  1. Is Plop! really considered drek? I know the books can be found fairly cheap but they did showcase some good stuff from Aragones and the like
  2. I don't know if "fail safe" would be the right term but I've missed a ton of auctions over the last couple of months and the amounts of relists I get emails about has been a pretty high percentage of my watchlist. It doesn't say if it's from non payers or just ignored listings but some sellers will add that to the description
  3. Ebay will send emails automatically to watchers that missed out on an item if it's relisted...they're desperate like that to charge you fees
  4. Saw this in another thread and it reminded me of the magic trick where a balloon would be placed in a tube, inflated and pierced with a pencil but wouldn't pop
  5. I've heard enough tales of most "talents" to know they're all a peculiar breed in some way so I appreciate and respect it can't always be praise when it comes to personal impressions. I kinda consider myself lucky to have not dealt with many of my influences on a personal level for that reason. A handshake and "keep it moving" is fine with me.
  6. This one’s definitely getting added to the collection. Glad they did the classic style, unlike the Hot Toys version…something ain’t just didn’t like about that one. 3Zero Joes are gonna take up whatever little space I have left if this keeps up because they are looking (shutyomouf)
  7. Can't stop...Won't stop! Practicing little techniques...has a Buscema, Romita, Hannigan style and of course a little Byrne in the hands
  8. I remember this cover from the newsstand and how I couldn't wrap my head around Byrne's depiction of lighting. All I knew was that Spidey looked super cool and I really wanted to know who that mummy dude was.
  9. Laying in a hospital bed for 2+ months now and at the ripe old age of 54 it hit me (really hard) to read a couple of the topics posted about 2 of my favorite artists (Miller, Byrne) and how their talents have declined or they’ve just stopped giving a mess. I’ve never hit their level and probably never will but I feel I can still progress and improve due to my love for the art form while at the same time improving my overall health to have that extra time to continue practicing. I’ve taken too many breaks from drawing, mostly due to lack of motivation and getting really sick but I have a chance to start being more serious about (certain 😉) things and made up my mind to do what’s right, today. ‘Here is my first new drawing depicting what I’d like to call, “Panels I’d Draw”
  10. I loved comics as a kid; Byrne made me a collector. I'd devour his artwork and emulated his style to the best of my ability all through high school until my own evolved (and hopefully continues to progress). I still love his style when inked properly and have been able to find new examples every now and then to remind me of how good he is that still keep me in awe like they did 40 years ago. I've added many artists influences to my own since but he'll always be at the top of the pile.
  11. Size queens everywhere....Sheeesh
  12. Got the email for pre-order at Sideshow and at first, I really liked what I saw but I’d prefer a headsculpt that wasn’t so aggressive that could maybe be changed now and then. The gritting teeth can be cool but I look at Magneto as such a regal and refined character that it would be how I’d display him. (Yes, I get this is a version from the Jim Lee cover to #1)
  13. Sideshow is taking pre-orders even the skin texture looks lifelike, imo
  14. Those may be prototypes but I remember having the chief with the headdress on my shelf as a kid. It was sculpted of brown plastic though and being that young, I didn’t even know where it came from. Possibly my older brothers when they played with stuff like that in the early/mid 60s
  15. At this rate, every cover EVER printed will make it into this thread
  16. Ya’ know? I kinda like it (funny what a color pallet is capable of) Comic bookie stuff can be comic bookie too every so often
  17. Love that Weird Mystery Tales 21 cover with Wrightson’s werewolves
  18. The body of work Kirby has achieved will never be matched. He's known as the "King" for good reason.
  19. Rough up the surface first with sandpaper, then prime it then paint it the color of your choice. It ain't rocket science and there are small 8" rollers that'll make things go by pretty quickly. A good paint will last decades too.
