Typically, I will purchase art directly from a dealer or the artist themselves. I was wondering though if it's frowned upon to contact a dealer like Albert Moy about an artist they sell work from occasionally but do not represent and ask if they are able to obtain more from a certain series or art with a certain character? Is that considered obnoxious? I don't want to overstep my boundaries...

If the artist doesnt have a regular dealer, Ive reached out to dealers who seem to work with the artist consistently. Worse they say it no, or ignore you.

Until they stop getting thousands of books today they will just keep raising theirs prices to try to slow the garbage down.

If I was in charge it would be much higher.  Raise until you see a drop off in submissions.

John, Greggy, and all of you are to blame for CGC raising their rates.  Let's be clear!

You all want CGC to drop their rates?  Stop submitting so they can cut back on all expenses.

The entire hobby is to blame.  CGC is just cashing in.  QC will get better once you the customer vote with you wallet.

This is spot on! The amount of derk getting graded is astounding. Anyone expecting a company to forgo profit just cause is out of their damn minds!

Going to be my first time submitting so trying to get an accurate idea of how much its all going to cost. So I know  I have to pay for shipping it to them, and then the return shipping for when they send them back.. but Im unsure of how much I'm going to have to pay for the actual grading. I have a batman beyond #1 in good condition (definitely a 9.0 or higher) that I'm for sure going to send along with others. If its valued at $400 am I paying $20 for the grading or is it going to be closer to $100? and am I having to pay that price for each individual comic that's graded?

Add all your books in the online form and you will get a price for grading and an estimate of shipping.

Would any of you suggest a minimum cut off point for grading on any of these issues?

A big part of this is to question why you want to get those books graded in the first place. If its to sell then you would need to do the cost analysis of one grade over the other and its worth to you to not get the desired grade and price you want. If its for you own personal reasons then the cut off point doesnt really matter, unless you are one of those people that only want 9.8s or some other specific grade.

As for sending them in...if you have waited a while without grading, maybe wait a little longer and take the books to a local con that CGC is attending when the time comes. Alternatively you can mail them and pay for all the extra insurance and hope the hassle of a claim wont be needed. Another option is to fly/drive/boat to Florida and take the books in yourself, which I believe is an option again.

    Hope this helps.

Not true - on MULTIPLE occassions I have been told the clock starts when someone at their office gets the package, not when they open it. That is why there was such a jump in time around June because people were expected deliveries of their items based on the turnaround times but those times were based on them opening them the same day as they arrived ... since they were back logged they changed the estimates to reflect time idling, opened, graded. So estimate is OK. What is NOT ok is being told one date repeatedly and having that date pushed out. What is NOT ok is having my books sitting in grading for over 1 month. What is NOT ok is being ignored when I followed up to their own timeline. This is terrible customer service and let's face it we don't have much choice. You can go to PGC or CBCS but we all know they sell lower than CGC does. I've said this before and i will say it again, transparency is key.

It is true. Why do you think they added an, "opening packages from the week of ____" statement to the website...?

What is the 2 month mark past when you think your TAT 'should' have been completed?

Afraid this is all true. The volume of books is just insane these days, and they cant keep up. Im still waiting for books submitted and received in July =(
Im turned off my auto renew and probably wont submit anything new until they get the process more streamlined.
