  1. In 1978-79, at what probably was a precursor to SDCC, I bought this Detective #37 (with no back cover) for $16.50. I loved the cover art... but life and work happens.... so I stopped collecting in 1983.

I posted this book for comment in the Summer of 2016 in this thread. I got back some great feedback.... some said it was worth $700 and some said ... keep it. It is a pre-Robin Tec and will only increase in value.

I sold it that summer for $2000 (No regrets) and it has been fun to watch it change hands over the past year and a half.  For those who want to look it up, it is the only 0.5 CGC Blue Label on the census.  It sold again for $3000 and then again for $3850 in March 2017.  I sent it in for CGC grading knowing it would come back 0.5.  I just wanted it encapsulated. Here is the raw image before grading. If this book is yours.... here is the image! I just wanted to pass along the story of a wonderful book!

  2. This is my wonderful haul from Emerald City CC.  Jaime and Gilberto Hernandez were pioneers in the Small Press Movement of the early "80's. Their Love and Rockets (1981) edition is iconic. Here is a less frequently seen 2nd printing from 1982 with a really nice remark from Jaime Hernandez . Thank you to Rich Henn for the logistics (leg work!). If you are there, please visit Jaime's table and check things out... I envy you.

when you say own facilitator what do you mean exactly? i'm in uk and looking at getting one done but havent got a cgc account

    any idea on prices

Once the artist finishes the cover, you can either have them send the raw completed cover to you or you can have it graded.  Many artists use one particular person to facilitate grading. The artist sends directly to the facilitator who vouches for the authenticity, fills out the Signature series paperwork and submits it to the grading company under their account for grading. The grading company will then send the book directly to you when slabbed. As far as cost, the facilitator with grading and shipping typically adds around $60 to the sketch cover cost.  I'm sure a bit more for international shipping.

    Batman Adventures #2 CGC 9.8 s/s Bruce Timm - $145

Four (4) cps on census in 9.8, with only one sale dating back to 2015.  No way to tell if the other couple s/s are Templeton or Timm  :-(

:takeit:,   One of the other 3 9.8 S/S issues of this book is one of mine signed and sketched by Ty Templeton.
