Depends on the day of the week its graded and what kind of mood the grader is in.
Absolutely. I could definitely see it as a 9.4 if the grader decided the larger spine tick is a little too big or the corners are not as sharp as they'd like, or...

Love that cover! Really nice copy, too. 9.6 or 9.8?
Thanks. Actually it's a 9.4
Really! I really thought it was a 9.6. Very nice book.
Two creases
Yes, and? Even 9.8's can have two minor flaws, such as spine ticks I'd say the spine ticks plus the tiny bend on the right edge make it a 9.6.

HOS #103 is a very cool cover! Congrats.
Here's another Wrightson cover.

Let's kick off the weekend with more Wrightson. Just picked this up off of eBay (from a fellow boardie, it turns out). Nothing super high grade, just a solid book:
Interestingly, it was manufactured without staples.
Cover:
Centerfold:
Pretty sweet, in my opinion!

I thought Marvel's ROM was one of the best books they published at the time. I wish I could say the same about IDW's monstrosity.
Good to know - on both accounts. I started to read #1 (original series) and it began well, but I got distracted and didn't get back to it.

Here's my copy. Found this one raw at Wondercon. Definitely looking for an upgrade. Kinda wish I had seen that 9.6 in July. According to cgc census there is only 1 single 9.8, 1 single 9.6 and only 1 9.4 as well.
Lovely! +1 on wishing I had seen the 9.6... of course, had we both seen it then it might have gotten ugly

Not really a comics room per se, but my wife suggested we hang this in the formal living room!
#81/150, signed at Houston Comicpalooza this year. Bernie Wrightson is such a nice guy. I'm considering going to see him in San Antonio this October, since the CGC SS plans fell through at Comicpalooza.

$325, which is pretty healthy (but I've seen worse). Actually this was late July. Pretty much the first week I was observing the landscape again. I won't touch a copy unless it's a solid 9.8. Yours looks a like a 9.0/9.2 looking at the cover easy.
The registry seems to be down right now, but I don't think that there are many slabbed 9.8's out there. If that's your goal, I wish you luck (truly)!
I think with a squish mine could be a 9.0 (upper left corner is a bit crunched but mostly NCB bends that don't show up in the scan). Probably more of an 8.5, though.

The interiors sometimes are a let down. There was a 9.6 CGC copy that sold a couple of weeks ago....[i passed on bidding].
Sadly, Bernie only did the cover on this one. The werewolf story still has pretty good art, though (Villamonte). Cruz has one well-drawn story and one that I don't care for at all. Neither hold a candle to Wrightson, though.
What did that 9.6 sell for, if you know?

Amazing books, BronzeParadise! HoM #204
Picked up this from the 'Bay during the last week. Maybe from a fellow boardie? Either way, a nice book for the price point, and I'm really happy with it because this cover is
linky to hi-res: link

Hey All! Hoping to join the club-
About to send it in. Any guesses on a grade?
Very nice copy, Watatat!

There's something wrong with one of the colonels being a chicken.
I would think the colonel would be a chickens worst enemy
It's like Bizarro Superman. On his planet, it's KFH - Kentucky Fried Human.

Hand painted hardcopy paintmaster with paint swatches, hand painted protomolded figure, undated first shot plastic master with plastic swatch, undated first shot with darker colored torso
Sweet! I love seeing vintage Star Wars prototypes. Power of the Force era, to boot

We just started it last night, too - loving it! And the D&D references, even going so far as to mention Demogorgon...

Okay, the game is called Comfort of Strangers. http://comeoutandplay.org/2008_comfortofstrangers.php I don't know if it still is ongoing or if it's been replaced by something else. But it seems it could easily be adapted to a Assassins vs Templars type of game.
Thanks!

I created an account just to respond to this. I also would love an AC-based AR game, but I can't see it ever actually happening. Jane McGonigal in her book Reality is Broken does discuss a phone game that is close to a non-violent AC game, but the name of the game eludes me at the moment (and of course, my copy of the book is in my office on campus). When I come up with the game's name, I'll post it here. I know it's not Ingress.
Glad I piqued your interest! Please do post the name of the game when you come across it. I'd love to read up on it.

Nice write-up!
I theoretically want an Assassin's Creed augmented reality game, or something based on the "Assassin" game that is/was played on college campuses. Unfortunately, that's probably not a great idea even if it sounds like the coolest thing ever. With the current social climate, the last thing we need is a bunch of people running around all sneaky-like and pretending to assassinate virtual targets (or even cooler/scarier, other players).

Nice cast announced.
So, just in case you missed it, go buy:
Journey Into Mystery 102
Journey Into Mystery 103
Avengers 69
Defenders 4.
Have at it!
As awesome as the Defenders 4 cover is, Avengers 83 is the first appearance of the character of the Valkyrie (as an archetype/mantle... they are all somebody other than Brunnhilde herself until Defenders 109 in 1983) and it appears to be the one shooting up in value.

#6 shipping this week

The biggest issue here is that they got a white person to play an asian person, as if there are no qualified asian actors/actresses that they could have hired. I love Tilda Swinton, just not in "yellowface."

I bought this in 1994 from an ad in the back of CBG. Don't remember who I got it from, but I remember sending a check for $225 and crossing my fingers until it showed up in the mail about 10 days later.
Excellent! Nice top-to-bottom cut, with blue showing under the bottom table
-
Yeah, your setup looked clean and approachable! Nice job

Some nice books there! I'm excited to see what you get, too
