114 has a terrific interior story by Jay Disbrow. Any of the Star books with his interior work is worth getting.
  16. Wow.... two great Fight covers.... Where does a GGA collector begin with these Fiction House books? There are SO MANY good covers. I've never seen the Fight 31 cover before.... gruesome!
  17. Nice book! That's one of my favorite Cole aviation-themed covers. I'm still jealous of your Captain Flight #11.
  18. Could Robin use a leg wax or is that just shading?
  19. The cover to #28 is great.... it's too bad that they didn't leave word balloons off of all their covers.
  20. Good point... I have enjoyed seeing scans here on the Boards because the Gerber shots are so small. And it's easy to overlook books because of some stellar covers in the same run. Nothing beats going to a show and seeing books up close.
  21. Here's my newest LB Cole cover.... Spook (Detective Cases) #22 with a terrific headless horseman cover. I bought this particular issue for a song and am really thrilled with it. Very solid and glossy copy... at least a VG+, possibly a Fine-., which is not bad for a Star book. The pages are especially nice, and anyone who collects Star books knows that Off-White pages are tough to find for some reason.
  22. Thanks for the info. I had heard that he moved to Australia. Based on the comments on that thread, maybe I shouldn't be looking to do business with him. He recently purchased a book that I may be interested in, but it's not worth that much trouble, to be honest.
  23. I've looked on the net and in the newest OS guide, but can't find contact info for Bruce Ellsworth. Can anyone help? Thanks...
