  1. And another DC. Not sure about when I picked this up, but I think it was probably the same store.
  2. Chaykin never would have occurred to me, but it sure looks right. It's taken me a while, but I've finally decided that Marvel's 25 cent reprint romance books might be the absolute toughest BA to find in grade. Came across these two while cleaning up our living room during this damnable snow storm. Picked them up in a bargain bin in my favorite central PA store about 10 years ago.
  3. Man, I miss living in Baltimore. Congrats. That's such a great feeling. A whole bunch of tough issues in there.
  4. And this one, I don't even know what to say about it. I don't necessarily like the art, it Just always struck me a real bizarre for a comic book. Check out the census on this.
  5. Another white cover gem. One of my favorite $3 box finds, Wizard World Chicago about 10 years ago. Went straight to the CGC booth with it.
  6. You just have to put in the time going through store after store, show after show. It's really amazing the range of prices you'll find. All it takes is to find a store where the owner feels he doesn't have the customer base for this kind of material and has them marked way below market value. I've found gorgeous romance books in $3 bins, and you can also pay a fortune. My general rule of thumb is to pick anything nice when you find it. Just go through every box, ask every store owner or dealer you come across.
  7. Can't tell you how much I miss posting, and reading. I can't manage to get anything done with the rest of my life if I'm on the boards all the time. Here's some others. The best part is almost all of these are from bargain bins. No 9.8's, but way too nice to pass on.
  8. There's a whole bunch of 15 cent DC issues with just great composition against white backgrounds. One of my favorites:
  9. Just to prove how random everything is, the first western I found in the wild was KC208. Found it in a local Baltimore store for $2 in 1998. Must have beaten Dan there.
  10. Those Millies are fantastic. I've been gone for while, but here are some of my meager recent pick-ups
  11. FedEx has a lost package clearance center somewhere. It's a miserable place where bottom-feeders go to feast on the misfortune of others. I once had a customer of mine gloat that he bought 2 cases of product I had shipped to a comic shop for pennies on the dollar. It was a $500 loss for me, the customer was po'd, and this former friend couldn't stop himself from gloating. The thing that's amazing is how quickly parcels will show up there--so I'm guessing they don't really look that hard for lost items.
  12. Trademark attorney on the boards? I have a vague recollection that someone on the boards is a patent and trademark attorney. If so, I may have some work for them. Send a pm.
  13. Great suggestions, thank you...I have a buddy who has about 20 or so pins and builds and fixes them...I was thinking of having 1-3 in the shop depending on space...we'd split the $$ from game play...he would do the maintenance and I'd get 10% if he sold one... Ok , before you put in a video (smart) or pin (stupid, and I collect them), check with local codes. Often, back in the 80s, towns did everything they could to prohibit anything resembling an arcade. You may be able to have one machine without buying a license. Or not. Check before you get fined As for the store, I really suggest you put the dream on hold. It's a really bad time for comic retailers, and many of my customers are hurting. Large retailers have stepped in, everything is available on-line, and in general I think consumers are jaded with the volume of merchandise out there. There are VERY few retailers that are feeling comfortable right now
  14. Seriously. Some real nice stuff in there I don't think anyone is saying there is nothing of value. However the sheer volume of drek would prevent most people from even making an offer, if it's a matter of all or nothing. Better uses of capital and time. Now, if I lived in that town and had a warehouse sitting vacant, it would be a different story. I'd much rather deal with the auction house and pay more for the items I want then deal with so much bulk. I agree--but to say, there's "nothing of value" is extreme.
  15. The lamp has the original share which is not common If it is not stained, it's an easy 100
  16. Until you actually opened it and went "GAH". Now there's some bad taste I seriously love this run. Harkens back to Kirbys 50s work like Black Magic. It's amazing to me how many people are still antagonistic toward it, just because it didn't regurgitate his SA work
  17. One of my favorite bands ever. My kids love this song, actually.
  18. That is true. People often forget how treacherous the waters surrounding Manhattan and the ports are. Lot's of horror and shipwrect stories. Makes the building of all the bridges 50-150 yrs ago even more impressive.
  19. After riding the subway I have come to the conclusion there is nothing worth digging around for. Go diving off what's left of the piers. Seriously, bottle collectors especially, often learn to dive so they can hit every lake, pond or river where garbage was dumped. If I had to guess, it's probably the biggest single source of antique bottler.
