  1. Methinks your "keeper" box has a large hole in it.
  2. Zolnerowich gives the stamp of approval on your Zolnerowich obsession!
  3. I guess I should say, the perfect amount of coffee this morning!
  4. 229! (once my next Centaur arrives from the recent CC auction...)
  5. And some other fun bits and bats from Cocomalt: First two illos: by Bob McCay, Winsor’s son Second two illos: by Ryan
  6. Cocomalt: the 4-pg Dan Hastings story. Sorry for the photo quality; I didn’t want to split the spine any more than I had to!
  7. My first Centaur. Spring 1938. Cocomalt is chock full of B vitamins and the kids love it! Cocomalt is also chock full of early GA artists: Charles Biro (cover), Ryan, Bob McCay (son of Winsor McCay), Paul Gustavson, Fred Guardineer, Jack Cole, Claire Moe, Bob Wood. Some of their work follows. Thanks to the GAtor “Completed Centaur Run” thread for first highlighting for me the Cocomalt and the fantastic story therein, “Dan Hastings, Rad Omeron, the Martian Bandit,” with art by Guardineer. And thanks to @bedrockcomics for the book!
  8. Vibrant!!! I’d expect nothing less from the Flex Mentallo™ Collection!
  9. And then there’s the Monster of Madness, also courtesy of Fiction House... Artist? Zolnerowich or Crandall??
  10. Awwww, isn't that sweet! If I'm not mistaken, isn't that a young Sqeggs in the blue gaberdine suit, holding two bowls of ice cream, and thinking, "Doggonit, I hope she says no, because I really want to eat this ice cream myself!"
  11. i know the debate/discussion is never-ending, with regard to whether the Planet covers with "weak" color strikes are simply due to general fading/bleaching from sun exposure, or due to the shabby printing methods used by Fiction House, where specific ink colors ran low in the ink wells. If you look at the top right corner of the cover (on the 3.5 copy), there is a small blush of blue. This makes me think that the blue dye was particularly susceptible to fading, either from sun exposure or possibly intrinsic to that specific ink color. By comparison, the reds are only slightly dull, arguing against general sun bleaching.
  12. Agreed. I've heard the Vatican has a copy with illuminated gold margins that makes the Church copy look like a meager 1.5!
  13. Great looking book! Poor Ann Mason in another awkward predicament. 😬 And another great cover by the great Rafael Astarita. My favorite Astarita Jungle cover is #47: (not my copy)
