  1. I finally got FedUp with the hassle of waiting around for FedEx drivers that never show up (or completely deliver my packages to the wrong address), I thought I’d try using my local FedEx Ship Center as the return address (as recommended by other forum members here) for my most recent order with CGC.

I highly recommend this approach if you are able pick up. They hold it for up to 5 days so you can go get it in your free time. All you need to do is walk in, show your ID, wait for them to grab your package, and sign. Done in a few short minutes.

Yes, you can go to FedEx if that office allows it.  Don't contact general FedEx, find the phone number to the local facility and call them.  They will pull it off of the truck after the first attempt.  If you call the 800# they will tell you they can't do it.  It is still just easier for me to have all my FedEx packages sent to be held at my local Walgreens.

I don't know what kinds of Walgreens ya'll have near you but mine are NOT the place I want expensive things shipped.

In summary:  FedEx shipping is not to blame.  It's the Drivers most of the time when there are problems.

If You want to avoid the signature required problems - Just schedule the origianl shipment to be delivered at Your local Walgreens with your name on the package.  2c

I don’t think it needs to be Walgreens. There are plenty of locations that allow FedEx holds/pickups such as certain Walmarts, Grocery Stores, FedEx Retail and Printing locations.

(Filter for Hold/Pickup after entering your location)

So, I’ve never personally done this before, but would prdfer to pick up my future CGC deliveries at my local FedEx store because I’m usually not at home to sign during the day. Do you just use the address of the preferred FedEx Hold/Pickup as your return address?

If I were robbing a unit and knew there were exterior cameras and exit codes,  I'd move the stuff to another unit and wait until the heat cools off. That way, I can drive in and out in a car and be cleared of any suspicion.

    Just throwing that out there.

@blazingbob This is almost exactly what happened to one of my friends who owns a small business located in a garage/warehouse facility. 4 or 5 of her neighbors businesses located in the same facility were also broken into with mostly valuable electronics, tools, and easy to move items missing. It turns out the thief (who happened to be homeless)  moved everything (including himself) into an adjacent empty unit and had been hiding out for a few days before he was caught and arrested. He was probably waiting for an opportunity to move everything when he thought no one was around. Luckily most everything missing was found but some stuff was completely broken/trashed. It’s definitely traumatizing to the victims and unfortunately diminishes trust and faith in people. I really hope everything turns up.

Or just completely missed the mark again or whatever.

    :insane:

I swear I replied to my PM to submit my grades on Monday. I also thought it was odd I didn't get a reply back. SO glad I just checked a moment ago because it sure wasn't there! Grades submitted for real this time!

Aaaaaand my 25 book submission is now shipping.

My ME made it to “Grading/Quality Control” which is progress!

Final progress report for my single modern ME book:

Received + Scheduled For Grading: 12/15/22

    Grading/QC: 1/19/23

    Shipped: 1/25/23

  6. I have a question @KaileeS CS @CrystalM CS

When submitting an order to CGC and filling out appropriate information for shipping address, is it possible to use an address to a local FedEx retail location to have them hold it for me so I can sign and pickup with them?

I have the same problem where I’m never home when FedEx decides they want to deliver to me. And many times, my local FedEx delivery tries to deliver to the wrong address or flat out doesn’t knock or ring. It’s insanely frustrating. I’d honestly rather just pick it up and sign for it.

So my single modern book ME was received by CGC on 12/15/22 and has been stuck at "Scheduled for Grading" status pretty much since then.

My 25 book pre-screen modern submission on the other hand was received 01/12/23 and is already at G/E/I.

    Hmmmm.

Aaaaaand my 25 book submission is now shipping.

My ME made it to “Grading/Quality Control” which is progress!

Yep I've noticed this too. I've had MCS reholder CGC books over the last few months and some come back with the MCS Slab condition notes of scuffing or minor side/edge crack(s). I'm not sure what the cause is because I'm not opening the boxes, so I can't comment on the FedEx shipping.

Has anyone noticed their new CGC slabs coming back consistently now with scuff marks due to the new FedEx shipping? (And this being consistently noted by MCS grading when entered into their system?)

My recent CGC shipments have all been coming in beaten up, dirty, and with soft cardboard (even before the rains) which means the contents are shifting and rubbing up against each other resulting in tears to the (now thicker) plastic bags holding each slab.

I’ve noticed this as well. Never had this issue until my last batch of 20 books I got back from CGC in October (which was the first time receiving via FedEx instead of USPS Registered Mail). I only noticed some scuffing when I inspected the books, but once they were repacked and sent over to MCS, 5 or 6 of them were noted with either scuffing or minor side/edge cracks. I can’t say for sure with 100% confidence if the issue is either the packaging CGC uses or the way FedEx handles the package or a combination of both.
