  1. Bit a rather big bullet for my first purchase from Steve "Evil Ash." Starting one of these as per recommendation from past sellers. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9468507#Post9468507
  2. Sorry if this has been discussed but I'm super confused by the JSC online store exclusives? So those are not available to retailers, just at cons or through the website? And they all have that logo on them? http://jscottcampbell.com/collections/marvel/products/extraordinary-uncanny-x-men-1-j-scott-campbell-store-exclusive-cover But then also, what's the deal with the variants JSC and otherwise that bear the Stan Lee logo on them, is this the same deal? http://www.stanleestuff.com/products/x-men-92-1-j-scott-campbell-colored-sketch-variant-set
  3. It's a cool little book, especially when it came out I remember having a copy (that wouldn't be worth the price of grading if I even knew where it was in the storage.)
  4. Most sources point towards it being the Flash Thompson version, as its stand alone and they aren't going to do the Symbiote going from Peter to Venom origin. Who knows though, I doubt the public even knows there's more than 1 venom. Well, I'll just wander down to the shop and get the 1st Flash Thompson then..... Actually.... I've had my eye on these for a while but then the Agent Venom character sort of fizzled out for me once he went to space but there's a sort of Hulk 180/181 situation with ASM 654 (noted as 1st time Flash becomes Venom) but its a brief part of the book. Its also got this amazing 2nd Print, which I've never seen without tics or close to a 9.8. One sold on the GPA for $190 way before any movie news. Then there's 654.1 which has a full Venom/Flash story. Or maybe this book I've always loved for the cover/design catches fire, or one of the Venom #1 Pink Cover 4th Prints. Venom Flashpoint #1 (Collects 654, Venom 1, 654.1)

  6. After two failed franchies, Sony is NOT going after the core "Spider-Man" audience, which one executive claimed "doesn't exist" after Amazing 2. This is going to be a really drastic reboot I feel, and for fans of the comic 90's comics Venom, I don't think we're going to see that. Trust me, I'd love nothing more than a horror based Eddie Brock Venom movie, but I doubt they are brave enoguh to do that. Plus the screen writers hired, are almost purely known for comedy (funny anecdote, one of them is the little boy from Freaks and Geeks all grown up.)
  7. Unfortunately I think Feige and co. are explicitely NOT going to be involved in Venom, Sinister 6 or The Black Cat movie (they still have Felicia Hardy on contract for that, and that's a pre-Rogue One contract.) Its rumored this was a major sticking point for Sony, that yes Spidey can go play with the MCU, but they want their own franchises and based off of Spidey. The Venom stand alone thin doesn't bother me, its setting up for a team up movie IMO, and it leaves the door open for a franchise, which means we likely see Carnage show up. At one point Josh Trank was going to do this, bullet dodged there. Although a Chronicle style Venom, mixed with the Martian/Moon style solo Flash Thompson stuff could be pretty great in terms of an origin story, there's a chance this is the reason Spider-Man is in Doctor Strange (which makes no real sense to me still.)
  8. The screenwriter they have is well known in the industry as a hugely underrated talent. He sold a 7 figure spec -script (pretty crazy, considering how few specs get made), which ultimately became Edge of Tomorow w/ Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. I've heard that he was the main guy WB had writing the Akira -script (this is before George Miller turned down their offer and pre-Chris Nolan trilogy rumors. The Akira property is very much in a "The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened" place right now. New Daredevil show runner is now doing a re-write, unknown wether how much of Harper's original he's using, whether its a complete new -script, a doctoring, or setting things up for a Trilogy, which apparently Nolan wants. From what I'm hearing this Spider-Man sub-universe is going darker than we've seen before, even with the Holland movies. They tried HARD to get Drew Goddard back on board but they couldn't come to an agreement (there's some carry over from DD/S6 negotiations.) They've gone with a Horror/Thriller leaning director Jon Watts (only 33). Everyone on their shortlist was non-A list and a bit comedic leaning, outside of Watts, really out of the box weird choices (like the guy behind Avenue Q, Director of Pitch Perfect, Sisters, and now the Archie movie.) Those early reports you heard about Feige stating this would be a High School based "John Hughes" type movie, are not necessarily shared by Sony, who care much more about building a franchise. Its the reason we're getting Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters Corps, the 21 Jumpstreet/Men In Black shared universe, and yes the Diablo Cody written Barbie tentpole. Also sadly guys AFAIK the deal with Marvel extends only to the crossovers with MCU and the first Spider-Man movie, none of the spinoffs have Marvel's touch on them, and I don't think Venom is say, going to show up in GoTG (as it sounds like they are going with the Flash Thompson version.) (I'm in the film industry tangentially speaking, working as a -script reader, as well as moonlighting with high quality web series collective (last 3 projects had a few million dollars of budget with sponsorship/investment + crowdfunding). I 'll share what I can when I can, pleae don't go digging trying to figure out where I work or any of the like. If you're really into the Film/TV industry, we can talk via PM of course."
  9. Wow A-Force is doing that poorly? Or are these smaller stores?
  10. HATED the latest version of Harry Osborne and their re-do of GG. TERRIBLE casting. Just bad. Liked Gwen though (I like that actress, she is weird looking, but beautiful, at the same time). P.P./Garfield is pretty annoying. can we get a series of you doing quick reviews of movies, that had me rolling.
  11. Who currently has the best JSC registry? I'd love to see that collection?
  12. @DMACt: Pre-Screens, or you just knew they were 9.8s?
  13. I was at a convention where Neal Adams was giving out a free signature on any book at all on the first day (1 time only per person), but not if you had a CGC witness with you. I had a really nice girl helping me, and maybe he doesn't like SS sales, but the way he treated her for doing her job made him fall a few pegs in my book.
  14. Hey, that was Rob's whole deal prior to the Deadpool movie too!
  15. solid advice If you're looking for something that's going to make you money in 20 years I wouldn't look at the three you listed. I don't see them going up long term TMNT #1 will always been a sought after book If I could find a 1st print Mirage TMNT in the wild for $900 of course I'd take it. I guess it was silly to set up strict rules. No worries, feel free to discuss the best use of the $900. I'm having another beer, or two, or all.
  16. Now that you mention it I think Deadpool's success, is going to be just the thing to give Sony the confidence to do a Venom horror tinged movie the right way. Built in Big-Bad with Carnage, who you could save for #2, and then you've got the potential of a Spidey-Venom Team up movie.
  17. Me too buddy, this is just a hypothetical situation, with set parameters.
  18. I don't understand the hype over the Deadpool movie, but I realize (box office) I may be in the minority.... either that, or people were just so starved for an R-rated comic movie that they went in droves regardless. One thing I'll give the movie, the -script writers were smart. They insulated the audience from Deadpool by keeping him off the screen for anything except action scenes. I don't think most audiences would like 90 minutes straight of him, so I'll be really curious to see how they handle the sequel. Anyway, that's a long winded way for me to say I think other properties can do the adult superhero movie thing better. I don't personally see the character continuing on the upward trajectory in popular culture, he just works best in a comic book in my opinion. Fan of the movie or not, its FUNDAMENTALLY changing the way that studio heads are looking at the future of super hero movies. Not sure its for the better or not, but we're already getting an R-Rated version of Dawn of Justice on DVD/Blu-Ray, and Gambit has just been pulled. Just let me get some Authority/Stormwatch/Planetary type action in R.
  19. IF you know anything about grading and you are buying already slabbed copies of these books -
  20. I know technically BA 12 came out in 1992, and many list 91 as the end of Copper, but let's just pretend. You have $900 (GPA for last two sales of first titles), and you see a 9.8 New Mutans 98 slab, an ASM 300 9.8 Slab, or a Batman Adventures 9.6 slab (9.8 is in the 1500+, and 9.6 you'd pocket some money, 50-75). Which do you buy, and why? I think time will tell, but obviously NM 98 and ASM 300 have been headed for a crash course as the possible key for the new kids, for quite some time.
  21. I'm new here so I haven't been through all 450 pages, so sorry if I'm missing your key points joey.
  22. So I'm guessing you want non-comic news then? Or are you just saying no talk about variants, just the potential plot? Or is it about the TV deal, because I'm sure the last thing he'd want to do is speak out of turn and have Fox/Regency all over him. They have 16 shows in production right now, look at the genre shows they have slated, which are doing poorly/well, you can make some educated guesses as to what may happen.
  23. Now that's an iconic Cap cover, I'm not a big Stan Sig guy, on that JSC cover, along with J.'s of course. Maybe even hunt down other infamous Cap creators, Steranko, Brubaker, Byrne, JM D, etc.
