Didn't Namor try to destroy Wakanda in Avengers vs X-Men?

He pretty much succeeded, with his capabilties from the Phoenix force. Took Wakanda forever to rebuild, and they dealt with a lot of PTSD from it. Worst part of that storyline was Marvel nonchalantly dissolving Black Panther and Storm's marriage.

Back to Moderns on eBay, the Bradshaw homage variant of Spider-gwen #1 has become a consistent 3-figure book. Even the Mexico variant sold for $75. Wish I had held on to my copy.

  2. The point here is that an absolute statement saying that "nobody, other than comic book speculators want to see " Shuri as the Black Panther is hyperbolically broad. I was able to quickly find a September 2020 article by Reuters promoting the idea of an in-universe character taking over the mantle, including Shuri.

In said article, they quoted senior Rolling Stone writer Jamil Smith, saying "They should really consider following the storyline of the comic book and advancing Letitia Wright (who plays Shuri, the tech genius sister of Bosemen's charater) into that central role". I doubt any of these individuals are heavy speculators.

Invincible Iron Man #7 & #9 (based on bad information)

Although I agree the rumors regarding an Ironheart Disney+ show featuring the voice of RDJ as Tony Stark are wobbly, at best, I believe some of the momentum was already underway for these books due to RDJ and Tom Holland's comments regarding their push for Riri Williams to enter the MCU, as well as an Ironheart -script showing up on the Hollywood Black List earlier this summer.

Indiewire Article re: RDJ thoughts on Riri Williams

Of course, everyone will collect what they feel is the best investment choice for them, but I don't personally think these books are a bad choice to pick up, if found for a reasonable price...Now, chasing them for a premium, that'd be just plain foolhardy.

It will be eventually. The variant will be lauded and scoped up again by speculators in next couple of months.
Currently I have no problem selling the normal issue for $50 in NM. I sold some newsstands last month for $45 each and
    I regret it now.

If anyone like me saw Venom and stayed for the credits they know why.

I whole-heartedly concur. Miles Morales is such an interesting character that recaptures the teenage awkwardness of Peter Parker when he was first introduced, but with a different spin. Add to that fact that his background gives him wide appeal across numerous demographics.

I've gotta say, though, that it's nearly impossible to have this conversation without mentioning Edge of Spider-verse #2. For all the naysayers (me included), Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider's popularity continues to rise at an incredible pace.

The bid history made me laugh. Look at bidder 299. He keeps bidding the book up by $1.00. Who does that.

I believe that means that someone was trying to beat the max bid of 299 but only did so in $1 or $.50 increments, so I think the most likely culprit would be n***y(873) who finally got in there with a bid of $13.05

I love that can you expand that out to show graphs over time with the same analysis so we can show it over say a period of more then a year
to show trends and have a running graph?

Exactly. It goes back to 2004. Conversely, it's extremely helpful when shortening a length of time, too. For example, when tracking the popularity of characters from the Black Panther universe, I limited to the last two months to filter out the inevitable bump in popularity immediately after the movie's release. It showed whether characters really have "staying power".

Can you also add Ghost-Spider as well since they're changing Spider-Gwen's character to that.  Might see a little uptick.

The analyzer at trends.google.com doesn't allow me to combine the two different names into one result, however, when I ran them individually, each got very similar results. This means there isn't a deluge of people exclusively referring to her by the new name instead of Spider-Gwen.

It was not a well printed book...but it's not a tiny print run either.  As to the amount of variants for #1, there really aren't that many.

My attempt to sum up the #1 variants I know of for the first issue of this book:

    • Regular cover
    • 1:5 Harriet Tubman Cover
    • Baltimore Comic-con cover (All Black - 99 copies numbered)
    • New York Comic-con cover (All Red - 99 copies )
    • ComicsHeatingUp variant (Black and White - 250 copies)
    • Hoknes variant
    • ??????? (Black title on Dark Grey cover)
    • Books a Million variant (w/Trade Dress )
    • Books a Million variant (Virgin - 50 copies)
    • Cape & Cowl variant (250 copies)
    • Jetpack Comics Forbidden Planet variant
    • 2nd Printing

He looks like a panther and his name is taken from a pretty famous name.

Sorry to sidetrack the discussion, but I'm a HUGE Black Panther fan, and I try to correct the myth about the name. The Black Panther comic book character (first published July 1966) pre-existed the establishment of the Black Panther Party (established October 1966).

In fact, Marvel temporarily changed his name to the Black Leopard to disassociate him from the group. It obviously didn't stick and they changed it back.

  10. I have been using the CLZ Comics app in conjunction with CLZ Barry, which allows me to scan in books by UPC. Most books are in the system, so adding them to my collection is pretty painless. My only gripe is that it isn't intuitive tracking multiple copies of the same book (e.g., 3 copies of Batman 655 Cover A). It does allow you to quickly add separate covers (Batman 655 Cover A and Cover B).

As an aside, they also offer a web-based alternative.
