Nice pick ups! Funny that I was also looking for Savage Dragon 102, but didn’t see it anywhere. I even picked up a Famous Funnies too - but a much lower value one. I discovered Invisible Scarlet O’neil character was created by someone who shares a last name with my mother, so I thought I’d pick this up. I got to meet Ryan Ottley and had him sign some covers I like and my favorite page in the series. As a parent, I’ve always appreciated the family storylines in this series. This page brings back memories of those early parent days with Ryan’s great art. Maybe someday I’ll have the budget to seek out the original art for this page.

Update on the giveaway posted on Chimera’s Facebook page tonight. 720 essays received and have now been read. Sounds like they have narrowed it down to 150 or so of the best submissions, but no timeline for winner announcement. Interesting that a book is planned to cover the giveaway and include some of the more unique essays. I guess $15 isn’t a price for something like that - but it is another revenue stream created by the promotion. Also lots of plugs for store’s newsletter and new monthly comic “lottery”/ loot-crate type service. What are people thinking about the guest lineup here? I would say major disappointment unless they are holding back on some big names.

I went to an estate auction that had a few key silver age books, but they were bid out of my price range. Off to the side was a stack of gold key/dell books that included this VG copy of Fight Comics 81. The bids ran up to over $40, so that was more than i wanted to spend after fees to take home books i didn't want. As a last chance to try to not go home empty handed, I pulled off a deal that i haven't tried before. I offered the buyer $20 for the Fight book from the lot and he said sure, since he didn't know much about that book. If I would have had a $10 bill, I would have offered that - but i still think it was a good deal to get a pre-code book, which is the last appearance / cover of Tiger Girl in Fight title and in better than expected condition since it wasn't bagged at the auction. Is this a reasonable offer or considered in bad taste at auctions?

How has this show been?

It was a fun show for me - filling out issues i needed for run of Sandman, Invincible, Y the Last Man, Runaways from $0.50 boxes. Always good to see wall books, but i'm in the population of lookers who pass on buying most of the time.

I was considering coming to Wizard this weekend, but now thinking I’ll pass. I’ve been to last five C2E2’s and always have a good time, but I get the vibe that Wizard is in downward spiral based on level of comic/celebrities this year. Doesn’t seem like it’s worth the Sunday admission price to dig thru some dollar boxes and not see one panel that I’m interested in. To those who have gone to Wizard before, how do you think this year is shaping up and how do you rate it vs C2E2? Hope it’s works out for everyone, just doesn’t seem like a good year to check it out for the first time.

Reading the last issue of Walking Dead, i noticed that Rick's hook hand moved from his right to his left within a few pages of the issue. I wonder if this has happened before and i missed it, or if they are just getting that lazy with the book now...

Has anyone ever volunteered at SW Celebration or a big event like SDCC? I'll check out the volunteer info when it's released since I'm close to Chicago but not interested enough in paying money for this. I've gone to the last five C2E2s, so i think it might be cool to see what happens on the other side of the event.

I found these at an estate sale this weekend. Condition isn't the greatest, but since two of them were bagged in Saran Wrap, I can't complain.

Found these at an estate sale yesterday. First time I have run into something like this in the two years or so since I got back into the hobby. There were a few hundred books in mostly poor shape, overpriced and pretty well picked over, but these were somehow still there. Someone else had them pulled but said he didn't want them. Made for a nice find after a number of misses lately.

I thought it had a feel of The Leftovers, too - glad to hear it wasn't just me. I wonder if Kirkman had watched that show. Hopefully it can develop into a solid on-going title, as the first issue was good but not great.

If this is the right thread for TV show only, have that many people checked out on the show that there is no conversation here leading up to the mid-season finale? They teased a big event that will have everyone talking - wondering if people have any theories to share (assuming we leave out the spoilers that are probably on-line somewhere). With the announcement of Morgan joining Fear the Walking Dead - does he die or just ride off into the sunset? I haven't watched Fear since season one, but i think they are still pretty far behind TWD in "real time", so if he dies in TWD, he can still show up there since it's before he rejoins Rick's group? A podcast i listen to speculated that he was safe since he's going to the other show - but i thought it made more sense for him to die here. Spoiler comment from comic book i haven't heard discussed...

Did anyone catch the foreshadowing comment in last night's season 8 / episode 4?

Has Harley/Batman one-shot been mentioned? Alex Ross cover is great and should appeal to wide range of audience.
