  1. The description doesn't say, does the art come with the COA ?? I think Jennifer is Dave's sister.
  2. All true. On the other hand, I don't think the DD chat is self-aware about bricks. There is no "brick police".
  3. I'm not going to characterize what Race wrote, especially since it's been pretty much removed and I don't expect him to chime in. I just think that when comics are attaining some kind of respectability in the US (e.g. not just for nerds), it would be helpful to keep things on the "it's real art" side. In any case, I watch DD if I'm not too tired. But if there's too much Marvel, 90's art or low interest artists, I usually drop off. From the artists mentioned in the last e-mail notification, I was interested in seeing the art by Tom Artis and Steve Mannion. I'm a fan of both and Steve is a buddy. The Judge Dredd cover by Tom Artis was on HA about a year ago. Who knows how many times it's changed hands by now ?? The Vampi by Steve was nice, he can do so much with a pencil. As I mentioned, I've never claimed anything on DD. But I've been tempted. Remember to hit the Like button.
  4. It looks like you posted that piece in your CAF. Did you confirm it as a commission ? I forgot to mention that you could consult Terry Maltos on CAF. I think he was a friend or art rep for Rio. Also, I think on some ComicArtLive show, Bill mentioned his mother was Greek.
  5. Also this thread (now untitled). Hey @Dr. Balls , I saw you chime in a couple times in the DD chat. I almost never chime in and never claimed anything on DD. But I have gotten art as a result of other ComicArtLive shows. The OP ("Race") left the forum and (as per the moderator) asked that all of his posts be removed. And the topic above has been scrubbed. There were a couple of other posts in that topic that seem to have been removed (including at least one of mine, not my request). I watched almost everything until last night's recap and that episode could've been referenced in that topic as well. But the gist is people that posted in that topic (including me, I guess) are now seen as a little puritanical (noone used that word at the time but maybe it fits). And so when things on DD get a little "racy" (pun intended), the DD chat references CGC. I think the topic would've died down on its own like they usually do. Aside from that, I did have a short e-mail exchange with Bill and I guess he has other reasons not to like the CGC boards. Any way, Bill generally ignores the CGC boards but I'm sure some people bring topics to his attention on occasion.
  6. Nice looking site. I don't have any interest in video games (or art). But I appreciate that you've added a section on the artist / illustrators linked with the art they created.
  7. Well, to have the recent DD be a Halloween theme, by definition, it's a niche episode. And maybe they were checking the couch cushions to gather art. Now the question is, would you ever expect to see the Barbi Twins cover and the Boris Karloff drawing in the same (non-Halloween) DD episode again? Maybe now that it's in the market, those piece will make the rounds. Mike Burkey had that Mike Nasser piece for sale at one time (not necessarily on DD). Then I saw it for sale by another dealer later. And now it's back with MB. I know that particular page because it's the one page I begged off when that story was broken up in a ComicConnect auction.
  8. Well, it was a drawing by Boris Karloff (self portrait). I could not tell if something on his chin was part of a costume.
  9. The Boris Karloff drawing was interesting. But I couldn't figure out what was going on with his chin. I think it was part of a costume.
  10. Well, we would comment on those ebay auctions with crappy art "signed Jack Kirby". Or especially drawn "in the style of Jack Kirby". Now you can get an AI to actually do it. You can't stop it. And it'll be really hard to stop people from buying the "product", which is really the motivation for stuff like this. Including those "deep fakes", although likenesses have been trademarked. Can't really claim copyright infringement by AI art unless the AI comes up with something so similar that the artist has a case. And I don't think I ever heard that Jack Kirby even took offense to people trying to draw like him
  11. Here is Wonder Woman 204 p 21 by Don Heck / Vince Colletta. This issue featured the first appearance of Nubia (known as the black Wonder Woman). For a larger pic, go to my CAF https://cafurl.com?i=28196
  12. I've gotten them if the item is on my watchlist.
  13. I think it really depends on when they've gotten new art and their sources. If their source collected a lot of sketches, that's what you'll see on DD in the next month. Also, depending on how far in advance they plan out DD, the dealers probably save up a lot of unpublished and/or lower priced art for those "$1000 or less" shows. I think the number of live viewers is significantly higher for those shows. In general, they seem to have a lot of restraint in not listing art for sale on their websites so they can show it on DD (where they could end up selling for less).
  14. Watched it for the first time in a few weeks. I'm not watching the recap.
  15. The last 2 DC movies I've seen are The Dark Knight and Watchmen. I was more impressed with Watchmen. I haven't watched any of the live action TV shows of the last 10+ years but I think the cartoons have worked better. I'll admit I'm still a big fan of Adventures of Superman (George Reeves) and Batman '66 (Adam West). In general, I haven't been a fan of how DC characters translated to the big screen. Not Superman The Movie (Christopher Reeve). Not Batman (Michael Keaton) but I did fall for the hype. I'm interested in seeing Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) one day. I like Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
  16. I remember when Scott Dunbier listed that Watchmen page for sale in the CBG. Maybe he actually sold the page before the ad saw print ? After seeing that page, I hemmed and hawed before deciding to call him. I recall he said something like he could've sold that page a dozen times.
  17. I think that the critiques boil down to that. People think he can still produce appealing art. But hasn't.
  18. Not much a of picture taker. All I have is the filling of the lanyard trough.
  19. Several art dealers provide appraisals as a service.
  20. The only thing I know about MTG is that it stands for "Magic The Gathering". And then I know nothing else. In the world of fantasy (or whatever), it's amazing that there can be so, so many images and this image has to be singled out. I'll bet that there were a lot more that were targeted that somehow made it through the gauntlet. When the artists create the art, what's the process? Are they told to come up with certain imagery ? Or do they just create "whatever" and then someone decides what kind of text / attributes go with the art ?
  21. FYI - the 11 x 17 prints that he sells on his web site are nice. I have a few of them myself. Some prints feature original verses written by favorite writers (e.g. Neil Gaiman), lettered by Todd Klein and signed by the author and Klein. If the print features new art, it's signed by the artist and Klein.
  22. From Batman / Green Arrow: The Poison Tomorrow (1992). Written by Denny O'Neil... Drawn by Michael Netzer (Nasser) / Joe Rubenstein... Lettered on the boards by Todd Klein. Batman ( in the Batmobile ) chased down a truck loaded with toxins. A lot of the comments in this topic are in regards to the storytelling even without the lettering being present. So I'm just presenting these pages (39, 40, 41, 50) even though the lettering isn't really legible. When posting art in these forums, usually the art has yet to be posted on CAF, so another peek into my collection.
