  1. And one that hardly ever makes an appearance. First "Ann Mason-in-Bikini" cover.
  2. I've been remiss in the House of Fiction. A recent upgrade for my FH box:
  3. Just catching up on this thread. Congrats on this book from your direct underbidder. Glad to learn that 19 went to a first-class boardie and true Planet fanatic! I saw this book up close; you landed one of the best of the books. The 6 ain’t half bad either!
  4. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
  5. Wonderfully wild cover indeed! Gotta love 1940 comic books.
  6. ComicLink ain't playin' second fiddle to ComicConnect! What I saw upon logging into ComicLink yesterday:
  7. I heard the pages are so white you need to wear sunglasses just to be in the same room as the books.
  8. Well, I’ve never seen Herb Bartron and Point Five in the same room at the same time. Just sayin’.
  9. Very nice! From the Herb Bartron pedigree collection, perchance?
  10. Hang on guys. I really think there was only one pub date and release for Planet 69. It's a seasonal thing, ho ho ho. The cover date of 69 simply reads "Winter". The indicia (inside the front cover) reads "Winter 1953". Assuming the book actually hit the stands in January or February of 1953, this would place the book in the Winter season spanning end of 1952 and start of 1953 (roughly Nov 1952 to Feb 1953). As for Szavisca's copy with a CGC "date" of Winter 1952, that's just wrong. I'd bet good money the indicia would read Winter 1953. Maybe CGC did this to distinguish 69 from another "Winter" 1953 issue (#73, read on good Gentlemen!) Here is a snapshot from GCD showing a Jan 1953 date stamp. If you track the pub dates between #68-#73, it all makes chronological sense (based on info from GCD and Comic Book Plus): 68 - Fall 1952 (as per GCD, and its cover has a date stamp of September) 69 - Winter 1953 (i.e., Jan/Feb 1953) 70 - Spring 1953 (see GCD snapshot showing a May 1953 date stamp, below) 71 - Summer 1953 72 - Fall 1953 73 - "Winter" 1953, which presumably was released in Nov/Dec of 1953 So actually, there are two issues with "Winter 1953" pub dates in the indicia: 69 in Jan/Feb 1953 and 73 in Nov/Dec 1953. Now, I'd be happy to be proven wrong, and if anyone has a copy of 69 where the actual indicia inside the front cover reads "Winter 1952", bring it on! BTW, the last art panel of the last Planet Comic: Kind of cryptic, eh? And kinda Tony Stark?
  11. One of the very best of all the early Foxes IMHO. Congrats!
  12. Of course it's not their fault. Though their timing could've been better. This is a major bummer. And I quote: METROPOLIS/COMICCONNECT UPDATE -- a special note regarding the new online sales tax requirements Dear valued clientele, You may have recently heard from other online retailers about the newsales tax laws that are being enacted nationwide requiring sales taxbe charged for all online orders. Each online retailer must collectthe applicable sales tax for the state, city, or county to which theorder is being shipped. In the past, we were required to charge salestax only for purchases shipping within New York State, whereMetropolis and ComicConnect have a physical presence, but this new lawrequires all internet businesses to charge the applicable tax rateregardless of their home state or city. We understand this additional cost is not welcome, but unfortunately, this is the law as set forth by the Supreme Court ruling in the SouthDakota v. Wayfair case. In other words, due to the Wayfair ruling, even if the merchant does not have a physical presence in a state, andthe seller passes the state’s economic threshold for total revenueor number of transactions in that state, the seller is legallyobligated to collect and remit sales tax to that state. Obviously, weare legally bound to comply with this ruling. We are currently working on a new and vastly improved inventory andweb commerce software to provide not only improved features on oursites, but also an improved customer experience and one which willcomply with these newly enacted laws. Until our new site is ready inearly 2019, we’ll be applying sales tax to web orders afterreceiving them from our site, while orders placed directly with us byphone or email will have the applicable sales tax added while we takeyour order. The tax rate is determined by the shipping address and thenew total including the applicable tax that was charged will beemailed to you when your items are ready to be shipped. All sales are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unlessa properly completed state issued resale certificate is physically onfile with Metropolis Collectibles or ComicConnect prior to the closeof an auction or purchase. If you have an applicable certificateplease email, fax or mail it to our office. At this time, we are required by law to collect sales tax on ordersshipped to IL, MD, ME, MI, MN, NY, NJ, PA and WA. We appreciate your patience and loyalty and continued patronage andstrive to make this change as painless and smooth as possible. If youhave any questions, please feel free to contact us. -------------------------------
  13. Agreed. The Blue Beetle story in this issue is 14 pages long and full of twists and turns.
  14. Such a cool book! Inspired by the crazy cover, I took the liberty of posting some splash pages, and the climactic scene promised on the cover -- rather less racy than hoped for. Courtesy of Comic Book Plus: Miss Joan Mason, in jeopardy. Turns out she doesn't like horrible slimy serpents. Green Mask: two-page splash! By-line says George Tuska, though Comic Book Plus indicates "Pierce Rice?"
  15. It's been great seeing everyone's bounty for the year! Here is a sampling of books that arrived in 2018. The theme was Foxes and Fictions. There's a couple Grails here, and a few grail "lites" among them. In alphabetical order: Tough book! Tougher book. And more robots!! My squeaky clean upgrade. That devilish doctor. Look out behind you, Green Mask! It ain't a Church copy, but still... Classic pulp weird horror. Yum.
  16. Has "minor amount of color touch". Probably owned by one of us on these very boards... (not me)
  17. Impeccable taste as usual, Gino! Those are all amazing. Priceless each one of them!
