  1. That's a really great looking Stan sig... they don't really look like that anymore
  2. Is anyone facilitating Great American Comic Con Las Vegas? Thinking of going, but not going to if no one is going to be there as a witness
  3. This covers from you to the presser. But what if the presser packs the books poorly ? What if the presser hand delivers the books to CGC ? The presser is handling the books so much more than the graders = much higher probability of that's way the finger bends occurred. I cannot speak for others, but once I am done with the books they go directly back into the bag and board. Once in the bag and board they go into sturdy plastic file boxes where they stay until I can drive the books down to the graders. At the graders they are received, and then put into different boxes. They are then verified (identifying all the books are there). The pages are counted. The inside of the covers are inspected for defects and stains. The outside covers are examined for defects and stains. The staples are checked for rust. The book is checked for resto. Then they are placed back into the bag and board and await encapsulation. Granted, any impact on the grade would happen before the graders get to them, but we would be fooling ourselves if we think nothing can ever happen to a book once it is in the hands of a grader or the encapsulation person. Transparent much Bob? This is why I chose Joey to press my Hulk 181 and Werewolf 32. Can't wait to see how they turn out
  4. I've never heard anything good about Mile High Comics, just take one look at their website and you'll think you've been transported back in time to the dial up days, looking at sites built by angelfire, on netscape navigator. That alone was enough to tell me this is not a place I want to buy comics from. I use MyComicShop.com to pick up back issues. If the book is even remotely valuable, they are overpriced, but if you're just filling in a few issues here and there, they are great
  5. I buy a ton of comics and don't want to keep them all. I keep the stuff I really like and sell the rest as 40 comic lots. I'm not trying to make a ton of money, I'm trying to get rid of bulk and get as much as I can for it. Shipping 40 books media mail is about $6, priority can be as much as $25 which is more than what a 40 comic junk lot usually goes for. Without media mail, I'd probably just be leaving stacks of comics on the free table at work
  6. quick thank you to MedicAR for maintaining this thread through the years. Super helpful
  7. I've used Anastasia's Collectibles several times and had great all around service each time. I've met Derek at his booth at Frank and Son several times. Always seemed like a really good guy to me. Stan sigs earlier this year were $100 for the sig +$15 facilitator fee. I submitted through my own account and the books are graded at CGC now. Books were turned into CGC the day they were signed, it was great. I definitely recommend submitting through your own CGC account. I had similar issues with the Todd McFarlane signing but I went through NYComics who I think were working together with AC to facilitate. Yes, the prices were outlandish, I had to submit through their account, and OVER 6 MONTHS LATER, I still haven't got the books back. I've contacted CGC several times and they were always very helpful with providing information. You'd think for $50 you'd at least get fast track grading. I'm sure you'll get your books, but I totally understand your stress. I personally use Rich Henn quite a bit and have always appreciated his work. Doug from comic sketch art seems really solid and reliable too. I personally like AC and since they are local and I can drop my books off in person, I'd definitely use them again
  8. You'd think he'd have picked the X in the X-men on that one. Hard to read. I've seen and own worse than this. What I learned is don't have Stan sign books you care about or ones that are worth lots of money. I recently had him sign a couple silver age spider-man books, but not keys. If the sig turns out nice, Win, if it doesn't, oh well
  9. Did you slap The Man in the head, or were his goons around? It was done under a very reputable comic store during their watch. I had nothing to do with it. bet I could guess which one
  10. I 100% blame the facilitator. I was new to SS at the time. I wish I'd known better because I would have asked for my money back. I paid him a lot of money to handle my book and get it signed. That he cut one window for four sigs is inexcuseble. I rarely get books signed anymore cause it soured me to the whole experience, but when I do I go to Scott on the boards now. He does quality work. Which facilitator? And who's Scott? I typically use Rich Henn for everything now and he is the bees knees. Treats your books like they were his own, top notch communication, and overall great guy. Highly recommended
  11. Agree, just got a couple that I'm disappointed in. I was told that he can't really see anymore, rushes through the signings and even the facilitator's signatures were bad. Poor Stan, I hope he's doing all these signings because he really wants to and not just to make other people money.
  12. Cool, I got 10 books signed by Stan Lee already at CGC... My timing is awful
