I'm in Belgium and have shipped and received over 200 packages with art abroad. My major takeaway: be careful when using national postal services (usps etc) as they work together with other national postal services and that's where problems usually begin. I've had packages being held for over a year and none of the postal services having any idea where the package is. And then having the package arrive out of the blue. When I want art shipped that is expensive or very dear to me, I always ask to use FedEx or UPS as, so far, this has never led to any issues and they are much, much faster than any national service. Yes, they are more expensive, but peace of mind is worth it.
I've found out that if you find a helpful USPS worker at the store they have an enhanced tracking system that allows them to see way more detail than what customers see on tracking sites. I've had items in customs limbo before and my local USPS has been able to help track down the package and get it moving again.
Finding a helpful postal employee is not easy though!

I don't have a dog in this race and, as a publisher, it's pretty obvious who has what but I saw the initial comment you left and if that's not bullying I don't know what is. If you're happy with your piece and feel confident, be cool. Don't protest so much.
These aren't 9 year olds so I don't know how an adult is getting bullied when someone is telling them what they're saying is wrong.

The background lettering is different on his than the final text of the print. With all the focus on small differences of the figures, the background lettering has several huge differences.
Seems obvious which one is the final version that was used for the print and it's Malvin's.

I get the impression that some people don't even try to negotiate, because it doesn't occur to them that it's even an option.
The average person is awful at sales. Just look at how bad selling on Facebook or ebay is and how people have no idea what they're doing.

Hi All - rookie question here so go easy. I am owed one piece of art from Cadence that I paid for using Paypal. I spoke to the artist and they said I should raise a case with Paypal. I'm not expecting Cadence to going to respond to the case - so do I escalate to Paypal straight away or do you give them a chance to respond??
(Thanks in advance - this is first time I have had an issue with comics / comic art being non-delivered)
PayPal gives you 180 days to file a claim but why wait? Hopefully you paid goods and services and then you can easily file the claim as item not received.

I think you need to go through Spencer Beck, (Artist's Choice), for Scott Hanna and I'm 99% sure he doesn't really take on commissions unless an opportunity is posted but does do them for shows.
If you're looking for more inker names you can try Mark Pennington who offers commissions through The Lab Comics. I've ordered a few commissions over the years and have been happy with them. If you're on Facebook join the Sketch Prices group and you'll see a ton of commission opportunities get posted

I guess Clink is prime flipper feeding grounds. Dazzler 16 page 8 sold 10.24.23 for 625. Now available for 1500.
I had a bunch of pages and sketches that sold there in the spring and like a third of them ended up on ebay for insane prices...all are still there.

The real question is: did you hang onto the "birth" page. Those are the really valuable ones.
And if it's a "historic" page as well...imagine the price!

It's tough now because prices are so insane but stick to an amount of money that you are okay losing if you don't like the final product. All these people paying $500, $1,000 or more for commissions is crazy now because so often they come out blah and you're going to be losing a lot of money if the character isn't Batman

That's a page I would have bought because I have others from the issue but those signatures are awful and that price has an extra zero on the end

The most chilling is seeing an unprotected, uninformed wife completely defenseless because the husband never thought he would die. My "wealth" is a drop in their champion horses feed bucket. But I'm making sure my wife knows what to do and how to act if I drop dead.
I come across this all the time in my work and it's incredibly sad how often this happens and watching all the vultures come in and pick away at her and whatever money she has, which is often times just a home. I'm talking regular, middle-class families too where family members are just absolutely horrible to each other. It's a very sad part of life that most people don't see and most of these older folks will put blind faith into everyone and so often it does not work out for them.

Two thoughts I had throughout, irrespective of wealth it's sad how often elderly widows are preyed upon with their estates and no matter the country, governments never care unless they think they can squeeze money out of something.
This old lady was clearly ripped off during a horrible time and the courts rule against her but when the government thinks they're entitled to hundred of millions of dollars in tax debt they can re-interpret settled law to claw back money.

Looking for a guide to the pros and cons of selling through heritage, and the actual mechanics of using them if anyone can help ?
wht do I need to know before approaching them ? What are there fees ? do I send my stuff to them or the buyer ? do more art buyers watch heritage or are most sites similar ?
anything woukd really help me thanks in advance
Reach out to them, Comiclink and Comicconnect and see who gives you the best offer. If you have enough pieces or top notch stuff you'll get a better deal. I sent 125-ish pieces to an auction house last year and did another 50-ish this year and the prospect of only having to ship once versus 100+ times is a lifesaver and easily worth the 10%. You can also specify when you want pieces to sell and they'll accommodate you as best as possible.

I have a bunch of sequential pages, it's always fun putting them together. I'm working on a few complete issues;
Batman Issue 595 - have 17 out of 22 pages plus I have the cover! Another collector has one page that I haven't been able to get but don't know where the rest are.
Sandman Mystery Theatre Issue 64 - 18 of 22 pages. No idea where the other four are.
Green Arrow (Vol 1) Issue 89 - 13 pages - Picked up a few pages here and there so now I feel the drive to complete.
Green Arrow (Vol 2) Issue 70 - 12 pages - Same as above, have lucked into a bunch of pages and they'e in my price range so I'll grab them as I find them.

One of the more brilliant ideas of the French state was to allow heirs to donate an important artist's property to the nation in lieu of paying taxes, thus we can visit the preserved homes of Rodin, Monet, Delacroix and many other artists and view their works in the settings in which they were created (and in some cases, stand in the actual studios). It is a shame this was not done for Schulz's home.

What I won was 8 pages for about $3,500. Naturally, the Donnellys got hold of a page from the second half. Only $2,150. Such a bargain.💩
I have a similar story where I had a couple pages from 6-8page story in a 90's annual, not big name artists, and they had two. I paid like $100 bucks give or take per page through auctions and when I reached out the pages through them were like $3,500. Other pages from the series still sell in the $200-300 range

From my understanding HA only covers if you ship fedex which for sad reasons like the above… again do not use usps for anything if value even if insured I have had to man loses on smaller items could not imagine using them for anything above 1k
I learned that lesson with the post office like 15 years ago when I sold someone a complete set of hockey goalie equipment on ebay and didn't insure the package. Sure enough, USPS "lost" a massive bag of equipment worth like $3k and basically told me oh well, you didn't insure it.

I imagine this would all have to be covered under USPS insurance, Heritage never received the package.
Comic Connect mailed me a label and said it would be covered under their own shipping insurance for the agreed upon appraisal price. Just curious how that would play out in real life as you would assume these auction houses have solid relationships with the insurance companies. Dealing with USPS insurance has been a nightmare for low dollar amounts.

This isn't a complaint because I love using the site but I think the duplicate issue is when the site pulls in US ebay, ebay UK, etc.
It also happens to me when a seller lists items in multiple places, i.e. Anthony's when they list on ebay and on their site. Not sure what you would even do there
