RIP, Mr. Perlin
Sadly, another artist from my youth is gone. Nice of his son to say he passed peacefully though and at such an advanced age. Wow.

Hopefully you have not just Ken Griffey but most of the other cards in those 1989 baseball sets.
A few. I collect the cards of the players from a few sports that I idolized when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s with a few random rookie cards of other star players.

Thanks.
I threw away most of my stuff - I drew up until about ' 81- '82 and when I got a job in Electronic Design I pretty well quit drawing for fun.
These are from a sketchbook that somehow avoided the purge and are probably near the end of my drawing for pleasure phase. I'm sure that I still have some more drawings (or pics of more of my stuff somewhere). I did a book for a calligraphy class that I posted some time ago with lots of animal drawings. My lettering sucks. I'll post those again if I find them.
Some of these are photo reference (like the Reagan portrait & the assassination attempt) and some are just from my imagination, and some are live (like the Tahoe lake-scape).Those are really good. You ever get the itch to just draw for the fun of it nowadays? I know inspiration is a big part of the urge to draw but I don’t feel like we ever lose the desire to draw but having the time and a lack of inspiration/motivation can be a big part of whether we pick up a pencil and paper for extended periods of time

I ran across this in my closet today. A blast from the past. Like a lot of folks around here, in 6th and 7th grade I drew some comics.
The first couple issues I traced a lot of panels or copied them. This is issue #2; a lot of tracing and copying from Colan, Buscema, Kirby, Ditko. By issue 3 or 4 I was drawing my own stuff free-hand. I know that I gave later issues away to teachers and friends. Wish I would have kept one of those. Maybe I will run across one later.
Anyways, just for fun...Really digging this.
Would like to see where your art progressed to sometime.

Finally checked another piece off of my vintage Alien collection list. These aren't hard to find necessarily, but they can be expensive. Finally found a sealed example for what I felt was a reasonable price. Even sealed, the box is designed so that you can still look into the viewfinder and play the film. Of course, 45 years later, the film strip has long since red-shifted and degraded, but you can still make out a few images here and there.
I remember going back and forth on the scene where the alien gets sucked out the escape hatch over and over because in reverse, it looked like the alien was gonna win

Really liked the first one, especially the Daredevil scenes with they're rendition of his radar. That would make for an awesome animated series if they tone it down from the Netflix version for the kiddies

So this is what I am talking about when it come to the 1982/1983 Snake Eyes and Steeler (Mobat driver). They both came with the same Uzi's. But there is two types, rounded and one that squared off with a point. My understanding was that 1982 is rounded and original mold and then 1983 they brought the originals back 1.5 and that was new molds. So when they redid the molds my understanding is that they would upgrade the design so the Uzi got changed and the points where added to make it look more realistic. However I have looked at sealed copies of Mobat and Snake Eyes carded and seen them have both. People do reseals, check yojoe and 3djoes it goes back and fourth. Rounded in 82 and pointy in 83. I thought until today accessory pack only came with one type which one person showed me pointy but yet I had a round one due to the pack came later. Then I got a pointy one today. It makes me assume they just kept using both molds since for two figures and they intertwined or there was actually a difference between SE and Steeler. Makes my brain hurt lol. Pics for reference. I have a Steeler I bought that came with round. Second pic is SE with a satchel as reference vs the accessory pack.
I can’t imagine how many of the originals were lost in parks and backyards 42 years ago. Me and some of my friends would take our action figures outside to create battle scenes on the grass and I’d always come home with missing or mismatched weapons. I’m sure trying to find the originals has to be a nightmare for some collectors
1st appearances - just the comic equivalent of rookie cards? Oh and post a cover of a 1st appearance book in your collection
