  1. Does this book resonate with anyone here? I recently bought a copy of Voodoo Annual #1 (Farrell) which is a Gerber 7. Due to some mistakes by my local USPS office, this book nearly became a Gerber 8. I thought it was completely lost, but tried one last time to get someone with a brain at the post office to find it. Anyway, this is probably the rarest Farrell horror book, a 100 pager filled with over a dozen stories. This particular copy is about a VG-. It's complete with all the pages attached. Pages are good but has a bit of spine damage. They are often found with detached pages because of the square binding. Here's the cover and a bunch of splash pages from the stories...
  2. Keith, the Star material with Disbrow interior art is pretty good. The reprint material is pretty lame, but Disbrow interiors are a selling point for me.
  3. Great Pat Boyette cover on the Blackhawk!
  4. That's Startling Terror Tales #11 which has two versions: a black background or a blue background behind the logo. The black one is a little bit rarer.
  5. Wow! Holy cr@p.... that's a great Suspense Comics #8. I don't need to tell you how hard that book is to find in nice shape. The covers are usually brittle, detached, or missing pieces.
  6. Wow... terrific MMM books! The condition of the books you've been posting is absolutely lights out!
  7. If I didn't already purchase a VG copy, I would have bid more. WM #5 often has restoration, so I was a bit wary. If it was being auctioned by a reputable dealer, I would have bid much higher. I'm no expert in detecting restoration. I feared spending something like $800 on the book and finding out later if the book was CGCed that it had color touch. I figured the guaranteed resto-free VG copy that I have is better.
  8. POV, I absolutely love that cover... That's one of my favorites by Farrell and one that I want to add to my collection soon. Yours looks like a real high quality copy!
  9. Ever wonder what "man stabbed in face" meant in Overstreet? Here's the panel from Voodoo #3...
  10. POV, my favorite Farrell covers are the ones without word balloons or text. This Voodoo #3 cover is a great example. Bold title (Farrell used really cool fonts) with a striking illustration and no text. None is necessary! But I still do like the Farrell covers with word balloons... whoever came up with them had a macabre sense of humor.
  11. The next three are the splash pages for three of the stories inside Voodoo #3...
  12. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Here's my copy of Voodoo #3 published by Farrell in 1952. The artwork is vintage Farrell... I really love the work that the Iger studio did on the early issues of Voodoo and Haunted Thrills. This particular copy is probably a VG- with creasing on the cover, and is possibly going to be upgraded at some point. Here's the cover...
  13. Cool! I never noticed "The Story Starts" with the finger pointing to the inside of the book.
  14. Guide 11 is definitely worth having. The article on Cole is excellent and the cover is a classic.
  15. High grade Star for me is anything over 5.0. I only have a few books above that level.
