  1. Don't forget Cloak & Dagger 18. I had look for a few months to find a nice NM copy when I was working on my Infinity Gauntlet + all tie-ins run.
  2. Made my first international sale today (not comics) It was a week of back and forth with the customer and then the sale. Let's hope it arrives safe in Australia More work than usual for $10-13 profit.
  3. With this specific issue, the newsstand UPC box stands out from the rest of the all black cover making the newsstand version unmistakable at first glance. It is the only one that I can tell just by looking at the thumbnail of the photo.
  4. Maybe consider Mushishi. I liked that one. It may sound creepy when you read the description but it is no more scary than Goosebumps. It's about a Mushi Master who travels medieval(?) Japan like an ancient healer would travel from village to village curing the sick, instead, he cures villages of Mushi infestations, which, in this world are just as common and natural as bacteria, fungus, or bugs. The Mushi are not necessarily bad, just a part of nature. It's intriguing and I can't remember any fighting.
  5. Black Butler is about a boy who sells his soul to a demon (who becomes his butler) to seek vengeance on his family's transgressors. I know the cartoon lightens it up a bit with slapstick. Just so you know.
  6. Welcome. Advise when collecting: 1. Collect what YOU like. 2. Don't get intimidated by old guys
  7. If you're going to Sunrise, just spend your money at the Sunrise Mills Mall and the BB&T center seeing the Panthers. Tate's is good and I usually buy from them at the cons. Past Present & Future has a lot but most everything can be found cheaper somewhere else. I usually go for free comic book day or to get new supplies. They'll have any new issues you want though. My opinion: There is no reason any tourist should be travelling up the US-441 corridor of Broward County (Lauderhill, North Lauderdale, Tamarac, etc.). Leave that up to the locals and stay away from the Swap Shop flea market unless you want to get in an unprovoked sword fight: Swap Shop Samurai Sword Attack
  8. Book Exchange has some good dudes to talk to and price out of Overstreet generally. Not a destination stop though and a haul from Fort Myers and Sunrise.
  9. Tis the season for Canadians in Florida. Sorry I live on the other side of Alligator Alley, the Atlantic coast. I only go to Ft. Myers a few times a year for work but don't shop so I can make it back home at a reasonable time. Searching the web, these look like they are in a decent part of town: Comics Cards and Stuff And just across the bridge in Cape Coral: Cool Comics and Games S, 311 Del Prado Blvd #10, Cape Coral, FL 33990 You should feel at home, lots of Canadians here this time of year and lots of Germans in Ft. Myers for the winter. Is there a rule that all of Quebec has to drive to Miami for the winter? If you are willing to drive 45 minutes or so, you can check out Naples, FL for shops or just to go spend the day. Downtown Naples is good for date night shopping and dinner/drinks.
  10. Well, if no one reads/follows my meanderings here, I'm cool with that. Besides, I pretty much expect it to be ignored Sidebar: I struggle with the fact my ASM #238 is 9.4 - I look at it and don't know why it is not a 9.6 - I have thought about upgrading but that .2 upgrade is $$$ out of my pocket for a different book...Sigh... Nice. ASM 238 is my only CGC red label. It's a 9.2 but I think I would keep it over a 9.4 because it is my only red label book. I had to upgrade to a slabbed copy. I thought I had a 9.2/4 raw but I bought it at a convention without opening it. When I looked at it when I got home there was a giant color breaking crease on the back cover where someone decided to fold the back cover as if to store it showing off the Tattooz insert that was included. Now I have two copies.
  11. Maybe the odd cover that I like but I can't see me chasing them. Yes, I'm on the same journey. It's a long road. For my run, I collect at least the original cover. If I like a variant, like the New Ways to Die variants, I will get that but I only count the first prints for my run. Copper and Modern Age is complete while Bronze is missing a few pieces. I saved Silver for last because it is the most expensive. I'm trying to put together a NM run of ASM. I've since tightened my grading standards, so I've got VF copies mixed in and will have to re-grade whenever I get around to putting the whole thing in mylars once and for all. How are you going about picking which issues to buy? Since I have so many to go (100 or so), I work on one, 50 issue run at a time and look for the best deal rather than target specific issues which could be overpriced at the time I'm buying.
  12. Hello, Long time reader, first time poster. I've been collecting since the 90s boom, almost exclusively Marvel (about 95%). My primary collection focus is on completing an Amazing Spider-Man run in Near Mint. I'd say my collection averages to 9.0 so its VF/NM for now. I also like to collect mini-series like Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet, Civil War, etc. I've got no problem with reading an occasional indie, manga, or funny book, I just don't collect them. I've learned a lot from the boards so far and I'm looking forward to picking up some more tips on the hobby.
