    New packs are filtering out!

These are not mine but the image is yoinked from a FB group.  I did however see some at a Wally World in Alabama on Saturday.

If you are near Mobile, specifically Saraland.  You SHOULD check that Walmart.  It is the treasure trove of nerd stuff.  I saw a ton of packs, 3 of the boxes full, of both DC and Marvel, it was mostly Marvel through.

It would be interesting to see what's in these this time around.

Interesting. I haven't done a Fast Track in a while because of the the increased actual TATs. What do you guess is the threshold for what would be considered a "small batch"?

I used to have to do what @Stefan_Wand @Tnexus suggested, which is hold at local distribution hub for a Will Call pickup since I was never home. Then had delivered to work a few times until TAT got so long I was like "what if I'm fired?" Then I stumbled upon the real fix! Rent a mailbox service.

Yeah it can be $200-400 a year, but someone is always there to sign for packages and they hold till I pick up and it works for anything I online order. Never again have I received damage to comics crammed in mailbox or stuff stolen from porch. Very, very handy and worth it. Bear in mind, you want Mailbox, NOT PO Box - since PO Box will only accept USPS. Mailbox service accepts from all carriers. Look for mailbox rental at UPS Store, Mailbox+, or similiar.

    Good luck

True, about the "what if I'm fired" thing.

Thank you all for the suggestions. This helps and puts me more at ease now especially when TATs are getting harder to align with my schedule now and in the future.

  5. Based on some of the TATs posted here, I think I can get an estimate of when my books are coming back to me (+/- a few days). The only bad news is that I may be out of town when they arrive due to a trip planned way before these TATs were off the charts. FedEx online manager doesn't allow me to change the delivery instructions once its out CGC's door because the sender, CGC, requires the signature and if a 2nd attempt of delivery is made and no ones home, FedEx states that they will ship it back to CGC. Then I've got to pay shipment twice, and risk damage to the shipment with all the back and forth.

Has this happened to anyone and/or know of a way I can set up my delivery to arrive later when I get back? Would CGC be able to hold off on the shipment once I see that it's in GEI status (just before SHIPPED status)?

I would venture to say that at least half the orders created are either not sent or revised after the fact. For example, I'll create an order and then realize I forgot to include a couple of books. A couple of days later I'll go to the comic store and then recreate the same order again.

Can you actually delete an order that you haven't submitted yet? I have an order that I have filled entirely but not put the package together yet. I'm now thinking of changing up the books (remove/add books) in the submission and thought that I might as well create a fresh new submission form. Is there a way to delete an order if I have not sent it in yet? It's just the OCD part of me that'll bug me when I see the old one in the "packing slips" list.

  7. Can someone tell me if the following qualifies as a mechanical error?

So finally received my 25 modern submission (delivered to CGC late June, SFG 8/28/21). That's the good news. The bad news is that 2 came back with one of the bottom corners cracked despite being separate from each other by several books in the box. The cracks are identical in size and location. I can only assume this happened outside/before being packaged. The box is in good shape, no impact damage.

Manufactured without one of two production staples = Universal (Blue Label) Grade & No Deduction.  Manufactured without staples = Qualified (Green Label) Grade & No Deduction.  :foryou:

Wow, I didn't even know about comics missing an entire set of staples! Can't imagine how they'd survive on the spinner rack at the local 7-Eleven back in the day. I can picture a pile of loose pages around the spinner rack as kids flipped through the books.

I know this shipped I know you have no control over FedEx but what the heck is going on.

It left Palmetto, went to Ocala, left Ocala, went to Fort Meyers?, Left Fort Meyers went back to Ocala. It was supposed to arrive here yesterday. GEEZ!

I had to use the board's search tool for "Ocala" and found your post. How long did your FedEx shipment take to arrive? How long did it stay in Ocala? I ask because a few books of mine currently seem stuck in Ocala FedEx. Thanks.

  10. For those getting books back, congrats! What return service(s) are you using with success in terms of speed and reliability (boxes not being crushed)? I'm experiencing delays with FedEx Ground lately. I was trying FedEx Ground because FedEx Overnight got too expensive. Thanks in advance.

You could be right. That 25 that moved to GEI was part of a 75 book submission that CGC breaks down into 3 submissions of 25. Seems like they randomly grab subs. That or whatever grader it got assigned to a grader with less of a backlog while the others did not.

So when CGC breaks the 75 sub into 3 subs of 25, do they charge $5 for each subset? Just wondering. If they don't, I'd like to submit a "mega-sub" one day to cut down on the $5 per submission fee.
